PRESS ON toward the GOAL

I remember in 2009, I was taking my second class in The Graduate all Christian Ministries program. I decided to do my final paper on the Old Testament Covenant. I thought this would be a great idea because I didn't know very much about the topic and writing a paper on the subject would be a great way to learn about it. Because I did come to graduate school in order to understand the Bible at the highest level possible. This topic entailed more detail than I ever thought possible. I probably bit off more than I can chew. And the professor was An Old Testament scholar. When I received my final paper, I had a grade of a D-. Thankfully, I had A’s on all the other assignments in this class. This allowed me to receive a B- in the class. I took the next semester off because my mother had become ill and needed help with her care. But when I went back to school, I decided to use this paper as an example about not to do a research paper. I got an A on every single Paper I did after that and one B. This reminds me all of Philippians 3:13-14, Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (World English Bible). ATTITUDE of GRATITUDE

I remember a time in my life when I would wake up in the morning and my attitude would be: “oh God it's morning” instead of thank God it's morning. Yet, the small practice of taking a moment to say 3 to 5 things that I am grateful for really began to make a difference. This practice changes your mindset for the day and brings a positive vibe to those around you. You'll begin to see how much better you are in things you do everyday. And it will help you to achieve your goals and dreams for the future. So, It looks like things aren't going your way, just take a moment to say what you're thankful for. This reminds me of 1 Thessalonians 5:18, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (New International Version). Remember to share this podcast with others. ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD

I remember in the Year 2008, I felt that God was calling me to go back to school for my masters in Christian Ministry. So, my wife and I began a three-day fast in order to confirm that we were hearing from God about this. Three days later after fasting, we agreed that God was calling me go back to school. I decided to attend Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana because we had heard good things about this college from a Christian Missionary we had met. After attending Bethel for about one year, I decided to transfer to Luther Rice in Lithonia, Georgia in order to pursue a Master of Divinity. But two years into the program, I felt God was calling me to leave school in order to pursue work in the Ministry. However, all of the classes I had taken would not qualify for a degree from Luther Rice. Yet, all of the classes I had taken would qualify for a Master of Ministries degree at Bethel. So, I petitioned Bethel College for readmission into the Master of Ministries program. Bethel agreed to readmit me into the program. After taking two classes I would be eligible for graduation. I completed the two classes and graduated with my Master of Ministries Degree in 2013. This story reminds me of Romans 8:28,We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose (World English Bible). DO YOU HAVE FAITH?

Recently, A co-worker told me that when she was studying for her degree, she was in a training program at the company we currently work for. They told her, “if you complete your degree and the training program, we will hire you to work here.” But when she finished her degree and the training program, they said, “we are no longer hiring new graduates.” So, she decided to write a letter to the CEO, stating, “I kept my part of the verbal contract, so your company should keep their part of the verbal contract.” She drove over to the corporate office in order to present her letter to the CEO. But when she got there the CEO’s secretary was not in but the CEO’s office door was wide open. The CEO was not in either. So, she placed the letter on his desk and left the office. One week later, she received a call from the human resources department with a job offer. This reminds me of James 2:26, “even so faith apart from works is dead (World English Bible).” You can wish, hope and pray all you want but true faith has work attached to it. One translation says, real faith has corresponding action. Please share this podcast with others. JOY comes in the MORNING

I remember in 1999, I was struggling in Bible College and in Life. Looking back, I believe this was an attack of the enemy. My wife told me to call her coworkers' wife; she was a pastor. When speaking to me, she said, “go to sleep you will have your answer in the morning.” I was thinking, this is a really big problem and you're telling me to go to sleep. The next morning,I found a package behind my door. When I opened it, it was the last paper I had written for Bible College. I received an A- on the paper and a B for the overall class grade. This was enough to encourage me to continue to fight “the good fight of faith.” It reminds me of Psalm 30:5, Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning (World English Bible). I noticed recently that it is better to just call it a day and go to sleep, instead of trying to stay up to complete the work or solve the problem. I have a much better perspective after a good night's sleep. Please share this podcast with others. POWERFUL and EFFECTIVE PRAYER

In 2000, I received a call from the Bible College I was attending, stating that I was past due on my tuition. This was hard to understand because I thought I had received a full scholarship when I was admitted to the college. I told the College that I would have to stop attending and work off my debt, before I would be able to come back. I called my pastor, he prayed that God would move Heaven and Earth to work this situation out. Later that day, I received a call from the college, stating that they would apply a portion of my current student loan to the past due bill. This would allow me to continue attending. And I would not have to stop attending. In 2001, my car was hit on the way to work by an uninsured driver. I was overwhelmed with the fact that I had lost income due to the accident. And now I had to cover my insurance deductible and a percentage of the rental car cost. Again, I called my pastor and we prayed about the situation. Later that day, when speaking to the insurance company they said my insurance covered lost wages. These wages helped me to pay the deductible and cost of car rental. James 5:16 states, The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. If you are right with God, you have a 100 percent greater chance of Him answering your prayer. HEALING for BROKEN EMOTIONS

I remember in 1999 falling into a state of depression that lasted for about 12 years. I had been working in my chosen profession for about 4 years. The job I had been working at was one in which if you were given a hundred tasks but got one wrong the supervisor would come and speak with you about it. Normally if you took a test and got 99% that would be considered good. But at this place of work that wasn't enough. Finally, after about 4 years it was more than I could bear at the time. I found myself depressed and could not understand why. With some processing I was able to understand that some issues throughout my life had played a part in this final blow. My dad began to cheat on my mom when I was about three years old. Although I had nothing to do with this I felt rejected. When playing baseball in the schoolyard I was always one of the last picked on a team. During my high school days when trying out four different sports I was either cut from the team or if chosen never really seen any playing time. When I started my career and it seemed to demand such perfection this was a straw that broke the camel's back. I can really relate with individuals in a similar situation. I'm sure you have heard of people that are you so depressed they don't even shower. I was never at that point but sometimes the simplest tasks could take an entire day. Finally, about 7 years later I found a book on a discount rack at Walmart. It was a very small book about 3 in by 5 in and around a hundred pages. It was called Healing for Damaged Emotions by David Seamands https://amzn.to/3aFJRuz. David Seamand is a Christian minister with great revelation On how the human soul becomes wounded and how the human soul can be whole again. In 2007 while reading this book, I came across the scripture in 1 John 3:1, See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! It was the beginning of my understanding of who I was in Christ Jesus. And that was the beginning of my healing from depression. It did not happen overnight. In fact, it did take another 5 to 6 years. But the healing did come. I would recommend this book to anybody suffering from any type of emotional distress. God's Blessing brings Wealth

I remember when I got married. My wife and I rented a basement apartment from one of her co-workers. We paid $400 a month. The apartment included a large living room, a large eat-in kitchen, a nice sized bedroom and full bathroom. Plus, all utilities were included even a hookup for cable TV and telephone at no cost. The only downfall was when things needed maintenance the landlord was not very quick to respond. After about 3 years of living there, we began to look for a property to purchase. No matter how hard we looked, we couldn't find anything. I continued to look despite feeling in my heart that it may not be the right time to make a move. So, We decided to take a chance on a rent-to-own condo. Shortly, after we got into the home, I realized we had made a mistake. You could hear everything that went on in the building. The owners of the condo below us would play loud music all night and smoke marijuana all day. And the work that was needed on the condo was more than we could handle at the time. The drive to work for me was more than I had bargained for. During this time I discovered the Scripture, Proverbs 10:22 , “Yahweh's blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. So, I repented and we moved back to the same city that we had come from before the move. I'm not saying that if you're in a similar situation that you would have to move back to the previous City you lived in but that is what we did. We found an apartment for $475 a month. And this time we did have to pay utilities. But with the 9 months we found a home. And this time we prayed that it was not God's will for us then please don't let the owner accept our offer. We purchased a two-bedroom, 1350 square foot home from the original owner and received $600 cash back at close. So, we purchased a home with no money down. God is good. despite the mistakes I had made in purchasing the condo He still gave us a beautiful home that we lived in for 15 years. I believe my repentance has something to do with it. But, ultimately God had everything to do with it. Please share this podcast with others. Are YOU Hungry for GOD?

I remember when I began to investigate Christianity. It was right after I heard the voice of God say,”You have tried everything to be happy. Why don't you see what the Christians have to live for?” I went home and took a Bible off my closet shelf. It was given to me a year prior and I never intended to read it. But I began to read it. Then I started watching church on TV every Sunday. I would watch it on a television that had a UHF signal. You had to dial it in the channel like a radio. I could never see the picture because it was to fuzzy. But the pastor seemed so happy to be talking about Jesus. So, I would listen every Sunday. when I was dating my wife there were many times we would spend the entire evening watching Christian television. And when we got married, we would attend our Sunday morning service, then attend her sister's Church service. Then go back to our church for evening service or to another church for a special Sunday night service. You can see that I was hungry for God. I remember a saying, “if they were to haul you into court will there be enough evidence to convict you for being a Christian.” And in my case, I guess there is evidence. If you're a Christian I feel far from God, why don't you open up your Bible and begin to read it. or why don't you stream a church service to your computer or listen to a podcast. it won't be long until you become hungry for God again. Because you have a promise in Matthew 5:6, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. HEARING the VOICE of GOD

I remember before I was a Christian, I was somewhere I should not have been, doing things I should not have been doing. When someone tried to rob me. They asked me for all my money. And I had no money on me. But I was wearing a gold cross that was given to me. The individual that gave it to me said, “the chain is so strong that if somebody tries to steal it, thet chain will never break. But, fortunately the chain did break that day. The robber snatched it and ran. I said I was a Christian. But, actually I had no clue what that meant. I was a seeker. I was seeking for God. Within seconds of the cross being pulled from my neck, I heard a voice. It was not audible. Yet, it said, “you have tried everything to be happy, why don't you see what the Christians have to live for. That was the start of my journey to understand Christianity. You will hear 3 voices in your life. You will hear your own voice; you will here Satan's voice; and you will hear the voice of God. John 10:27 says, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. That's why you must study the Bible, the Word of God. Because the Word is God (John 1:1). By studying the Word, you will know God's voice when you hear it because God's voice sounds like His Word. And this is the help you will need in order to know His voice. Why Nice Guys Finish Last

Growing up my dad had a good job. But, unfortunately he would spend his paycheck on what he wanted and not what we needed. This meant that we spent a lot of time in our home without utilities. And we would have went without food if it wasn't for my mom's parents. If I can remember correctly my grandparents bought our groceries for about a 10-year period. From the age I was 5 years old, all the way until I was 15 years old. When I look back over my life, no matter how bad it was, I can remember the good times. I remember the times my grandfather would give me 5 dollars for a good report card and then my grandmother would give me another 5 dollars for the same report card. She would say, “don’t say anything to your grandfather about this. I would spend every Saturday with my grandparents growing up. And my grandfather would take our family out to lunch every time. My grandparents always made sure that myself and my siblings always had a gift for our birthdays and Christmas. Towards the end of her life my grandmother won woman of the year for all the great things she had done in her life. Like giving blood more frequently than allowed during World War II. Despite all the things my grandparents did during their lifetimes, I never heard them speak about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. But the Bible says in John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life (World English Bible). God standard is perfection but we are not perfect. So, He sent his son as a sacrifice for our sins. God's Looking for You!

I remember at about age 10 years old going to my grandfather's house On my father's side Of the family. My grandfather would be watching the 700 Club. The host Pat Robertson would be talking about topics I did not understand. And then he would tell you to lay your hands on the TV screen that he wants to pray with you. My grandfather would say do you watch this guy? Do you watch the 700 Club. I remember thinking I'm just a kid; why would I want to watch this. But the Bible reads in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations (World English Bible).” And 2 Peter 3:9 reads, The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance (World English Bible). God was using my grandfather to reveal Himself to me. And he's been looking for relationship with you before you were born. You may be thinking like me; Who is this crazy guy telling me about God. Let's begin today's teaching with our foundational text for the series. Proverbs 6:2 says, you are trapped by the words of your mouth: you are ensnared by the words of your mouth. 1) Live in the Authority of God's Word. Psalm 1:2-3 reads, 2 But his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water that produces its fruit in its season whose leaf also does not wither (World English Bible). 2) Live in the Power of God's Word. Hebrews 4:12 reads, 12 For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart (World English Bible). 3) Live in the Power of God's Spoken Word. Isaiah 55:11 reads, 11 so is my word that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do (World English Bible). God’s word is not powerless; It is only powerless when unspoken. So, speak the Word of God. Because You can Have what You Say! Remember to share this podcast with others. Let's begin today's teaching with our foundational text for the series. Proverbs 6:2 says, you are trapped by the words of your mouth: you are ensnared by the words of your mouth.

1) Establish a God-Like Confession.

Matthew 16:19 says, I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven (World English Bible).” So what are you going to say about your situation?

2) Establish a God-Like Confession on Earth.

Psalms 119:89 says, Yahweh, your word is settled in Heaven forever (World English Bible). So what are you going to say about your situation? Because your situation on earth has already been settled in Heaven.

3) Establish a God-Like Confession in Your Life.

Psalms 89:34 says, I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered (World English Bible). So what are you going to say about your situation? Because you have a covenant with the Almighty God.

4) Establish a God-Like Confession because it Brings Results.

Romans 10:17 says, So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (World English Bible). So what are you going to say about your situation?

Because You can Have what You Say! God’s Word Brings Results.

Words that Create: Part 1

Let's begin today's teaching with our foundational text for the series. Proverbs 6:2 says, you are trapped by the words of your mouth: you are ensnared by the words of your mouth. 1) Words are the Most Powerful Thing in the Universe. Remember in Mark 11:23 Jesus said, For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening; he shall have whatever he says (World English Bible). 2) God Never does Anything without Saying it First. Remember Genesis 1:3 says, And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light (World English Bible). Jesus utilized this principle while he was on Earth. He spoke to the wind, sea, demons, dead men and a tree. 3) Imitate God as Children Imitate their Parents. Ephesians 5:1 reads, Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children (World English Bible). And Mark 11:22 reads, Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God (World English Bible). The literal translation of Mark 11:22 is "Have faith of God." 4) If God Spoke Faith Filled Words, You can too. Now we're going to conclude today's series. So this will be the last teaching in this series. But don't worry because the mission of BlogwithJesus.com is to preach the uncompromised word of God. So you can know that you're going to hear the doctrine of believe the word, speak the word, and manifest the promise. But let's go into our teaching today and we're going to talk about Genesis chapter 1 verse 3. Now we've heard this text so many times throughout the series. But sometimes we kind of become numb to something we hear all the time and we lose the revelation of it. But if you look in Genesis chapter 1 verse 3 it says and god said let there be light and there was light. You see God did not look out upon the darkness and say oh wow is it so dark out there i'll never see light. He said let there be light and there was light. So point number one is that you need to: 1) Speak What You Want in Life And then if we look at proverbs chapter 18 verse 21 it says death and life ironed a power to tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. See everything that you have in your life began with something you spoke. You said i'd like to go to college and then you went to college, you said i'd like to work for this certain company and then you worked for that company, you said i'd like to get married and then you got married. So everything we have in life, it comes first with something that we speak from our mouth. So point number two is: 2) Speak God's Will for Your Life Remember to share this podcast with others. Ephesians 1:3-4 reads, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love (World English Bible). 1) You already got it. God said, He “has blessed.” 2) Speak the Word. Because God's plan for you was established before the foundation of the world. So, speak words of agreement with His plan and walk out His plan. This is why Jesus could heal people before he went to the cross. As he was a lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). Remember to share this podcast with others. Let's pick up our teaching today in Genesis 11. Genesis 11:1-9 reads, the whole earth was of one language and of one speech. 2 As they traveled east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they lived there. 3 They said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. 4 They said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let’s make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth.” 5 Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built. 6 Yahweh said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do. 7 Come, let’s go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So Yahweh scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city. 9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there Yahweh confused the language of all the earth. From there, Yahweh scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth (World English Bible). There are many things we can learn from this study and l will give you four of them. 1) Speaking in Agreement with God has Always been His Plan. 2) But Man has Desired to "Do his Own Thing." 3) God Stopped Them by Doing Something with Their Words. 4) God's Will for Your Words is First Agree with His Word. The individuals in this text we're trying to build a tower to the heavens by the power of their words. Since this was not God's will He decided to stop them by confusing their speech. If we speak the word of God and the will of God we will have good success. Remember, in Mark chapter 11, Jesus said you can have what you say. Remember to share this podcast with others. Let's pickup where we left off last week with Mark chapter 11. Mark 11:22-24 says, 22 And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God; 23 for verily I say to you, that whoever may say to this mount, Be taken up, and be cast into the sea, and may not doubt in his heart, but may believe that the things that he saith do come to pass, it shall be to him whatever he may say. 24 Because of this I say to you, all whatever -- praying -- ye do ask, believe that ye receive, and it shall be to you (Young's Literal Translation). Jesus said you can have what you say but you must believe what you say. Notice in verse 22 it reads, Have faith of God. God does not doubt and you shouldn't either. 1) You must Believe what You Say Romans 4:20-21 reads regarding Abraham, 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised (King James Version). 2) You must Not Waver through Unbelief Romans 14:5 says, 5 Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind (King James Version). Abraham was fully persuaded according to Romans 4:21. 3) You must be Fully Persuaded in Your Own Mind Remember to share this podcast with others. I heard a story about a man that believed for a new car, airplane and home. He got them. He did this through the Law of Confession. But he had not developed the faith required to pay for these items. He responded with this fate stuff doesn't work. 1) Begin on Your Level Jesus said, “for which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it” (Luke 14:28 World English Bible)? When it comes to confessing the word of God most people want to be a three-day Wonder. But you have to develop your faith. You can’t build a three-story house with one-story faith. Do not throw away all good business practices. 2) You must Believe what You Say Mark 11:23-24 says, 23 “For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening; he shall have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them” (World English Bible). Jesus said you can have what you say but you must believe what you say. Remember faith comes by hearing. You have to develop your faith. Remember to share this podcast with others. Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;” that is, the word of faith which we preach: 9 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. When you were Born Again you confessed the Word. You believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth. Practice what you preach; Preach what you practice. If you believe the doctrine of confession you will practice what you preach; and preach what you practice. Remember, God called Abraham the Father of Nations. So, every time he heard his name it was building his faith in that promise. Faith comes by hearing. So, be careful of how you speak. Revelation is calling things that are not as though they were. How can you lie saying what God said. Every time you confess the word, even though it has not manifested, you are not telling a lie. Because the word is true. In the last session we learned that faith comes by hearing the word of God. In the same way, you could say that faith in the devil comes by hearing the words of the devil. 1) Put the word of God in your mouth Joshua 1:8 says, this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. 2) God's word believed in the heart and spoken out of the mouth brings the manifestation of the promise. Romans 10:17 says, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Faith comes by Hearing. Confessing the Promises of God from the word of God brings faith for the promise. One year ago, I took a job that required me to interpret EKGs. I began to confess that I read EKGs better than anybody. And when I took the competency Test, I received a score of 100%. You are the Number One Hearer of Your Confession. Ephesians 4:29 says, Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. I heard a story of an individual that was exhausted from his current job. He said to himself, if I can just make it one more day until the weekend, I will be okay. But prior to leaving for work he got into an argument with his wife. He said if you keep it up you will cause me to quit my job. When he got to work, He was told that the office was short-staffed and his workload would be increased by 33% that day. On the spot, he decided to resign and go home. Again, you are the number one hearer of your confession. You have to Understand points 1 and 2. Finally, Confession is to Faith as gas is to an automobile.
