Mortal Kombat 2 is one of the biggest “Up In The Air” deals in the world of cinema right now. People are excited, nervous, pessimistic, against the entire thing, and rooting for its success, depending where you look. But what is going on with it exactly, and what are people (including me) saying about it?

Also Mr. Eddy Boonster dropped a hell of a mind bomb with a recent Tweet, as he is want to do, asking people if they would be interested in NetherRealm Studios making a Marvel vs. DC game. Obviously, people were open to the idea. What could this mean?! Would you be excited for that?

The MK Series has embraced guest characters in their games with open arms for the last 20 years. From Freddy Kruger, to RoboCop, to Jack Thompson, to Jason Voorhees, the Mortal Kombat franchise has had a ton of guests in their games.

How did they come about? How were they integrated into the series? Which ones fit best into the setting? Those questions and more will be addressed in this episode of Enter the Netherrealm.

Also, who do I think would make for a good guest character? Who would fit in personality-wise, setting-wise, and just their overall potential moveset. Spoiler, I absolutely want Doom Guy in a Mortal Kombat game.

Cole Young in MK: The Movie 2 & 3D Era Mortal Kombat TIER LIST | EtN 007

Everyone knows that the 3D Era of Mortal Kombat did not have the best lineup of characters. However, were all of them really that bad? The answer is No. In fact the 3D Era had some pretty good kombatants! So I took a list of the kombatants that debuted in 4, Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon, and ranked them from absolute best to worst.

Also, I made a couple of exceptions in the classification of “3D Era”. For example, Quan Chi debuted in the MK: Defenders of the Realm cartoon, then appeared in Sub Zero: Mythologies, but I included him as his playable debut was 4. Also Chameleon was technically in MK: Trilogy, but they’re completely different and new in Armageddon, so they’re in.

And on today’s Kombat Alert: We talk about Cole Young’s potential role in MK: The Movie 2. Should his Hero Story be trashed and cut, or should they stuck to their guns and continue to make Mr. Young the main character of the Mortal Kombat Cinematic Universe? Learn my opinion!

Who the Hell are You? | EtN 006

Scorpion. Johnny Cage. Mileena. Sub Zero. Some of the amazing, well-known & beloved characters from the realms of Mortal Kombat. However, what about some of the more obscure, but still notable, characters?

With how huge the world of Mortal Kombat is, there have been tons of smaller characters that never quite got their time in the sun, canceled characters that got into production but didn’t quite make it over the finish line, and characters that never existed in the first place, but people REALLY wanted them to.

Injustice 3: What It Could Be | EtN 005

On July 2nd, 2021, Netherrealm Studios announced that they were ending support of MK11 in favor of focusing on “their next project”. At the time, pretty much everyone assumed “Okay it’s Injustice 3 time, we’ll hear an announcement or tease in 6 months or so.

Here we are, almost one full year later, and we still have no idea what NRS is working on. Rumors have flown around, it started as Injustice 3, then some said it was a Marvel game, claims of it being MK vs. DCU 2 came out, but the current most popular assumption is that their next project is Mortal Kombat 12.

HOWEVER, nothing has been confirmed! The next installment of the Injustice series could still be on the horizon, and that’s where I come in. I have made an outline containing exactly what I would do if I was the creative director and primary decision maker of the Injustice 3 project. Let’s see what you think about my ideas.

So today I will be sitting down and talking about the various races and species of Mortal Kombat. Throughout the realms, there are tons of interesting designs, backstories, and cultures for people beyond just the surface of Earthrealm.

So the question that I am posing today is this… of all the monstrous races in the realms of Mortal Kombat, who would come out on top in an all-out WAR?

Mortal Kombat 12: Predictions, Hopes & Fears | EtN 003
