Kamran Pasha (whom I know from his many appearances with Diktor Von Doomcock of DVD Overlord fame) joins for a discussion on the mysteries of Sufism and his new screenplay on the occult life of Marilyn Monroe in Hollywood.

Kamran Pasha is a screenwriter, director, and showrunner. He is currently developing a series set in the Ottoman Empire for STARZ, and has sold a drama set in the world of Illuminati conspiracies to Warner Brothers Television.

Kamran recently worked as writer-producer on Showtime Network’s drama series set in the American military prison at Guantanamo Bay, directed by Oliver Stone. Previously, Kamran served as a writer and co-producer of Showtime’s Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated series “Sleeper Cell,” about a Muslim FBI agent who infiltrates a terrorist group. 

Kamran has also served as a writer and producer on television shows such as

“Reign,” “Nikita” and “Roswell, New Mexico” on the CW, and “Kings” and “Bionic

Woman” on NBC. He also served as head writer for the “Tron: Uprising” animated series on Disney XD. Kamran’s movie career launched when he sold his first feature script to Warner Brothers Pictures, an historical epic on the love story behind the building of the Taj Mahal. He is currently developing a movie on the famed Sufi poet Rumi, as well as a feature film about Ibn Battuta, which follows the adventures of an Arab traveler who journeyed from Morocco to China in the 14th century.

Kamran is a published novelist as well. In 2009, Simon & Schuster published “Mother of the Believers,” a novel showing the rise of Islam from the eyes of Prophet Muhammad’s wife Aisha. His second novel, “Shadow of the Swords,” follows the conflict between Richard the Lionheart and the Muslim leader Saladin for control of Jerusalem during the Crusades.

Kamran holds a BA and an MBA from Dartmouth College, a JD from Cornell Law

School, and is an alumnus of the MFA Producers Program at UCLA Film School.

Theomagica is the blueprint for a lot of the waffle you hear in modern occult circles, but with actual depth and taken in context.

Heyden discusses the magician as a mediator between celestial forces and the material world. It’s the exact microcosm–macrocosm spiel that the Golden Dawn borrowed wholesale and incorporated into their rituals. Like Heyden, Crowley waltzed in later, sprinkled on some poetry, and declared himself the prophet. But the cosmology he borrowed comes from the likes of Heyden.

His book is stuffed with Platonic philosophy, biblical mysticism, and the power of the stars, and unlike some later magicians, he didn’t need a thesaurus to make it look impressive.

Even Frederick Hockley, who was the Golden Dawn’s beta version, drew on Heyden when shaping his scrying techniques. And despite his endless bluster about smashing old systems, even Crowley ends up echoing Heyden’s ideas. Mathers and Westcott leaned on Heyden’s worldview, which included magical images and a hierarchy of spirits, while pretending it all came straight from the Secret Chiefs.

Ike Baker is an author, scholar, content creator, practitioner, and senior initiate of several lineages within the Western Esoteric Traditions, with two decades of study, training, and practice. Sam Cannon is the Bruce and Steve Simon Professor of Language and Literature and Assistant Professor of Spanish at Louisiana State University Shreveport since 2017. He was born, raised, and home-school in Louisiana. After spending two years living in Mexico, Sam returned to the U.S. and began studying Latin American and Iberian literatures, languages, and cultures. He received his M.A. in Hispanic American Literature from the University of Arkansas, and he earned his PhD in Latin American and Iberian Literatures and Cultures from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Cannon’s field of expertise is 20 th & 21 st century Latin American literatures.

His research explores representations of political and economic violence in Latin American comics and graphic novels. In particular, he writes on the political history of Chile as presented by contemporary comic artists. Recently, Sam has published works about feminist protest movements and LGBTQ+ representation in Chilean comics. He currently serves as the translator and editor for the Latin American graphic novel series with Amatl Comix for San Diego State University Press.

At the age of seventeen Sam was initiated into Mormon (LDS) esoteric temple practices – called “The Endowment”. This includes ordination into the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods. In order to better understand the teachings of the Endowment, Sam requested initiation into the degrees of Freemasonry. He is currently a member of Cervantes Lodge in New Orleans (a Scottish Rite Craft lodge that works in Spanish with a unique ritual heritage) and he has served as Master of Hap Arnold Lodge and Caddo Lodge in Shreveport, Louisiana, and is the Degree Master for the 30º (Knight Kadosh) of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Shreveport. Sam is a 32º Knight Commander Court of Honor (KCCH) within the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction. While no longer a practicing Mormon, those teachings brought him into the Western Mystery Tradition, and he has been a solo student and practitioner of ceremonial magick and Hermetic Qabalah. Sam is currently exploring ways to adapt and blend Mormon ritual with concepts from Qabalah, Hermeticism, and interior Temple/Adytum practices to bring them into dialogue with the larger Western Mystery Tradition, from which they sprang.

Mastering The Great Table Vol 2 of Mastering the Enochian Magick System

Scott Stenwick is the author of the Mastering Enochian Magick series from Pendraig Publishing and has practiced John Dee and Edward Kelley's Enochian magical system for almost thirty years. He has presented at Paganicon, the national convention of Ordo Templi Orientis, and at Leaping Laughter Ordo Templi Orientis here in Minneapolis. He is also a longtime magick blogger, updating and maintaining the Augoeides blog since 2006, and a contributor

to various magical anthologies.

He is a Thelemite and was initiated into Ordo Templi Orientis in 1995. He currently serves as Master of Leaping Laughter Lodge in Minneapolis, as an ordained EGC Priest and Deacon, and as a chartered Ordo Templi Orientis initiator. In addition to his Enochian series, he has contributed to several magical anthologies. He also is one of three contributors to an online Enochian master class and runs a regular general ritual magick class at the lodge that is a public event open to practitioners and seekers of all skill levels.
