Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 6 Details

The Keepers set a blockade around Ben and Jennifer’s building, where their bodies have been severely mutated as a result of them interacting with each other. Viktor tries purging the durango now inside Ben, but fails and Ben and Jennifer merge to become the Cleanse. 

Abigail, hidden inside the body of Gene Thibedeau, kills his wife Jean when she begins to get suspicious. With both Thibedeau’s dead, Abigail tells Reginald that she brought about the Cleanse because she shouldn’t have been brought back to life, and the timeline should be reset again. 

Meanwhile the Umbrella Academy team up to try but fail to stop the Bennifer creature as the combined powers of Durango and Marigold inside them is overwhelming. 

Five, dejected at failing to stop the Cleanse, rides the timeline subway alone, until he meets Fives from other timelines. They tell him that there is only supposed to be one timeline, and the splitting and merging of timelines, as well as the constant threat of apocalypses, is due to the existence of the marigold and their families. 

When Reginald first released the marigold in 1989, a side effect of women getting pregnant was also the creation of multiple timelines. Five goes back to his siblings, and tells them they need to let the Cleanse absorb them and their marigold. In doing so, they will cease to exist, but will also create only one singular timeline without any apocalypses. Lila saves her family and Allison’s daughter Claire, then joins the siblings as they all get absorbed, destroying all but one timeline.

In the one timeline, with the Marigold and Durango destroyed, friends and foes of the past live out their normal lives on a typical day where nothing exceptional happens. Finally the Umbrella Academy saved the day.

Five and Lila get lost for over six years while traveling through the timeline subway system. Viktor and Reginald contact Ben and try to warn him about interacting with Jennifer, but he ignores their warnings. However, Jennifer starts feeling sick. Sy informs the Keepers about Ben’s role with Jennifer, and recommends keeping Ben’s siblings away from him. 

The Keepers set a trap that kills Reginald’s men and injures Viktor. At the CIA headquarters, Luther realizes Five’s boss, Ribbons, is a member of the Keepers, leading to Luther and Diego fighting their way out of the CIA. Gene distrusts Sy, and tells him to leave. Sy, revealed to be Abigail in disguise, kills Gene and disguises herself as him, just as the Keepers are informed of Ben and Jennifer’s current whereabouts. 

Five and Lila decide to take a break from traveling and stay in one of the timelines, and fall in love with each other. While scavenging, Five finds notes written by himself, which will lead them back to their home timeline, but hides them from Lila for a few months. Five is hesitant to return, but Lila wants to go back immediately. Meanwhile, Allison and Claire find and rescue Klaus from the grave.

In Reginald’s memory recovering machine the siblings learn that on October 14, 2006, in the original timeline, the Umbrella Academy (minus Five and Vanya) were sent to destroy a container in Moldova. Despite Reggie warning the team against any interaction with the container, Ben hears a tapping inside. He sees Jennifer inside and lets her out. But Reginald arrives and kills both Ben and Jennifer in front of the others. 

After regaining their memories of the incident, Reginald’s wife Abigail reveals that she was responsible for Ben and Jennifers deaths. Years ago, she created a new element, marigold. However, a second element was unknowingly created, durango, which is currently inside Jennifer. If the two interact, it would cause “The Cleanse”, which would destroy the world. 

To prevent The Cleanse, Reginald wants to kill Ben, but Viktor instead wants to remove Ben’s marigold. 

Five and Lila try to find the original timeline to prevent the original Ben’s death, but get lost in the timeline traveling subway system. 

Meanwhile, Klaus is forced to become a medium and prostitute for Quinn in order to pay off his debts. He manages to escape Quinn’s building and finds a bag of money in the grave of one of his clients. When she comes to retrieve it, Quinn and his Biker Gang also come to claim the money. But a standoff between the two groups leaves everyone but Quinn and Klaus dead. He steals the money and buries the immortal Klaus in a sealed coffin. 

Elsewhere, Ben and Jennifer have potentially apocalyptic sex in a motel, releasing an energy surge that damages their surroundings and kills the motel’s clerk.

Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 3 Details

In October 2006, fishermen caught a giant squid off the coast of the US with a young girl inside. When asked what happened, the young girl responded with "The Cleanse". 

Shortly after, Reginald built a town in Maine for the young girl, Jennifer, to live a normal life, yet stay protected. 

In the present day, Ben’s body has changed after colliding with the now grown Jennifer during her kidnapping by Doctors Jean and Gene Thibodeau. 

Klaus gets his drug dealer, Quinn to kill him but after he discovers Klaus’ immortality he kidnaps him with a plan for Klaus to pay back his debts. 

Five, Diego and Lila go to the Keepers' HQ. Five reveals to Lila that his powers now allow him to navigate between timelines via subway station, to the same place but in a different timeline. He has no control over where they travel to and when they find themselves in Five’s original apocalypse he quickly returns them to Diego. Diego finds files from the original timeline, which list Ben's cause of death as "The Jennifer Incident", a mission from the Umbrella Academy’s past that none of the family can quite remember.

Allison, Viktor, and Luther go to Hargreeves' manor, where they meet Abigail and Reginald. When Diego, Five and Lila arrive they realise that the original Reginald Hargreeves erased their memories of how Ben died, and reuniting they attempt to restore their memory. 

Meanwhile, Jean and Gene show Jennifer mementos of the original timeline, as well as the giant squid. They reveal she is the key to destroying all timelines and restoring the original one. 

On his own solo quest, Ben is told by Sy Grossman to use the wounds he got from Jennifer and listen to his body to find her. He arrives at Jean and Gene’s hideout and unleashes his inner horror to free Jennifer, unaware the Thibodeau's intentionally let them escape to carry out their plan.

With a version of their powers restored following Ben’s intervention, the unhappy Hargreaves take a road trip to New Grumpton Maine to find Sy Grossman’s missing daughter. This Christmas celebrating town has a nasty underbelly. 

From antiques dealers to Santa’s elves, everyone is gunning for the family. They narrowly escape after finding Jennifer, but she has no idea who Sy Grossman is. Before they leave, an imposter from town shoots Klaus. As he’s at death’s door the family force him to take Marigold against his wishes. Just as he recovers, cult leaders Jean and Gene crash into the Hargreeves van. As it tumbles through the air Jennifer and Ben’s hands clash with explosive power. 

While the family are unconscious, the Thibodeau’s take Jennifer with them and learn that Lila had infiltrated their group.

Six years after defeating the last apocalypse, the now depowered Hargreeve family have separated from each other. Luther is working as a lunch time stripper and is having trouble reuniting the rest of his siblings for a family get together.

While Five is working undercover for the CIA investigating a cult called The Keepers, its leaders Jean and Gene Thibedeau are gathering evidence of other timelines that they believe were wiped out. Along with the rest of their group, they await “The Cleanse” which they believe will resolve these anomalies. 

Also on the trail of The Keepers is Lila. With her suburban life with Diego not panning out like she planned she covers her investigation into the cult but Diego believes she’s cheating on him.

On his way to the family gathering Victor is kidnapped by a stranger, who enlists the former Umbrella Academy to find his daughter Jennifer who he believes was kidnapped by The Keepers.

Meanwhile as Ben is released from prison after 4 years Luther tries to reunite him with the Hargreeves. But, still angry at the loss of his real family, Ben surreptitiously feeds the siblings a shot of the alien syrup “marigold” hoping to restore his and their powers.

Reginald, Five, Allison, Viktor, Diego, Lila, Sloane, and Ben arrive at the Hotel Oblivion, where Five tells Viktor what he remembered about Allison. Reginald summons Guardians to attack the group while they search for a seven-fold symbol. Five's arm is severed, but the Guardians are defeated. In the afterlife, Luther convinces Klaus to return to the living world, where he exposes Reginald's treachery. Allison tells Viktor that she made a deal with Reginald but that it had nothing to do with their brothers' deaths. Five spots a seven-star symbol on the lobby floor. All except Allison step on the stars, which activates the reset button but drains their powers. Realizing the process is killing them, Allison kills Reginald and hits the reset button. In the rebuilt universe, Allison is reunited with Claire and Ray, the Hotel Obsidian is gone, Luther is alive and no longer an ape-man, Five and Diego's lost limbs are restored, Sloane is missing, and everyone has lost their powers. As the siblings separate, a restored Reginald observes the city, now under his control, alongside his wife Abigail, who is alive again. In a mid-credits scene, Ben rides a Seoul subway, similar to the one on which he was born.

A hungover Five desperately tries to recall who was making a deal with Reginald the previous night. Reginald calls a meeting and explains that he built the Hotel Obsidian around a portal to the universe's "reset button", which requires seven people to pass through the secret tunnel and ring seven bells protected by a Guardian. Allison, Lila, Klaus, and Ben agree to the plan, but Diego, Viktor, Luther, Sloane, and Five outvote them and choose to stay. Allison apologizes to Luther and Viktor, but Luther believes she is manipulating him. Reginald murders Luther and blames it on the Guardian in order to motivate the group. Five remembers that Allison was the one with whom Reginald made a deal. The group flees through the tunnel as the Kugelblitz consumes the Hotel. Klaus tries to follow but Reginald pushes him back, thanking him for his help but telling him he is too much of a liability. To ensure he goes to the afterlife, Klaus throws himself onto the horn of the white buffalo and dies.

In 1918, Reginald Hargreaves starts construction of the Hotel Obsidian. At its grand opening he attends the event with several mercenaries, who he sends to their death down the secret tunnel in the White Buffalo Suite as they are all slaughtered in Oblivion. In the present, with the universe collapsing around them, the remaining members of the Umbrella and Sparrow Academies take shelter at the Hotel Obsidian for a day of romance, awkwardness and debauchery. As Luther and Sloane announce their wedding, a reinvigorated Klaus and Reginald arrive at the hotel, but none of the other siblings, except for Klaus who has made a new connection with Reggie, are interested in the man they used to call father. Luther asks Viktor to be his best man, and leaves a bitter Ben out of his bachelor party, who is called out for his sullen attitude by Sloane as she tells him to lose control and stop being the leader.

Elsewhere and undeterred by the views of his brothers and sisters, Klaus coaches Reginald to be more fatherly at the wedding reception, where to the shock of everyone, including Klaus, Reggie delivers a moving speech. As the wedding reception progresses, Viktor, at the request of Luther, tries to reconcile with Allison, who refuses to forgive him. Klaus and a drunken Ben begin to bond. As the evening and universe draws to a close, the families, in the absence of Allison, sit drunkenly in the courtyard as the Kugelblitz consumes the city around them.

But ever the optimist, Luther remarks that he finally has the family he has always dreamed of.As the party goers begin to disperse back to their rooms after the wedding, Five drunkenly overhears Reginald making a deal with an unidentified person in the White Buffalo Suite.

Umbrella Academy Season 3 Episode 7 Podcast "Auf Wiedersehen" Details

In 1953 Lila digs up her Mother, The Handler’s, secrets and takes her frustration out on the other members of the Commision. To get her out of the way, commission leaders Herb and Dot send Lila to West Berlin in 1989 where she retrieves a hidden briefcase planted by the Handler. She meets rocker musician Trudy and her son Stanley, before she invites Stanley along on a fun trip to terrorise an old friend. In the present, Reginald wants to be a better father by helping Klaus hone his powers over death, by repeatedly killing Klaus in road accidents in order to train him to reanimate more quickly and less like a wet noodle.

As Klaus gets his reanimation down to under a minute, Reggie takes Klaus to a graveyard to confront his fears over The Dead, where he successfully exorcises the ghosts of his past. Back at the Sparrow Academy, both families join forces to fight the ever expanding Klugelblitz. But all is not peace and harmony as Allison is remorseless about murdering Harlan and blames Viktor for her losses, which causes sulks and tensions amongst the Umbrella siblings.

But Viktor, along with Lila, Sloane, and Christopher are essential in constraining the Kugelblitz. They combine their powers and manage to trap the Kugelblitz inside Christopher. But robot mother Grace is killed by Five when she attacks them with a flamethrower to protect her God. They learn their plan was successful as, the Kugelblitz’s next energy pulse is contained inside Christopher as it fizzles out with a whimpering fart. At the Academy, the group celebrates saving the world and on top of the Academy Luther proposes to Sloane, who accepts.

Meanwhile Lila reveals to Diego that she is pregnant with their child, explaining that her trick with Stan was to test Diego's parenting abilities; while Five assures a grieving Viktor that saving Harlan would not have fixed their past failures. As Fei toasts Christopher’s role, the clink of glass on Christopher causes him to suddenly explode releasing the Kugelblitz which kills Fei and consumes the Academy. Before it claims another victim, Five saves Ben from the Kugelblast as the group escapes.

Umbrella Academy Season 3 Episode 6 Podcast "Marigold" Details

In 2014, Pogo leaves the employment of Reginald Hargreaves after a disagreement over the Sparrows' training. As he departs from the Sparrow Academy he hands Marcus the pills to sedate Reginald and protect the team. In the present, after an exhausting night, Lila and Diego have misplaced Stanley. A trail of Slim Jims takes them both through a secret tunnel in the White Buffalo Suite which leads to an abandoned alternate version of the Hotel Obsidian, called Hotel Oblivion.

At the Sparrow Academy, Ben asks Luther to join the Sparrows, and Klaus tries to bond with his father, asking why Reggie in the original timeline killed him repeatedly. To figure it out, Reginald, who is fascinated, fascinated with Klaus, decides to experiment by electrocuting Klaus to death. After tracking Pogo to his caravan home, he tells Five that the symbols in the tattoo are connected to Reginald’s obsession with a dangerous idea called Project Oblivion.

Meanwhile back at Hotel Oblivion, Lila admits to Diego that Stan is not their son, but is the son of her friend Trudy, and she is just babysitting for a week, but despite the shock of her bombshell, they still can’t find Stanley. To try and get some help Diego rings the reception bell only to unleash a monster that attacks Lila and Diego in the alternate hotel, cutting off two of Diego's fingers. They escape back through the tunnel and manage to lock the monster out of Hotel Obsidian, just as Stanley returns back to the White Buffalo suite, and is then unceremoniously consumed by the Kugelblitz in front of Lila and Diego.

At the deserted former drive through cinema, Harlan and Viktor manage to succeed in transferring Harlan's powers back to Viktor. But while Viktor is exhausted and resting, Harlan lets slip to Allison that he killed the Umbrellas' mothers, thinking that she already knew. With this new information Allison delivers him to the Sparrows.

Umbrella Academy Season 3 Episode 5 Podcast "Kindest Cuts" Details

Following his harpooning, Klaus awakens in the afterlife, where the Person on the Bike reveals that he has died over 50 times, but always returns to life because of his power. He reconnects with his dead mother, who tells him not to mourn her and he should try to seek a sense of purpose rather than being a professional chaos generator.

Five and Lila return to the Hotel Obsidian, but their only remaining briefcase is destroyed in the process. An urgent family meeting is called where Five reveals that the grandfather paradox has created a Kugelblitz, and that time is running out as its powerful effects are growing and will soon collapse all of existence. With no time to hold a grudge, Lila and Diego restart their relationship, when, missing from the family meeting, Diego wonders where his son Stanley has got to.

Searching for Stanley, Diego bumps into him in the hotel corridor acting suspicious and laden with bleach. Stanley tells him everything about his accidental killing of Klaus and comforts and reassures him after his ordeal. Wrapped up in a rug, Diego and Stanley go about conspicuously moving his body through the hotel, when Klaus suddenly returns to life. As events press in on Alisson and desperate to escape her trauma and pain, she tries to reconnect with Luther, but when he pulls back from her she starts to use her powers to force herself on Luther.

Horrified, Luther flees to the Sparrow Academy to find Sloane, while the rest of the family agrees to hand Harlan over to the Sparrows so they can all focus on the Kugelblitz. Viktor feels guilty about the trauma his powers have caused Harlan and while trying to sneak him out of the Hotel, enlists Allison to help him, as he goes to the rest of the siblings that Harlan has disappeared.

With just Klaus and Five left at the bar, Klaus recognizes Five's future tattoo as belonging to a biker gang called the Mothers of Agony who used to sell him drugs. Armed with this information and being his only lead, Five goes to the gang's club. In a back room off the bar he finds an old friend, Pogo.

As Harlan could not control the powers he gained from Viktor in 1963, he and his mother lived a difficult life, needing to move constantly. But when Sissy died, he had a particularly violent episode. In the present, after his energy burst Harlan reconnects with Viktor, while Allison uses her powers on Sloane, the remaining Sparrow at Hotel Obsidian, to try to force her to reveal the whereabouts of the briefcase but Sloane does not know where it is.

Frustrated, she and Diego go into a bar with those types of people outside, hoping to get into a fight. Meanwhile, Luther and Viktor give Sloane back to the Sparrows as a peace offering, but at the last minute Ben demands that they hand over Harlan as well.In the ruins of the Commission, Five and Lila find its Founder, an elderly future version of Five with a missing arm and a cryptic tattoo. Before he dies he warns Five not to save the world.

Back in the Hotel Obsidian, on clean up duty, Klaus and Stan find a luxury suite called the White Buffalo and not on the Hotel inventory. As they check out the suite Stan accidentally fires a spear gun which kills Klaus. Elsewhere in the Hotel, Harlan finds the files on the Umbrella Academy's dead mothers and reveals to Viktor that when his mother died, his outburst of power inadvertently killed their mothers and caused the grandfather paradox.

Number Five begins to worry about his retirement as he explains the grandfather paradox to his family, as a lovesick Luther rejoins the Umbrella siblings. On the trail of the paradox Five reluctantly teams up with Lila to solve the time paradox, realizing neither of their briefcases work. Meanwhile, Allison and Viktor negotiate with the Sparrows, where Allison falsely claims they have Marcus and the Sparrows falsely claim they have the briefcase, but Allison's increasingly reckless behavior begins to worry Viktor.

Klaus confronts Reginald about their mothers, whom Reginald confirms he did not kill, and they end up bonding with a bowl of ice cream. But Klaus also learns that the Sparrows keep Reginald medicated to keep him docile, and he teaches Reginald his former rehab therapy tricks on how to hide the pills without swallowing.

The Sparrows discover the Kugelblitz in the basement, but head to the Hotel Obsidian to confront the Umbrella academy. As the fight ensues, the Umbrella siblings are almost defeated when an unexpected intervention from Lester Pocket, unleashing a devastating burst of energy, killing Alphonso and Jayme as Luther leaps and saves Sloane from the burst.

In the aftermath of the devastating attack from Lester, Viktor recognizes him as Harlan Cooper, the son of his former partner Sissy.

With Marcus their Number One missing, the Sparrows take a hostage in retaliation, as Luther is kidnapped by the Sparrow siblings and held captive. While captive, Luther learns more about the Sparrows and bonds with their Number Five, Sloane.

After being released by the Sparrows, along with a complimentary tote bag, Luther drifts back up to Sloane, where he spends the night. Lila attempts to head to Berlin and leave the city, but discovers that her Commission briefcase no longer works. Trying to source a new briefcase, Lila mimics Fei's powers on the roof of the Sparrow Academy to steal the Umbrella's briefcase.

Meanwhile, Diego and Stan bond after they fight with the Sparrow Number Four, Alphonso, and Number Six, Jayme. After learning of Sissy's death in 1989, Vanya takes lessons from her previous relationship to escape her box, as she reveals to his siblings that he, Viktor, is transgender. Viktor’s siblings accept him with open arms.

Allison travels home and makes a painful discovery, finding that Claire, her daughter, does not exist in this new timeline, sending her spiraling with grief and rage. As Viktor pulls Alisson out of her despair, both head to the handoff where Marcus was meant to give them the briefcase, but he doesn’t show. Unbeknownst to them, they are stalked by Lester.

Klaus takes Five on an eye-opening road trip, to find Klaus' birth mother at an Amish community, but discovers his mother, along with all the mothers of the Umbrella siblings, died before they were ever born in this timeline, creating a grandfather paradox.

All the while, further shockwaves from the growing Kugelblitz cause more waves of objects, humans, and animals to disappear.

Umbrella Academy Season 3 Episode 1 Podcast "Meet The Family" Details

After averting doomsday in Dallas, the Umbrella siblings return to a very different academy, now ruled by the powerful and hostile Sparrows, masters of both dance and combat, in an altered timeline.

It is revealed that after their encounter in Dallas in 1963, Sir Reginald chose not to adopt Luther, Diego, Alisson, Vanya, Klaus and Five but seven other children instead, including Ben, Marcus, Fei, Alphonso, Sloane, Jayme and Christopher (the cube), and established "The Sparrow Academy".

When both families meet for the first time at the Academy, an imaginary dance off in Diego’s mind, induced by venom from Jayme (No 6) turns into a fight, and a ball of energy forms in the basement of the Sparrow Academy. Upstairs in the ensuing fight the Umbrella siblings are overpowered until Vanya unleashes a burst of energy to defeat the Sparrows.

The Umbrella siblings flee to the Hotel Obsidian and plan their next move, but inadvertently leave the time travel briefcase at the Academy. Vanya goes to make a deal with the Sparrow Number One, Marcus, who agrees to hand back the briefcase in exchange for the Umbrella Academy siblings leaving with no more trouble. This meeting is observed by Ben and the Sparrow Number Three, Fei. Diego discovers he and Lila have a young son, Stanley, and must make up for his 12-years of absence as Lila leaves Stan with him and heads to Berlin.

Elsewhere, an older man named Lester Pocket packs his suitcase and sets out for an unknown destination. When Marcus goes to get the briefcase, he discovers the ball of energy or Kugelblitz, a time anomaly caused by the crossing timelines, and is disintegrated. After witnessing this act of power, Grace, who now works as the Sparrows' maid, begins worshiping the Kugelblitz as her god.

Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 1 “Right Back Where We Started” Synopsis

On April 1st 2019, the Earth was destroyed in a cataclysmic event. Billions of people were wiped out in a matter of minutes. Ironically the six survivors of the apocalypse were the very siblings who brought it on. After time travelling to avoid the apocalypse and dropping his brothers and sisters into an alley in Texas - all at different times - Five scrambles to track them all down before they team up to cause a brand new apocalypse.
