Sonya Hollins is an amazing author and a gifted publisher, but after hearing her story I think the journey she took to become those things carries just as much weight for On Your Terms listeners as the finish line. What I find fascinating and powerful about her story is how she constantly had to fight for herself--and then realize that she needed to fight for others who follow behind her.

Episode 27: When Car Troubles Require Military Patience

I've counted them all up. Eight total walk interruptions now, each of them completely unique to themselves. As my mama says, 'the beginning of the mission takes longer than the rest,' and I'm finding that true--yet I'm not phased by it.

This bonus episode is designed for you to be a part of the Walk for Water in a couple of ways. First, we are planning our steps live in this podcast. No faking it for the camera. Eva J. (my partner and driver for this journey, Evans Jr.) and I are making decisions live during this episode. The big one: what are we going to do about the car that has surprisingly come up with a couple of different issues. Hear how we thought we had overcome one...only to create/uncover another. It's not lost on me that I set out to walk 5,000+ miles and on day 2, an injury has stopped me right in my tracks. This episode is more than just an update on the "Walk for Water". In fact, my partner Evans Chitukutuku and I devoted this episode to explaining what's happened, what's happening now and how this walk has been permanently changed. While change can be scary, I have been trusting God through the entire preparation stage of the Walk for Water--and I'm not going to stop now. Hear how police encounters in Namibia, a foot injury and a level 11 commitment have transformed the Walk for Water in ways I didn't expect--and how I'm thankful for every minute of it.
