<itunes:summary>EP. 030 | The Spiritual Discipline of Community: Why You Weren’t Meant to Do Faith Alone

We live in a world that praises independence—but the truth is, following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey.

In this episode of Unearthed & Unhinged, we explore the spiritual discipline of community and the tension many of us feel: we know church isn’t just a building… but we’re not always sure what real, life-giving community actually looks like.

Together, we unpack what Scripture says about doing life with others, why biblical community is essential for spiritual growth, and how isolation—whether chosen or caused by past hurt—can quietly weaken our faith.

This conversation dives into the difference between attending something and truly belonging, and why walking toward Jesus alongside others is one of the most transformative disciplines we can practice.

If you’ve ever felt disconnected, burned by church experiences, or unsure how to build authentic relationships rooted in faith—this episode is for you.

Because community isn’t about perfection.

It’s about people choosing to pursue Jesus… together.</itunes:summary>

Physical • Mental • Emotional

What if caring for your health wasn’t just a personal choice… but a spiritual responsibility?

In this episode of Unearthed & Unhinged, we’re diving into a discipline that often gets overlooked in conversations about faith—stewarding our health. Not from a place of pressure, perfection, or performance—but from a posture of faithfulness.

Because the truth is…

this is the only body you get.

Together, we unpack what it really means to care for your physical, mental, and emotional health as an act of worship—not vanity. Not selfishness. Not control. But stewardship.

We explore:

Why your body is not your own—and why that changes everything
How physical health impacts your capacity to serve God and others
The connection between mental health and spiritual maturity
Why emotional health matters more than we often admit
The danger of burnout disguised as faithfulness
And how Jesus Himself modeled rest, limits, and sustainability
This conversation isn’t about doing more.

It’s about doing what matters—with wisdom, intention, and obedience.

If you’ve ever believed:

“I don’t have time to take care of myself…”

“It feels selfish to focus on my health…”

“God will just sustain me no matter what…”

We gently challenge those narratives and invite you into something better.

You’ll also walk away with simple, practical ways to start stewarding your health today—one small, faithful step at a time.

Because caring for your health isn’t stepping away from your calling…

it may be exactly how God sustains you in it.</itunes:summary>

Money is rarely just about money.

In this episode of Unearthed & Unhinged: Sacred Text. Modern Life. Resilient Faith., we explore the spiritual discipline of biblical stewardship and what it means to trust God with your finances and other resources like time.

If everything belongs to God (Psalm 24:1), how should we manage what He has entrusted to us?

In Ep. 028, we discuss:

• Why Jesus talked about money so often

• The difference between ownership and stewardship

• How generosity shapes spiritual maturity

• Financial anxiety, contentment, and control

• Practical rhythms for aligning money and faith

This isn’t about guilt. It’s about alignment.

Because your spending often reveals what you truly trust.

Whether you’re in abundance or rebuilding, this episode will challenge you to see money not as a measure of worth — but as a tool for worship and eternal impact.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Ep. 027 | The Spiritual Discipline of Service

Learning to Love Without Needing to Be Seen

Most of us don’t mind serving… until it costs us convenience.

We love to help—just not when it’s invisible, inconvenient, or completely unappreciated.

In this episode, we’re unpacking the spiritual discipline of service and why it’s about so much more than being helpful. Service isn’t primarily for others—it’s one of the primary ways God forms us. When practiced intentionally, service confronts our pride, loosens our grip on control, and reshapes our hearts to look more like Christ’s.

We’ll look at Jesus as the ultimate model of service—not just in what He taught, but in how He lived. From constant interruptions to washing His disciples’ feet, Jesus shows us that authority in the Kingdom flows through humility, not visibility. The highest authority took on the lowest task—and then told us to do the same.

We’ll also get honest about the difference between serving and people-pleasing—because not all “yeses” are obedience. True service flows from love and obedience, not fear of disapproval or a need for affirmation. And when that line gets blurred, burnout isn’t far behind.

Learning to Stop, Listen, and Trust God Enough to Rest

We say we’re exhausted… but when God invites us to rest, we suddenly don’t know how.

And silence? We love the idea of it—until it actually happens.

In this episode, we’re diving into two often-neglected spiritual disciplines that quietly push back against hurry, noise, and hustle culture: Silence and Sabbath (Shabbat). These practices aren’t about withdrawing from life—they’re about re-centering our lives around God instead of productivity, urgency, and constant output.

We’ll talk about why silence feels so uncomfortable, what it reveals about our inner world, and how Scripture shows us silence as a place of attentiveness—not emptiness. From Jesus withdrawing to lonely places to Elijah encountering God in a gentle whisper, we’ll explore how God often speaks when everything else quiets down.

Then we’ll turn to Sabbath—not as a spiritual nap or a bonus practice for people with margin, but as a gift and a declaration of trust. Sabbath reminds us that God provides, that the world keeps turning without our striving, and that our identity is rooted in being God’s people—not in what we produce.

This episode is an invitation to resist the lie that everything depends on you…

to move from doing to being…

and to relearn how to stop long enough to listen—and rest—in the presence of God.

If your soul feels tired, noisy, or constantly “on,” this one’s for you.</itunes:summary>

Knowing God by Knowing His Word

We say we want to know God—but how often do we slow down to truly listen to what He’s already said?

In this episode of Unearthed & Unhinged, we explore the spiritual discipline of studying the Bible—not as homework, pressure, or a spiritual performance, but as a relational practice of intimacy with God. Scripture is not meant to be mastered for information or arguments; it is meant to form us, renew our minds, and draw us deeper into who God actually is.

If you’ve ever thought:

“I want to read the Bible, but I don’t know where to start,”
“I read it, but I don’t always understand it,” or
“I feel guilty when I miss days,”
...this conversation is for you.

We talk about why Bible study is a spiritual discipline, not just a habit—and how disciplines shape us slowly and faithfully over time. You’ll hear why relying only on sermons, podcasts, or social media clips can never replace personal engagement with Scripture, and how God uses His Word to anchor us when emotions fluctuate and culture distorts truth.

You’ll also be introduced to multiple approachable ways to engage Scripture, including:

Listening to the Bible in busy or neurodivergent seasons
Slow, intentional reading for context
Lectio Divina (sacred, prayerful reading)
Inductive Bible study (observe, interpret, apply)
Topical and thematic studies
Studying Scripture in community
Memorizing Scripture as a form of internalizing truth—not performance
Throughout the episode, we return to a central reminder: studying the Bible is about formation, not information. Scripture convicts, comforts, corrects, and calls us deeper—not into perfection, but into relationship. It’s okay to wrestle. It’s okay to ask questions. God is not threatened by curiosity.

We also gently reframe common barriers like lack of time, lack of understanding, and guilt—inviting listeners to start small, stay consistent, and approach God’s Word with curiosity instead of pressure.

If you’re longing to know God more deeply, this episode invites you to come to Scripture not to check a box—but to meet a Person.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Episode 024 | The Spiritual Disciplines of Prayer & Fasting

Prayer and fasting are two of the most talked-about spiritual disciplines—and often the most misunderstood.

In this episode, we explore what prayer and fasting actually are (and what they are not). These practices aren’t spiritual shortcuts, hunger strikes for God’s attention, or performance-based rituals meant to earn favor. Instead, they are sacred rhythms designed to reorient our hearts, quiet the noise, and create space for deeper dependence on God.

We talk about:

-Prayer as relational communication, not religious obligation
-Fasting as intentional surrender, not self-punishment
-Why fasting is less about what you’re giving up and more about what you’re making room for
-How these disciplines expose what we rely on—and invite us to trust God more fully
-Practical ways to engage prayer and fasting in sustainable, grace-filled ways

Whether you’ve practiced these disciplines for years or you’re just beginning, this episode invites you to move beyond formulas and into formation. Not striving—but abiding. Not impressing—but listening.

This is an invitation to slow down, lean in, and let God do the deeper work that only happens when we stop filling every moment—and start making room.</itunes:summary>

Instead, they are sacred rhythms designed to reorient our hearts, quiet the noise, and create space for deeper dependence on God.</p><p>We talk about:</p><ul><li>Prayer as relational communication, not religious obligation</li><li>Fasting as intentional surrender, not self-punishment</li><li>Why fasting is less about what you’re giving up and more about what you’re making room for</li><li>How these disciplines expose what we rely on—and invite us to trust God more fully</li><li>Practical ways to engage prayer and fasting in sustainable, grace-filled ways</li></ul><p>Whether you’ve practiced these disciplines for years or you’re just beginning, this episode invites you to move beyond formulas and into formation. Not striving—but abiding. Not impressing—but listening.</p><p>This is an invitation to slow down, lean in, and let God do the deeper work that only happens when we stop filling every moment—and start making room.</p>

<itunes:summary>Episode 023 | The Spiritual Discipline of Worship | Guest Maggie Trowell

Worship is often reduced to a song, a Sunday moment, or an emotional experience—but Scripture paints a far deeper picture.

In this episode, I’m joined by Maggie Trowell to explore worship as a spiritual discipline, one that shapes not just what we sing, but how we live. Together, we unpack the truth that worship is rooted in sacrifice—the daily, intentional offering of ourselves to God.

We talk about how biblical worship has always cost something: time, comfort, pride, control. From Old Testament sacrifices to Paul’s call to live as a “living sacrifice,” worship has never been passive. It is active obedience. It is surrender. It is choosing God again and again—especially when it’s inconvenient.

This conversation invites us to rethink worship beyond music and into the rhythms of everyday faith:
What does it mean to worship when no one is watching?
How does sacrifice refine our love for God?
And how does a disciplined life of worship reorient our hearts, habits, and priorities?
If you’ve ever felt disconnected from worship, tired of surface-level faith, or curious about how worship forms us spiritually—this episode is for you.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Ep. 022 | Spiritual Disciplines: Formation, Not Performance

What is spirituality—and why has Christianity practiced spiritual disciplines for centuries?

In Episode 22, we launch a brand-new series on Christian spiritual disciplines, exploring spirituality not as a personality type or emotional experience, but as capacity—our ability to relate to God, the unseen world, and the sacred rhythms of everyday life.

This episode lays the foundation for understanding how spiritual disciplines have historically shaped Christian faith, formation, and discipleship. Drawing from classic spiritual writers and modern faith formation research—including Thirsty for God and The Critical Journey—we explore spirituality as lived experience, relational depth, and intentional practice.

You’ll hear why:

Everyone is spiritual, but not everyone is spiritually formed
Spiritual disciplines are not about earning God’s approval
Faith is a journey with seasons, stages, and setbacks
Growth requires movement, trust, and engagement—not perfection
Christian discipleship was always meant to be practiced in community
Rather than treating faith as a destination, this episode reframes Christianity as an ongoing journey—one that requires preparation, guidance, and practices that shape how we live, love, and trust God over time.

If you’ve ever felt stuck in your faith, burned out by religious performance, or unsure how to move forward spiritually, this episode sets the stage for a series designed to help you cultivate depth, resilience, and attentiveness to God’s work in your life.

This is not a checklist.

This is formation.

And it starts with learning how to keep moving.</itunes:summary>

                <itunes:summary>Ep. 021 | The God Who Doesn’t Give Up

Have you ever had that sinking feeling that you’ve officially messed things up beyond repair? The kind of moment that makes you replay every decision and wonder if God is quietly reconsidering His plans for you? Yeah… you’re not alone.

In this episode, we’re talking about the God who doesn’t quit—on Jonah, on Peter, on David, on the woman caught in adultery… and definitely not on you. Scripture tells one relentless story over and over again: a God who pursues, restores, and rewrites broken chapters with breathtaking grace.

We’ll unpack why shame has such a strong grip on us, why so many believers feel disqualified by their past, and why the Kingdom of God looks nothing like a cancel culture. From Jonah’s second call, to Peter’s breakfast-on-the-beach restoration, to David’s honest repentance, this episode reminds us that failure is never final when God is involved.

If you’ve believed the lie that you’ve failed too many times, wandered too far, or missed your chance—this conversation is for you. God’s second chances aren’t about hitting a reset button; they’re about resurrection. New life rising out of old ashes. Purpose rebuilt where shame once lived.

This is an invitation to return, to repent, to receive restoration, and to walk forward—imperfectly, but obediently—with a God who sees who you were created to be, not just where you’ve been.

Because the truth is simple and stunning:

It’s not over.

You’re not disqualified.

And we serve a God who doesn’t give up.</itunes:summary>

Sometimes the best thing we can do in this season is slow down…and let the story speak for itself.

Today’s bonus episode is a simple, heartfelt reading of Luke 2 — the story of Jesus’ birth, the shepherds’ awe, Simeon’s prophecy, and the first glimpses of the Savior who came to rescue us.

                <itunes:summary>Ep. 020 | The Christmas Fulfillment

We often talk about the birth of Jesus as a miracle — and it is. But it’s also a breathtaking display of divine precision.

In this episode, we explore seven major prophecies that Christ fulfilled in His birth and early childhood — at a time when He had no human ability to orchestrate any of it. From the place He was born, to the lineage He entered, to the timing, the protection, and even the threats surrounding His earliest days… every detail echoes a God who keeps His word with flawless intentionality.

These prophecies remind us that Jesus didn’t just appear in history — He arrived exactly as promised, in ways that only God Himself could accomplish.

If you need a fresh sense of awe this Christmas, or a reminder that God is faithful down to the finest detail, this episode will anchor your heart and stir your worship.

Come take a closer look at the prophecies that prove the Christmas story is more than beautiful…

It’s evidence.</itunes:summary>

Today’s episode is a little different — I’m sharing something I wrote a while ago about Jesus coming into the world on mission. It’s a reflection that’s been sitting with me this season, and I pray it blesses you as much as it blessed me while reading it.

In the middle of the holiday rush, may this remind you why He came, what He accomplished, and how deeply you are loved by the One who stepped into our world on purpose.

I hope it strengthens your faith and keeps your heart anchored in the beauty of this season.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Episode 019 | Have You Met My Friend Joseph?

Joseph doesn’t get many lines in Scripture… but his life speaks volumes.

In this episode, we take a closer look at the quiet, steady, deeply faithful presence of Jesus’s earthly father — a man who often stays in the background but plays a vital role in the unfolding story of redemption. Joseph models a kind of strength we don’t celebrate enough: obedience without applause, courage without spotlight, and righteousness rooted not in perfection, but in trust.

From his response to Mary’s impossible news, to his willingness to change his entire life on a word from God, Joseph shows us what it means to lead with humility, integrity, and sacrificial love.

If you’ve ever wondered how God uses ordinary, unseen faithfulness… or if you need a reminder that quiet obedience still changes history… this episode will encourage you deeply.

Come meet our friend Joseph — the man who helped raise the Messiah, one faithful step at a time.</itunes:summary>

Where Faith & Mental Health Meet with Dr. Amanda Devane isn’t just an interview — it’s an honest look at the places where our spiritual lives and our emotional lives overlap, strain, collide, and heal.

Amanda brings both professional insight and lived compassion, speaking into why mental health is often misunderstood in Christian spaces, how Scripture acknowledges the full weight of the human experience, and why faith isn’t the opposite of therapy — but a powerful companion to it.

This episode is gentle, real, and deeply grounding. If you’ve wrestled with anxiety, grief, depression, burnout, or ever felt like you “shouldn’t” be struggling… this conversation is for you.</itunes:summary>

Four unexpected women. One unstoppable redemption story.

In this episode, we uncover the bold, complicated, deeply human stories of Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba—the four unlikely women Matthew intentionally places in Jesus’ genealogy. Their lives are marked by scandal, loss, courage, foreign roots, and raw resilience. And yet, God weaves each of them directly into the lineage of the Messiah.

From Tamar’s fight for justice, to Rahab’s courageous faith, to Ruth’s unwavering loyalty, to Bathsheba’s restoration after profound injustice—this episode explores how God refuses to edit out the mess and instead builds redemption through the very people the world tries to disqualify.

What if “church” wasn’t a building you walk into, but a life you actually live out? In Part 1 of this powerful conversation with Jesse Bates, we step outside the sanctuary doors and into the everyday spaces where faith becomes real, resilient, and unmistakably alive.

Jesse joins us to unpack what it means to follow Jesus beyond Sunday mornings—into workplaces, neighborhoods, friendships, and all the places we sometimes overlook. And yes, that includes her own community hub, Sly Fox, where great coffee and genuine connection meet. Her stories from the shop beautifully show what it looks like when kingdom influence quietly threads its way into ordinary moments.

If you’ve ever felt the tension between the familiar rhythms of church life and the bold, outward-facing mission Jesus modeled, this one’s going to hit home.

Get ready to be challenged, encouraged, and inspired to take your faith beyond the four walls.</itunes:summary>

                <itunes:summary>Ep. 014 | Biblical Interpretation 101

Reading Scripture isn’t meant to be a passive experience—it’s an invitation to step into God’s story with intentionality and awe. In this episode, we’re diving into the foundational skill every believer needs: biblical interpretation.

We’ll talk about what it means to approach the Bible thoughtfully, learning how to peel back our modern perspectives and cultural assumptions so we can see the text as it was originally written and meant to be understood. It’s so easy to let our personal experiences, emotions, or even popular teachings shape how we read the Word, but if we want to know God’s truth—we have to be willing to set aside our lenses and go back to the source.

This episode breaks down the basics: how context shapes meaning, why genre matters, how to ask good questions of the text, and what it looks like to move from interpretation to transformation. Because studying the Bible isn’t just about getting smarter—it’s about being formed by the truth that’s already been spoken.

If you’ve ever wanted to understand Scripture more deeply, this episode is your starting point. Grab your Bible, your notebook, and a teachable spirit—we’re going back to the basics of how to rightly handle the Word of Truth.</itunes:summary>

We’re back for Part 2 of Messy Faith with my dear friend Danielle Raesz, and we’re diving even deeper into the hard, beautiful questions about who God is and how He meets us right in the middle of our mess.

In this episode, we talk about those “dumpster moments” — the ones where we walk ourselves straight into chaos, only to find that God shows up there too. He doesn’t shame us; He invites us toward holiness, reminding us that transformation is a lifelong process. The good news? Jesus already paid the cost.

If you’ve ever wrestled with doubts or wondered if God’s patience has a limit, this conversation will remind you that His grace never runs out.

If you’ve loved this conversation, go follow Danielle and her work at Live Unparalyzed, (www.liveunparalyzed.com) and send us a message if you have more questions or thoughts you’d love for us to unpack in a future episode!</itunes:summary>

Faith can be messy—and that’s where it gets real. In this episode, I sit down with my dear friend Danielle Raesz for an honest conversation about what it looks like to follow Jesus when life feels messy. Danielle is the founder of Live Unparalyzed, a personal trainer, nutritionist, and teacher who helps people pursue health—body, mind, and soul—rooted in God’s truth. She’s wise, funny, and refreshingly real. This is Part 1 of our chat (because, let’s be honest, neither of us can say a deep thought in under five minutes. lol.). You’re going to love this one. Also, go check Danielle out at Liveunparalyzed.com, you won't regret it!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>EPISODE 011: Have You Met My Friend, Naomi?
We often tell the story of Ruth as a love story—but this week, we’re looking at it through the eyes of Naomi.

Naomi’s story begins in deep grief—loss, emptiness, and the feeling that God had turned away. But what she couldn’t see was that redemption was already on the horizon. Through Ruth, God was quietly at work, restoring hope, rebuilding faith, and proving that His goodness never runs out.

In this episode, we explore how God meets us in our grief, our bitterness, and our “this can’t be fixed” moments—and how, like Naomi, we often discover that the blessing has been walking beside us the whole time.

Even when we can’t see it, God is still weaving redemption into our story.</itunes:summary>

                <itunes:summary>EPISODE 010: The Mentored Leader

So far in this series, we’ve looked at the Unexpected Leader and the Reluctant Leader. But what about the leader who is mentored—shaped not by their own brilliance, but by following closely in someone else’s footsteps?

In this episode, we explore what it means to be mentored in the faith through three powerful examples:

Joshua — Who are you following, and are they worth following? (Exodus 33:11)
Elisha — How hungry are you for the things of God, and will you keep pursuing when no one’s spoon-feeding you? (2 Kings 2)
And we’ll end with a challenge to the Church: Are we just filling seats, or are we truly mentoring disciples? Because mentoring means relationship, and discipleship cannot exist without it.

If we want leaders who endure and a Church that lasts, we can’t settle for shallow growth. We must invest in people, even if it slows the pace for a season. Long term, it’s the only way forward.</itunes:summary>

                <itunes:summary>EPISODE 009: The Reluctant Leader
What do you do when God calls you—and you’d rather run the other way?

In this episode, we step into Exodus 4 and watch Moses at the burning bush, wrestling with excuses, doubts, and fears. God’s question is simple but piercing: “What’s in your hand?”

Moses had a staff. You have gifts, opportunities, and influence. The question is—will you use them? Because when God calls, it’s not about your ability—it’s about your availability.

But here’s the sobering truth: if we choose not to move, God will still accomplish His purposes… He’ll just use someone else.

This is a conversation about calling, courage, and the cost of standing still.</itunes:summary>

Because when God calls, it’s not about your ability—it’s about your availability.</p><p>But here’s the sobering truth: if we choose not to move, God will still accomplish His purposes… He’ll just use someone else.</p><p>This is a conversation about calling, courage, and the cost of standing still.</p>

We know him as Peter—the rock, the bold one, the guy who spoke before thinking. But through the eyes of John’s Gospel, Simon Peter’s story is far more layered: impulsive yet loyal, flawed yet deeply loved, broken yet restored.

In this episode, we walk through Peter’s journey with Jesus—from first encounter to final commission—looking at what his life reveals about grace, calling, and perseverance.

By the end, you’ll be left with three deeply personal questions:
1️⃣ What do you need to be restored from?
2️⃣ Who are the sheep you’re called to tend?
3️⃣ Who do you need to encourage?

Peter’s story isn’t just his—it’s ours.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>📖 Episode 006 – Bible Basics Pt. 3: External Evidence

Where faith meets facts—and the dirt backs it up.

If the Bible claims to be the authority in our lives, can it actually stand up to external scrutiny?

In this final installment of our Bible Basics series, we're digging into four major areas that give Scripture undeniable credibility:

• History – Ancient records outside the Bible confirming biblical events

• Historical Accuracy – When the Bible was once doubted… and later proven right

• Ancient Manuscripts – How thousands of early copies confirm we’re reading the real thing

• Archaeology – Where reality meets dirt, and the past meets faith

God’s Word doesn’t just inspire—it holds up under the microscope.

Because truth isn’t afraid of being tested.

🎧 Tune in and explore how external evidence strengthens our internal confidence in Scripture.</itunes:summary>

We’ll explore:

Compilation History – How this sacred library came together over centuries
Composition – Why certain books made the cut (and others didn’t)
Self-Proclamation – What the Bible says about itself (Spoiler: it’s not shy)
Biblical Prophecy – Bold claims that were fulfilled in history
This isn’t just Bible trivia—it’s about building a solid foundation for resilient faith. Because if the Bible is what it claims to be, then it’s worth listening to—even when it gets uncomfortable.</itunes:summary>

The Bible isn't just a random collection of ancient writings—it's a carefully arranged, divinely inspired library of truth. In this episode, we’re pulling back the curtain on how the Bible is organized, why that matters, and how understanding its structure can actually transform the way you read it.

We’ll explore:

The difference between the Old and New Testaments
How genres like law, poetry, prophecy, gospels, and letters all work together
Why the order of books isn’t always chronological (and why that’s okay)
And how to stop feeling lost when you open your Bible
Whether you’re brand new to Scripture or just need a clearer framework, this episode is your on-ramp to deeper understanding.

                <itunes:summary>EPISODE 003: Called – Part 2

What does it actually look like to live out your calling?

In Part 2 of our “Called” series, we unpack two foundational pillars of calling straight from Scripture:

1️⃣ Be a blessing to the nations by making disciples.

2️⃣ Love God with your whole being—heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Deut 6:5 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
Matt 22: 37-38- Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.
Luke 10:27- He answered, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself.

From God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 12 to Jesus’ words in the Great Commission, this episode explores what it means to live a life that’s holy, Kingdom-first, and radically rooted in love. We’re not just called to do—we’re called to become.

If you’ve ever wondered what your purpose really is, this one’s for you.</itunes:summary>

In this episode, we dig deep into the Great Commission—Jesus’ final words on earth—and uncover the richness behind the familiar command to “go and make disciples.” With a look at the original Greek (don’t worry, it’s painless and powerful), we’ll rethink what it means to live a life on mission, right where you are.

Spoiler: Your calling isn’t about going somewhere far—it’s about living faithfully as you go.

Whether you feel confident in your purpose or completely unsure, this episode is your invitation to respond to the call with courage, clarity, and the everyday.</itunes:summary>

Welcome to the very first episode of Unearthed & Unhinged — where sacred text meets modern life and resilient faith is forged through honest conversation.

In this kickoff episode, host Glennis Lamm shares the heart behind the podcast: why she’s creating it, what you can expect, and how Scripture serves as the foundation for every conversation. You’ll hear about her journey as a speaker, teacher, and modern-day faith excavator (yes, she’s actually dug in the dirt at Magdala), and why now is the time for this unfiltered, Scripture-rooted conversation.

Expect deep dives into the Bible, real-life application, thought-provoking guests, live events, and space for you to ask the faith questions you’re not sure you’re allowed to say out loud.
(P.S. You can join our anonymous community — Faith Questions Anonymous — on the website to submit your questions for future episodes.)

If you’re tired of surface-level faith and hungry for something more grounded, more honest, and more alive — this show is for you.

Let’s dig in.

<itunes:summary>Welcome to Unearthed & Unhinged — where sacred text meets modern life and builds resilient faith.

I’m your host, Glennis Lamm — teacher, speaker, curious excavator of Scripture.

We don’t shy away from hard questions, ancient tensions, or spiritual growing pains. We dig into the Bible with reverence and curiosity — not to tame it, but to learn how to live it.

The Bible’s depth is something people have been trying to grasp since the beginning of the text. But that is the beauty and mystery — there’s always another layer to unearth.

Each episode we will unpack Scripture in meaningful ways, connect it to the grit and grace of real life, and invite you to wrestle, reflect, and build a resilient faith that can hold firm in life’s storms.

You’ll also hear from guests — real people sharing their own journeys of unearthing faith in unexpected places & ways. We’ll host live events, provide resources, and build a community where you can grow.

Also, if you’re feeling brave, you can join Faith Questions Anonymous — our not-so-secret society for the curious and the questioning. Submit a question on our website and you just might hear it unpacked on a future episode.

So if you’re longing for a faith that’s rooted, resilient , and real — this space is for you.

Let’s dig in. Let’s hold tension. Let’s build something unshakable.

We’ll host live events, provide resources, and build a community where you can grow. </p><p>Also, if you’re feeling brave, you can join <em>Faith Questions Anonymous</em> — our not-so-secret society for the curious and the questioning. Submit a question on our website and you just might hear it unpacked on a future episode.</p><p>So if you’re longing for a faith that’s rooted, resilient , and real — this space is for you.</p><p>Let’s dig in. Let’s hold tension. Let’s build something unshakable.</p><p><em>Unearthed &amp; Unhinged.</em> - Sacred text. Modern life. Resilient faith.</p>
