Eat Your Fruit // S3E13 Have you ever heard the expression,"An apple a day will keep the doctor away"? Fruit in many facets of our lives is a good thing. In terms of our spiritual lives, fruit is a great thing especially if that fruit is a gift from the Holy Spirit.

In this episode we discuss the Fruit of the Spirit, Kindness! In a world where kindness is rare, as Christians we should acknowledge how the Holy Spirit works within us, growing us to maturity in our faith. Our God is kind (we will take a deep dive into this idea in an upcoming episode) and so as image bearers of our creator, we are to be kind also. However, we live in a sinful world, and let's face it, sometimes being kind is difficult to people that are not kind to us. This is why we need to focus on what thie Spirit can enable us to do which is to be kind and love in the face of adversity.

In this episode we uncover the impacts of God's moving through college students as a revival of worship has spread across America. This is of God and only because of Him.

Throughout the season we have discussed how sometimes we can get unplugged from our faith, and on this episode we get to some of the foundational steps we can take in our faith to strengthen, nurture and grow in Christ.

A.W. Tozer once said, "What comes to our minds when we think about God is the most important things about us." This is so true! We need to have our hearts and mind on the things of God, things that God established as a part of our faith and things that honor God as well as bring us into worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I believe the 5 items we discuss are very important if not necessary in our faith journey!

In this episode we discuss a new type of after school club that seems to be in opposition to the Good News after school club. What are these clubs you ask? Check our conversation as we talk about our freedoms and explore topics such as: Is there critical thinking in Christianity? Are these clubs an attempt to normalize Satan in our society? We also share 3 ways we can respond to the idea of Satan being shared to children in this way.

Proverbs 12:16 ‘A fool’s displeasure is known at once, but whoever ignores an insult is sensible.’ — Especially when we speak the name of Christ, sharing the gospel, we may be ridiculed for our faith - we are called to be sensible in the midst of insult.

2 Timothy 3:1-9 “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” — Speaking about the state of our world — How do we balance avoidance of ‘such people’ and still be a good witness sharing the Good News?

Proverbs 18:1 ‘One who isolates himself pursues selfish desires; he rebels against all sound wisdom.’ — Social media began our tendency to isolate, the Pandemic solidified it. We need each other as we were created as social creatures that thrive on love and a sense of belonging.

What is Unplugged Faith // S02E01 Faith is described in scripture as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) We are generally a people that likes to see it to believe it. As such, our faith can be tested and tried by a multitude of areas in our life, including the ridiculing of our faith by the world we live in. In this episode we cover several ways we as Christians may become “unplugged” from our faith. When we say “unplugged”, we are referring to a situation in ones life, where they have become less confident or less involved in their faith.

Our hope is that throughout season 2 we can offer insight and encouragement for those that may have unplugged, but want to get back what they feel they have lost. Our prayer is that our listeners will draw close to the One who offers hope and salvation, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Below are the topics that are covered in this episode. If your faith needs to be revitalized, these topics may help guide you as to why you unplugged from your faith in the first place:

Religion — do we have the right idea when we think about Christianity?

Relationship — our relationship with Jesus is most important.

Rules — some may view our faith as a religion with a rule book which may deter them truly knowing Christ

Reserving time — we need to make sure to take time for our faith and not spread ourselves thin

Reading scripture — but misinterpreting the text, can lead to misunderstandings about our faith

We discuss the importance of worship and what Jesus says about the location of our worship. These events that Dylan is putting together, has sort of three-fold purpose: Gospel Sharing, building community, and fighting depression and other mental disorders that many of us are fighting--sadly, sometimes alone.

2020 brought a new surge of mental disorder cases and Dylan is taking on this phenomenon head on by providing an environment that is gospel driven, full of joyful noises, and love for the community! WE NEED THIS IN EVERY CITY AND TOWN!!
