Ashton is joined by Pete Peterson. Pete is an expert on California politics and public policy and serves as the dean of Pepperdine’s School of Public Policy. Ashton and Pete discuss solutions to California's biggest problems which have resulted in a net migration of 1 million people moving out of California in the last decade (and 367,000 residents left California in 2021 alone).

Progressive politicians who run California declare that they are fighting for diverse, working class & middle class families. Yet as Peterson explains, most of the individuals who have left California over the last decade are working-class and middle-class families with minor children (and are disproportionately black and hispanic) while the relatively few people who have moved to California during the same time period are older, white Americans.

In addition, California ranks #49 out of the 50 states in income inequality, #49 in housing affordability, and California is home to half of the nation's homeless despite compromising only 12% of America's population. California also has the highest energy costs in the nation, highest taxes in the nation and students in California rank near the bottom of the nation (#45 out of the 50 states) in math and science proficiency.

Episode 22: Lies & Racism From the Media - From CRT to Rittenhouse Coverage to Waukesha Massacre

Is the US corporate news media really the enemy of the people as many now believe? Are the legacy media institutions tearing apart America’s social fabric?

It is getting difficult not to answer in the affirmative to both of those questions , especially after watching the media coverage of the Kyle Rittenhouse case and its lack of interest in covering the Waukesha murders.

Rittenhouse was found not guilty of all the charges against him which is - objectively and legally - the correct verdict and a vindication of the thousands’ year old doctrine of self-defense.

But that is not the only reason why the Rittenhouse case was important. What makes the Rittenhouse episode so significant is that it exposed with unique clarity just how corrupt , deceitful, malicious, and racially inflammatory the us legacy media has become.

Of course, just in the last couple years, we have witnessed the so called “mainstream media” traffic in some of the most egregious lies. Take for example the false narratives advanced by the New York Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, and CNN on stories like the Covington Catholic high school kids, Jussie Smollett ,the Steele Dossier , the Russia-collusion hoax, the Russian bounty on us soldiers hoax, the gang rape allegations against Bret Kavanaugh the Hunter Biden story, Joe Biden’s mental acuity, inflation, and the 1619 Project (to name just a few).

Thus, we have been accustomed to the media lying with reckless abandon. The more recent phenomena, however, is the combining of the media lie machine with the mainstream promotion of some of the most toxic, CRT-inspired, racially obsessed rhetoric.

Just this last weekend, pornstar Brandi Love attended a Turning Points USA young conservatives conference in Tampa, Florida. However, the organization turned Ms. Love away upon being notified of her presence. Many lauded the move, declaring that porn is incompatible with conservative values. Others, however, criticized the idea that pornstars like Brandi Love should be shunned and given no place in the conservative movement.
