One of the quickest ways to bring your mindset back into alignment is to simply remember. Revelation 12:11 says that they overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. E76: Don't Be So Heavenly Minded That You're No Earthly... What?

This week on the podcast we are discussing heavenly mindedness. "Don't be so heavenly minded that you're no earthly good" is a phrase that I have heard for years, and it is extremely unbiblical! Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth..." Our task as sons and daughters of God is to become MORE heavenly-minded... not less. This world is not in need of earthly-minded people, but Kingdom-minded people. When we set our minds on "things above" we position ourselves to understand the heart of the Father and draw from supernatural resource and supply. Heavenly-mindedness is NOT synonymous with being out of touch with reality or disconnected from the needs of the people. In fact, it is the opposite. The more you focus on God and heaven's agenda the more you become in tune with His heart and compassion for people. The best thing you can do for the world around you is to become MORE heavenly-minded... not less.

Jeremiah 51:20 says, "You are My battle-axe and weapons of war: for with you I will break the nation in pieces; with you I will destroy kingdoms."

Did you know that when you keep your eyes on Jesus in the midst of the conflict you're going through, that you actually become a weapon, an instrument, in the hands of God that He uses to destroy the plans of the enemy on your behalf? Spiritual worship is not devil-focused; it is God-focused. Whenever you find yourself in conflict, under attack, or walking through perplexing circumstances, understand that you battle in NOT yours, but God's! When you're walking through conflict, praise Him ANYWAY. No matter what it looks like, praise Him ANYWAY.

E71: Binding and Loosing

There is something extremely powerful about being in agreement with God. Jesus said, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). The will of the Father is established when the things of earth come into alignment with heaven. The assignment of the people of God, therefore, is to discover heaven's agenda. In the words of Christ, the assignment is to see what the Father is doing. Then His people can partner with His heart to see His Kingdom established here on the earth.

You are on earth. Christ is in you. As you stand in the authority He has given you, binding and loosing (Matthew 16:19) according to heaven’s agenda, that which is already bound or loosed in heaven can now be made manifest here on earth. Heaven is the model for what life on earth should look like according to the Father's perfect will. Whenever things in this earthly realm are out of alignment with heaven's agenda, God's children have the authority to look into heaven, see what the Father is doing, and then bring it to earth. That is made possible through the Spirit of God, your connection to heaven.

E70: It's Not About You!

What happens when God chooses YOU to be the solution to the problems going on around you? We are so often waiting on God to move, but God is so often waiting on US to get into agreement with Him, His word, His promises, etc... the premise for this week's episode is that so often the solution is RIGHT THERE in front of you. God's solution often shows up in a promise you've already received, a passage of scripture you've overlooked, a close friend or acquaintance, OR even on the inside of you.

We're going to look at the story of Gideon. The nation of Israel was going through an intense season of difficulty. They cried out to God, and God raised up a man by the name of Gideon to be their deliverer. Gideon would NOT have been their 1st, 2nd, 3rd... or 50th choice, but he was the man that God chose. We miss out on what God wants to do when we become overly familiar with the people He's surrounded us with, when we become overly familiar with His word, and when we're always looking for an outside solution. Remember, Christ IN YOU... the hope of glory. This week's episode is a call to stop belittling yourself, to stop making excuses, and instead to get into agreement with God and believe what He has promised!

Here's the thing... it's not about you! It's about the Christ in you. But He has called you and equipped you to accomplish the impossible. He believes in you enough that in spite of your issues, problems, limitations, etc... He called you anyway! His presence and His grace working in you and through you are strong enough to bring you into the fulfillment of every one of His promises for you.

I decided to talk about HOPE this week because I am noticing that a lot of believers are walking through life AS IF they have no hope. Our hope is not based a person, a political party, an ideology, or a religion... our hope is based on Jesus. Period. Hope is not wishful thinking. It is the joyful anticipation and expectation of the goodness of God. Whatever this last year or this past season has looked like for you, I want to remind you this week of the simple reality that God is GOOD. God is faithful, and what He has promised He has NOT forgotten about! He is faithful and will show Himself strong in your life. I want to challenge you in this 2021 year... don't anchor your hope in what you see or in anything natural for that matter. Anchor your hope in the goodness of God, in the Person of Jesus Christ, and in His finished works.

King Solomon declared that God had given him "rest on every side" after the Lord had put all of his father David's enemies under his feet. For this weeks discussion, I am using this statement as a prophetic template for what you and I as sons and daughters of God have stepped into. We live in the finished works of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:22 declares that the Father put all things under the feet of Jesus. Jesus has already won every victory YOU will ever face. He has done EVERYTHING in order to protect and insulate you from every attack, lie, and scheme of the enemy. It isn't something we strive or struggle for. It is our reality.

E65: Confidence in the Midst of Conflict

This week we're looking at a familiar passage of scripture and discussing the authority you have as a child of God.

One day, a storm broke out while the disciples were on the water, and Jesus was asleep in the stern of the ship. The disciples wrongly concluded that Jesus was sleeping and therefore didn't care that they were "perishing". OK... so the SAVIOR of the whole world "didn't care" that they were perishing... right. So often when we don't see things going our way we can wrongly conclude that God is not on our side... when in fact He is waiting for us to come into agreement with Him, partner with Him, and stand in authority.

Jesus was RESTING in the storm and therefore had no problem taking authority over the storm. He was able to release peace in the storm because He was operating from a place of internal peace.

In these days of heated debate and argument, we need to be reminded of the importance of putting others first, esteeming others better than ourselves, walking in forgiveness, and honoring one another (all things that are easier said than done!) If you want a practical way to increase in Godly maturity, I think this is where a huge part of your focus should lie... loving people extravagantly. "But above all things put on love, which is the bond of perfection" (Colossians 3:14).

In this interview, Pastor Caleb Hyers of the Resting Place in Tampa, Florida discusses the importance of having a political STANCE but not falling into the trap of a political SPIRIT. A political spirit is only interested in being RIGHT, and ignores the value of the other person. As the body of Christ we have make sure that we are staying aligned with our HEAD, who is Christ. We have a responsibility to represent HIM well to the world around us. We don't do that by chopping people's heads off in the name of truth. We do that through the motivation of LOVE by demonstrating the nature and character of the Father who thinks EVERY SINGLE PERSON is to die for!

The Apostle Paul wrote, "Pursue love, and desire earnestly spiritual gifts..." (I Corinthians 14:1a). Notice how PURSUING LOVE is pre-emptive of DESIRING SPIRITUAL GIFTS. Both are important, but there is nothing more important that LOVE. This week's episode is a quick discussion on the importance of love as the primary motivation of our hearts. When we pursue Love above all else, we position ourselves to go after other desires in a healthy way. Jesus was often moved with compassion, and miracles followed. Compassion is an excellent compass. When love is your primary motivation, really good things happen!

E52: From Wilderness to Promise

The wilderness experience for the children of Israel was glorious to an extent... they experienced the supernatural power and provision of God on a daily basis. He provided food and water. He made sure their clothes didn't wear out. He was so faithful, and His presence was in the midst of the people. However, the wilderness was not the extent of the plan of God for His people. His desire was to move into the Land of Promise... a land of abundance and blessing. In the Promised Land, the people of God had to work and fight... they experienced tons of opposition, but they did it in partnership with God according to His favor that was upon them as a nation.

I believe this to be a prophetic picture for the church. God wants to move His people beyond the mentality of "just enough to get by" into greater abundance and blessing. He actually wants YOU to experience so much blessing and favor upon your own life that your life becomes a source of blessing for others. This is not a "prosperity gospel," but it is a realization that the gospel includes prosperity. God wants YOU to experience success in every area of life. Success is not defined by money in the bank, but by your obedience to fulfill the call of God upon your life... and within that context God wants to bless, increase, and prosper you beyond measure.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I need to be reminded of the goodness of God. "God is good" is one the most simple, and yet most profound, statements we can make about who God is. I am convinced that when we build our lives upon this simple truth, everything shifts. The goodness of God is the foundation for building TRUST with God... I mean, you will never trust God fully if you don't believe in your heart of hearts that He is good. In this week's episode, we are going to contemplate God's goodness, because I am convinced that this the foundation for a life of faith, adventure, and miracles. The more you come to know His goodness, the more you will trust Him to accomplish the impossible both in and through you.

There is something so powerful about going to sleep the right way. In the beginning of the book of Genesis, God created the heavens and the earth. God took 6 days to create everything we see, and then on the 7th day He rested. After each day of creation, the Bible says these words, "The evening and the morning were the first day" (and "the second day" and so on). Hmmm... What if you day didn't begin when you woke up in the morning... what if it began at night before you went to bed? What if you started off every single day of your life from a place of rest? What if a restful night sleep prepared the way for you to have a victorious day? In this week's episode we are going to explore the spiritual implications of sleep and resting in the Lord.

E46: God Is NOT Limited By Your Experience!

I hope this is NOT offensive to you, but STOP limiting God to YOUR experience. I have noted many, many times that we will try to over-explain or explain-away WHY something didn't happen or WHY God didn't move in a particular situation. We cannot develop our theology around our experiences. We have to look at what Jesus said and what Jesus modeled. We have to look at the fullness of the gospel message. Jesus demonstrated how to have a walk with the LORD that is characterized by power and by presence. We cannot separate God's power from Christianity...regardless of our past experiences.

This week's episode is an encouragement AND a challenge to go after things in God that you have yet to experience. I am not talkng about being flaky. I am talking about carrying out the mandate that Jesus gave us. Among other things, He said to heal the sick, cleanse lepers, raise the dead and cast out demons. That's not weird stuff...that's part of the normal Christian life. Normal Christianity IS powerful, and we should EXPECT God to move in and through us in powerful ways.

E43: Made In The Image Of Love

This week's episode is about demonstrating the love of God to the world around us. Demonstrating love is not about "something we have to do." It is not even something we do because the other person deserves it. And...we don't just demonstrate love to the ones that are "easy to love," or the ones we get along with. Love is not some passive statement. Love covers, love honors, love esteems others better than oneself. We love because He first loved us. He loved us while we were yet sinners. He is Love, and we are made in His image. Therefore, we are made in the very image of Love Himself.

Jesus said, "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:35). The church of Jesus Christ is meant to be known to this world, not by the rules we follow, not by spiritual disciplines, definitely not by hatred or intolerance, but by our LOVE for one another. The authentic demonstration of the Father's love is a profound expression of our identity as sons and daughters of God. We are most effective when we love authentically!

A correct understanding of personal identity is one of the keys to living a supernatural lifestyle. When we do not understand who we are in Christ, we inevitably settle for less than the fullness of what He has prepared for us. He called us into partnership with Him, but if we waste our time comparing ourselves, belittling ourselves, or putting ourselves down, we will walk through life thinking we are unworthy. At the same time, the enemy fights so hard to keep you ignorant to your true identity in God.

Episode 37 is an invitation to see yourself the way God sees you. An infinite God laid down the life of His perfect Son in order to save YOU. You are so much more valuable to God than you could possibly imagine. He is your Creator, and He only makes the very best! This is not about arrogance or pride. WE didn't do anything to deserve or earn any of this. This is a call to see yourself in the context of what He has done for you. Only when we begin to understand the nature of who God is can we truly begin to understand our true worth, value, and identity.

In 1st Corinthians 14:1 the Apostle Paul writes, "Desire earnestly the spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy!" (NKJV, emphasis added). No, every believer is not a prophet, but ALL believers can prophesy. The prophetic ministry has been abused by some, ignored by others, and undervalued by many. Be that as it may, God has not changed His mind! To prophesy means to speak or declare the mind, the will, the heart, the intent of the Father. It is to declare what God is saying. In Matthew 4:4 Jesus said that we live by every word that God speaks. When God speaks worlds are created, walls fall down, lives are restored, and destinies are realized. You and I have the privilege of partnering with the heart of God through prophetic declarations and decrees to see His Kingdom established here on the earth. This week's episode is about becoming a prophetic people. That is not something weird or spooky. It is simply a matter of learning to be led by the Spirit of God in daily living. When we learn the ways and the heart of our Heavenly Father, we can stand in agreement and respond in obedience to see His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Even in the natural, hunger is very often a sign that everything is OK. Lack of appetite is often a symptom that something is wrong. If you are lacking hunger and passion for God, that should alert you to the fact that something is off. Something needs to be readjusted.

Hunger for God is so essential because it is what drives us to seek us His face. Hunger for God actually positions you to receive fresh revelation and go deeper with God. This week's episode is a practical discussion on developing and maintaining hunger and passion for God. It is a positional message that I believe will help you to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ and challenge you to go deeper with Him.

Jesus gathered together with His disciples on the night He was betrayed and instituted communion, or the Lord's Supper, and said, "Do this in remembrance of Me."

Everything we will ever need was satisfied in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Communion is something we do in remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice - it is for thanksgiving, worship, and intimacy.

It is also an opportunity to experience His power and healing. Our divine health was secured in His giving of Himself. He gave Himself completely so that we could be made whole.

I am encouraging every believer to take communion as an act of faith for this season we are in. Stand in the finished works of Jesus, remember His promises and declare them over your life and the lives of your loved ones. Your divine health, wellness, wholeness, and healing were secured when Jesus took all of your sickness upon His shoulders. Communion is an act of faith and agreement, remembering His covenant with us.

I thought it was necessary to have a conversation centered around RECEIVING. We talk a lot giving, and rightfully so, but there is a time to receive as well. In fact, the vast majority of our walk with the Lord is predicated on receiving what He already accomplished for us. However, I think that sometimes we want to make it more complicated than it really is. We want to mix works in with what God has done. We think we should have to pay for stuff that Jesus already paid for. It's unnecessary. We have to use balance with this discussion, but it is important to recognize that there is so much available to the sons and daughters of God through inheritance. We are co-heirs and joint-heirs with Christ. The book of Hebrews tells us that we are receiving an unshakable Kingdom (Hebrews 12:28). The Father desires to give us His Kingdom, so we have to be willing and able to receive so that we can turn around and demonstrate this Kingdom (and the nature of the King) to the world around us.

Those are mindsets that we have to leave behind in order to press on to the JOY set before us. The GRACE of God is present for the assignment that He's given you. Who are you to say that you don't have what it takes? It's time to execute on the plans of God in 2020.
