This was my first time joining in and this session with Kava Beats was a fun one. I played one of my favorite rhythm games with the group, layering multiple conversations over each other as I periodically shifted my focus collaborating with a different person every few minutes. The result was a pleasing journey in rhythm.

Before transitioning to the set of resident DJ, Scott Houston, a crew of percussionists join together at the center of the event space for a live rhythm performance. Afterwards, the crew drums in support of Scott Houston's set.


For this dance, I was given the role of live rhythm lead to support singer, Shonali Banerjee, and filled out the crew with a variety of cultural music sounds as well as friends I've jammed with frequently in community drum circles around Georgia.
