<itunes:author>Jake Andersen</itunes:author>
<itunes:summary>I started at a 19.3 handicap in August 2020, currently at 10.0. The Goal is Scratch Golf! Join the journey to zero—one stroke at a time!

Every week, we'll go over what I did to work on my game. I'll share what my handicap was at the beginning of the week, and then walk you through my round that week. I share what score I needed to improve my handicap, and whether or not I shot that score. We'll talk about what went wrong (usually mental game issues) and what went right. Then I'll tell you what differential is getting knocked out of my last 20 rounds, and what my score did to my handicap.

I BUILT this channel for weekend warriors, mid-to-high handicappers, and anyone obsessed with progress.

<itunes:summary>Can a simple formula really help you break 80? In this episode of I Tried…, I put Golf Sidekick’s famous 666 system to the test. The idea is straightforward: 6 GIRs, 6 up & downs, and no more than 6 over par on the “birthday” holes. But does it actually work when you’re out on the course?

I’ll walk you through how I approached my round using the 666 strategy, what decisions it forced me to make, and whether it changed my mindset under pressure. You’ll hear the highs, the slip-ups, and the final scorecard.

If you’ve ever wondered whether course management can shave strokes off your game—or if it’s just another golf gimmick—this episode is for you.</itunes:summary>

Episode 1: THE Bounceback

Ever had a rough start to your golf round but managed to turn it around? In this episode, I recap my latest round where the first two holes nearly derailed me — but with a stronger mental approach and smarter decisions, I found my rhythm and bounced back to finish solid.

I’ll take you shot by shot, breaking down:

What my handicap was before the round
The score I needed to drop my handicap
My mental strategy after a tough start
How I adjusted my decisions on each hole
Key lessons to take into practice this week
This podcast follows my journey to scratch golf, sharing the highs, lows, and everything in between. If you’ve ever battled back from a tough stretch or struggled with the mental side of golf, this episode is for you.
