]]> <p>When I started my time of incarceration, I thought like most of you probably do, that what runs a prison system is stuff like, fear, intimidation, the gangs, violence, drugs. And while each of those can play its own major part, it&#39;s not the underlying current that connects it all.</p><p><br></p><p>In the end what the system holds over an inmates head to get them compliant and motivated, is simply food. Controlling that one fundamental aspect of our lives as inmates always gave the system both guards and fellow inmates total control.</p><p><br></p><p>In this episode, the first of a two part on this subject, I will lay out the basics of how food is distributed in prison and the psychology behind it. There are some stories peppered in, but most of those will come in the next episode. It&#39;s hard to share those stories without relaying what it is like to have someone have so much power and control over you the way food can be used over another.</p><p><br></p><p>Please feel free to reach out with questions or comments.
