In this Episode we sit down with Mario Ruffin. Mario was Born and raised in Birmingham Alabama as the youngest of 12 children. He is a father of two children a boy who is 10 and a girl age 9. He's a 20 year retired military vet of the U.S. Air Force and Founder and owner of MMET Solutions LLC. We discuss his upbringing in Birmingham, AL as the youngest of 12 and what that experience was like. Mario talks about his time in the military including several tours in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. He tells crazy stories of interactions with the infamous Camel Spiders.

We also discuss his love for music and we talks about his company MMET Solutions and his passion for helping people. We talk about most of our friends who are all married and getting married meanwhile we are still looking for that special someone in an entirely different generation than the ones we both grew up in and what that’s like!

We also talk about a life changing study abroad experience Jessica had in college when her and several peers and teachers from her journalism class did a “study abroad” trip to Greece to interview refugees from Syria & Iraq who were fleeing the terror of ISIS in their countries. Jessica talks about the interviews they had to do with all these men, women & children who has experienced horrendous things but still managed to survive and be welcoming and generous and open to Jessica and her classmates.

We also get into the topic on how to discover your true purpose and follow your Bliss! We talk about ways that you can find your purpose if you are having a hard time doing so. This was a fun and deep episode! We know you will enjoy this one, please enjoy the show!

He's a an NSC Certified personal trainer and Health & Fitness enthusiast, he's a family man and father of 3, he's an entrepreneur and gym and fitness center owner and a professional MMA fighter fighting out of the world famous training center AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) in San Jose, CA.

In Part 2...We talk about him quitting nicotine products and taking his fitness and MMA career more seriously.

Ivan talks about him being a family man being in a committed relationship for 10 years plus and having 3 children ages 5, 3, and 1. He talks about his first child being the catalyst for him taking his MMA career more serious.

We talk about Ivan being part of AKA and his MMA journey. He talks about trying out for AKA after being injured in college and being matched up with future UFC Star Luke Rockhold and got submitted and he ended up quitting his pursuit for MMA at that time. He went on to pursue his career in Arena football. After that didn’t workout his friend Joe Adamo talked him into returning to AKA and he destroyed his friends so he decided to give it another shot.

His first sparring session was with future champion DC Daniel Cormier. Not being afraid to fight anyone he went toe to toe with DC but ended up getting gassed out. This gave him the confidence if he worked on becoming better at MMA he could do well. This was a great episode, enjoy the show!

Episode 47 - Part 1: Ivan Batinich AKA Gym Pro MMA Fighter, Entrepreneur, Health & Fitness enthusiast, family man and father of 3!

In Part 1 we talk about the San Jose Wolves which was the professional Indoor football team where Isaac and Ivan first got to know each other. Ivan made the team from a huge open tryout and Isaac was working in football operations for the team. We talk about his upbringing in the South Bay Area. Ivan talks about his unique family dynamic where he was the youngest on one side of his family and the second oldest on the other side. Ivan talks about always being a great athlete. He was a standout football player in High at Los Gatos High. Ivan was Team captain, All CCS, league outstanding defensive player, 2nd in CCS in wrestling, & voted most athletic in high school. As he puts it he had a very “charmed” high school experience.

We talk about him taking a liking to fighting in middle school. After he watched Javier Mendez coach of the world famous AKA team fight when Ivan was a youth. He also was exposed to kick boxing and used to rent old UFC tapes from blockbuster video. Ivan talks about how his toughness was developed when he played pop Warner football since he was heavier he had to play with the older kids and this caused him to take a beating his first year playing football. This built up a Toughness and mean streak in him from getting pounded by older kids.

Ivan talks about him understanding himself and how he feels he’s more sensitive then he is mean. And when his feelings get hurt he channels that hurt into rage and wants to then bully people and make them pay. Ivan talks about consistently missing his goals throughout his life because of quitting and numerous injuries. However he used this to motivate him to constantly keep going and develop the motto “never quit.”

We talk about his career as a personal trainer and owning a gym. He became a fitness enthusiast in high school after pulling his hamstring and switched his focus from football to becoming a NSC certified personal trainer. He got his first job at 20 years old as a personal trainer. In 2014 he opened up the IB Strong training facility. At his new venture he met another martial artist who used to share fighting and training stories which got him back in the martial arts game. He had even sparred with Paul Buentello and got such good feedback and he was advised that he should pursue an MMA career more seriously. So Ivan decided to get super fit and went to AKA the Mecca for MMA and decided to become a pro MMA fighter. This was a great episode, enjoy the show!

Haruko is an artist, writer, and the founder of Lovetheway, a creator of inspirational and motivational content in art form. Lovetheway offers calligraphic, Asian-inspired abstract art created to inspire and encourage everyone to embrace their unique life journey. These inspirations for Haruko's art included the beauty of nature, the mystery of the universe, and words of wisdom that transcends time and space.

Originally from Japan, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Bioethics at Waseda University in Tokyo, and a Master’s degree in Political Science from California State University. She is a self-taught artist and uses mixed medium and acrylic color on canvas. She set in motion her career as a part-time artist in 2006 by selling customized pieces while working as a political journalist. What began as sporadic commission work transpired into a blooming art studio, bringing to life the concepts that served as her inspirations.

She had a showing at art galleries in Modesto and SF, and at major art shows including Sacrament Art Festival, the Saratoga Rotary Art show, and Art & Craft Festivals in Oakland. She has donated a number of pieces to various fundraiser events at schools and charity organizations and offered commission work for special occasions such as wedding, new born babies, and graduations as well.

She is currently based in Santa Cruz, that offers beautiful nature where she enjoys running, backpacking, and spiritual exploration.

In this episode we sit down with Jho. The now former co-host of the Bliss Seekers Podcast. She’s a Bay Area native, originally born in the Philippines. She’s a photographer who's passionate about alternative medicine, fitness, philanthropy, plant medicine and travel. Jho has decided step down as the co-host of the Bliss Seekers to follow her Bliss!

In Part 2 we talk about the Philippines and where Jho was born. Jho explains that the Philippines is 3 continents. We also talk about a home Jho is building out in the Philippines and a future Bliss Seekers trip to the Philippines.

We also talk about her other projects such as “The Art of Giving.” A project to help give to the homeless. This idea came out of a trip where they all took plant medicine together. They put together healthy plant based care packages and go hand them out to the homeless.

We also talk about Jho’s love for Mother Nature and how she is having a spiritual awakening in her life right now. We talk about how plant medicine has opened up blockages in her life and how it reconnected her to nature and find a new type of love. We also talk about how our ancestors were this way and very respectful and connected to nature and how we are so disconnected from nature today. We talk about after her first Ayahuasca experience she got so connected to nature she rolled around in the first so much she looked like she has a charcoal mask on but she didn’t care because it was healing and cleansing. Jho gives advice for anyone who wants to try plant medicine.

Jho shares how the experience of how being the co-host of the Bliss Seekers has helped her grow and the lessons she’s learned by being part of the team. She shares the biggest lesson she learned. Isaac shares how proud he is of Jho for how much she’s grown as a co-host and as a person from this experience. Isaac turns the tables and asks Jho her six Q’s

In Part 1 We talk about Jho’s new venture Artcation. Artcation was an idea that started 6 years ago and now their 1st trip will be to Guatemala later this year. She talks about how being the co-host of the Bliss Seekers and hearing the guests stories, inspired her to take action and get Artcation going. We talk about her 1st solo trip to Guatemala, where she learned about the non-profit “The Niños de Guatemala” a school which helps poor children. She wants to use her gifts of photography and media to give them what they need which is media.

We talk about Jho growing up in the Bay Area and how she got into photography. She talks about after her nephew was born she got a feeling of “never wanting to miss anything.” She started with an iPhone and from then on it started building and building to a professional camera and eventually a passion. She talks about photography being not just a photo talent but using social skills and putting herself out there. She believes photography is a mixture of psychology, social skills and talent. And it’s a lifetime journey for her. She also talks about her being single help her focus and nurture her passions.

Jho passionately talks about photography and how important it is to catch important moments in time. And how because of smart phones we just take tons of photos and photo albums have become extinct. She talks about how she wants to pull away from this she’s now becoming more intentional when taking photos. We also talk about how she wants to use her gifts and talents to help others and how growing up poor in the Philippines and being raised by a single mother in the US has never let her forget where she came from and she wants to always help the less fortunate.

We talk about her passion for holistic medicine and health and where that comes from. She shares about how she used to not feel good which led her to watch “Veducated” on Netflix and this started her on her plant 🌱 based path. Then she started getting exposed to natural medicine and healing such as herbs and acupuncture. As she puts it, food is medicine and she saw how people around her were on medication and they all suffered from the side effects. Isaac shares a story of how he was healed of back pain by and herbal healer their family knows.

We talk about extended travel. Jho talks about wanting to live in Italy for 6 months because she has an aunt who lives there. As she puts it, they say home is where your heart is, but my heart is the World. We talk about travel to the Philippines. Jho talks about how coconuts are free in the Philippines.

In this Episode we sit down with Shawn Timmons and Tiffany Hill CEO & COO of Skywalker consulting. Tiffany a former educator and Shawn a former manager for Tao Group entertainment are now successful entrepreneurs in the financial industry. They are also hosts of a wealth podcast on Instagram known as Green Table Talk. They are also proud parents to future "Boss Baby" Aiden Skywalker Timmons.

In Part 2 We discuss how they met when they were both working at Club Marquee in Las Vegas. They talk about how when they first worked together it wasn’t love at first sight because Tiffany was a “go getter” and worked a certain way and it didn’t fit Shawns style. But later when Tiffany showed up on her day off, dressed to the nines she made an impact on Shawn. As he puts it, he and everyone else was like “Damn!” Since Tiffany had been drinking she needed someone to help her get home.

Everyone at the club, women and men were trying to take her home but since Shawn was sincere, she only said Yes to him. Since Shawn was Woking she had to wait 2 hours for him to get off. Little did Tiffany realize Shawn had a motorcycle so they decided to take Tiffany’s car and go eat and sober up. They spent 7 hours together connecting and learning they had similar experiences. And Shawn realized Tiffany had beauty and brains and substance.

The more time they spent together they more they realized how much in common and how they could work together and they both had that “high school crush” feeling about each other. The even crazier part is they both were ending serious relationships at the exact time they met and both living with their exes at the time even though they were not romantically involved. They talk about how they moved forward slowly and maturely. And how they gave each other space and let their relationship happen naturally. They tell stories about hanging out at the park and having jam sessions together after they realized they both are musically talented.

Tiffany raves about how Talented Shawn is and how he has a whole album recorded and he’s just hesitant to release it. Isaac pushed Shawn to just release his music no matter what anyone thinks. Tiffany talks about how she always knew they would be in business together. We discuss their current family business Skywalker Comsulting. This is an awesome couple! Enjoy the show!

Episode 43 - Part 1: Skywalker Consulting a power couple who went from the Vegas Nightlife to building a financial family business

In Part 1 we talk about their upbringing. Tiffany hails from Brooklyn’s Canarsie projects, as she puts it “Brooklyn girls do it best.” Shawn is originally from the Caribbean by way of St. Vincent, the Grenadines and the Virgin Islands.

We talk about how Shawn grew up around the Hall Of Fame NBA player Tim Duncan who played basketball with his uncle and ate at his grandmother’s restaurant. Tiffany shares a story about visiting Shawn’s family in the Caribbean for the 1st time and how she struggled to understand the Caribbean accent. Shawn talks about when his family immigrated to the US, to Alaska of all places. He explains how he struggled greatly at first with culture shock, because of his thick Caribbean accent and about how it made him self conscious as a 12 year old to speak and even forced him to stop speaking for a while until he could get rid of his accent.

Tiffany talks about being in the “get out of the hood project” and always getting straight A’s and being an overachiever because of her mother’s strict high standards. She also shares a similar culture shock experience to Shawn’s, when she left the Canarsie projects to an all white boarding school. Just like Shawn it was a completely new and very different environment, where she had to learn to quickly adapt. They talk about how these similar experiences allowed then to connect on a deeper level when they met.

Shawn shares more culture shock experiences when he came to the U.S. such as “the sun being broken” because it stays up 22 hours a day and seeing snow for the first time. Also he remembers how different it was for him, being from a friendly welcoming culture to coming to a place where nobody talks to people they don’t know. Tiffany talks about being from New York where you don’t talk to anyone you don’t know and walking super fast because she was trained in New York.

Tiffany shares her experience of working extremely hard in school & earning a scholarship to go to an IVY League boarding High school in Massachusetts. And how this experience forced her to develop successful habits. She was on her own for the first time and had her own room for the 1st time in her life. After this private High School in cold and snowy Massachusetts Tiffany decided to head to Florida for college and nice weather. Shawn being a great athlete left Alaska to go to Arizona for college and warm weather.

Tiffany talks about finding her calling as an educator and which kept her in Florida for 9 years until she realized her teaching career wasn’t going to meet her needs financially. So, she followed the money and moved to Vegas to work in the Hospitality industry. Shawn talks about heading down the wrong path when he was young but having great friends around him who believed in him and his talents and motivated him to get into sports, pursue success using his talents and to get out of Alaska and go to a place he could thrive. So, he left Alaska for college in Arizona.

After college he had a short career in the pharmaceutical industry but was bored and felt like he was wasting his talents so he moved to Las Vegas with no family, no friends, no job and started over from ground zero. He began getting into entertainment and started dancing in Vegas, he was so talented as a dancer Shawn was offered a scholarship to Juliart, however he suffered an injury during an altercation at his security job and had to turn down the scholarship. This is when he found the hospitality industry. He climbed up the ladder in this industry and ended up in the same career path as Tiffany. Tiffany shares her story of how she got into the night club industry and how she doesn’t leave things to chance and was able to get in with persistency. Shawn and Tiffany tell stories about the Las Vegas party & night life. Working at the major hotels and clubs at their peak eras. And much more. This is a super talented power couple! Episode 42 - Part 2: The "Harris Hustle" from two opposite sides of the country found each other and found their passion!

In this Episode we sit down with Ike and Kaycee Harris aka "The Harris Hustle." They come from two opposite coasts Kaycee from the West Coast (Oakland, CA) Michael Ike Harris from the East Coast (Brooklyn, NY). Their shared adversities, upbringing and Tinder led them to find each other in California. Once finding each other they found their true passion in helping others become successful. They are now building an empire in the financial industry.

In Part 2 we talk about how Mike was able to bond with Kaycee’s parents and left a strong impression on them, while he was trying he to figure out where he was going to live. His mother was advising him to enter the shelter system which left him in a dilemma since he was trying to start over. In the end he decided to stay with Kaycee & her family and focus on getting his Real Estate license and getting his life together so he could move forward.

We talk about how he ended up getting a job at Uber in the meantime so he could provide for himself but this also helped him get to know the Bay Area and the housing market and also save up money to eventually propose to Kaycee. They talk a por learning they could work together after a successful and smooth transaction in Real Estate. Mike recommends a book called “The Better Man Project” which helped him be able to work well with Kaycee. Mike tells a crazy story of how they ended up paying for their wedding after another adversity struck and put their wedding funding on jeopardy. One month after their wedding they ended up finding their passion when they were given a business opportunity on the financial industry.

Because of this business opportunity they were able to help Kaycee’s parents when adversity struck again and her father was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer. Unfortunately, her father did not have life insurance and her mother lost hers once she retired. So, when the inevitable funeral expenses hit her family They were able to write a check and pay for the funeral thanks to their new business. Kaycee did not have to open a GofundMe for her fathers funeral and thanks to their business they didn’t have to.

Mike talks about the Zoom era and how it helped him in business, due to the fact that all his market was on the east coast and all over the country. He knew very little people in California and was starting a new business and had to think outside of the box. We talk about their agency “The Harris Hustle Group.” Ike and Kaycee speak passionately about helping people and how important the financial education they provide is for people. They talk about how they now have a business where they can give others the same opportunity and how they are building a family business Nationwide. And they share their vision for the future of their firm. Isaac asks them 6 powerful questions.

Episode 42 - Part 1: The "Harris Hustle" from two opposite sides of the country found each other and found their passion!

In Part 1 we discuss their upbringing on two different coasts. Born of immigrant parents from the Philippines, Kaycee grew up in the Seminary neighborhood of Oakland, CA. which was nicknamed “The Cemetery” due to all the violence. In an attempt to keep her off the streets, her parents used Kaycee’s Aunts address in Union City so that she could go to a better school. Later they moved her & her brother to Las Vegas, when she was in high school so she couldn’t get in trouble. We talk about the differences in Oakland now versus when Kaycee grew up there. Kaycee reflects on how much of a positive impact it made on her and her brother to not have attended the school in Oakland growing up.

Ike reflects on his upbringing in Brooklyn, N.Y. in the Bay View projects and how unlike Kaycee he never moved. As he puts it, "when you grow up in the projects you stay in one place." Michael says because of this he has had lifelong friendships and the “village raised the kids. If his Mom wasn’t around, there were other Mom’s watching because everyone knew everyone." He talks about his biological father being from the streets and fathering many children, but his stepfather raising him since he was 5 years old and how his mother tried everything she could to keep him off the streets as well. He talks about being born in the same room he lived in, and that he had to share a room with his sisters for a long time. He talks about an experience in Costa Rica where he was forced to jump off a huge cliff which gave him extreme confidence to make big moves in life. After this experience he made another huge jump and moved all the way to California.

We discuss their stories and the crazy coincidences they had as they both faced similar situations and trials and tribulations in life that have brought them together today. They both went through bad break ups in 2015 which caused them both to move and brought them closer together geographically. Ike talks about his move to CA and how he ended up in Ukiah of all places. Having ended up in the middle of nowhere him and his friend ended up commuting to Los Angeles regularly. Ike being in a new state and not knowing anyone decided to get on Tinder as a way to meet people. Kaycee was convinced by her cousin to join Tinder, due to the fact that a lot of her cousins who were in relationships had met on Tinder.

Through Tinder they tell the story of how they connected and became friends who messaged each other & talked daily from that point on. Both of them being in different parts of California forced them to get to know each other since they couldn’t meet up right away. Furthermore, since both of them were in the Real Estate Industry they ended up becoming solid associations. After finally meeting he recalls her giving him a huge bear hug that made him feel like this was something special. They also took a trip to Hawaii together when once again all the chips fell into place. Adversity struck once again when they were in Hawaii and Ike was forced to move out of the place he was living at in LA and ended up with no place to live. Thankfully he ended up staying with Kaycee and her family and bonding with her parents, until he could get on his feet.

In this episode we sit down with Terrance Phillips. He is a Managing Director at a major private bank in Hong Kong, acting as Asia head of private equity coverage. In his role he is responsible for developing relationships with general partners of private equity firms and their respective funds across Asia. He coordinates with his partners to deliver his firms platform to the private equity asset class. This includes subscription facilities, private banking, investment banking and funds distribution. Prior to joining his current firm he spent 12 years at Silicon Valley Bank in several Senior positions. Including Management Advisor, Global Treasury Advisor & Managing Director where he was responsible for the firms Global Private Equity Service Group. He managed relationships with more than 130 international Venture Capital Firms through Asia, Europe, Israel & South America. In addition to his current role he's an advisor to the board of directors of both the China Venture Capital Finance organization & the Hong Kong private equity finance association. He is also a board member of the Children's Medical Foundation & a Member to the Hong Kong Select USA Committee. He holds a Bachelors in International Business from Pepperdine University & an M.B.A from Pepperdine's Graziadio School of Business.

In Part 2 we talk about his life overseas in China with his family. He talks about learning different lessons from a different culture which opens up your mind. Terence shares his definition of success and how important it is to be "raising thoughtful caring children that you’re friends with when you're adults." He talks about the value of studies his children are learning in Asia.

He talks about the solid advice he’s gotten from mentors and how true business success is when people come to you because you’re the most knowledgeable in your space. Terrance talks about how he got involved with the Children’s Medical Foundation. This foundation provides neonatal care for premature babies at the rural levels. He shares his passion for their mission and their purpose.

We discuss the political climate of China and the U.S. and how social media has become a giant megaphone to magnify certain political beliefs and positions. We discuss his experience as an American in Hong Kong during this last presidential administration and geo-political tension.

Terrance talks about his regimen to stay grounded being part of a stressful and competitive career path. He talks about a retreat called Chizen which he learned about from some investors he works with who found themselves burnt out. Episode 41 - Part 1: Terrance Philips A midwestern Family man, ex-Marine, Managing Director at a major private bank & all around great human!

In Part 1 we discuss his upbringing in Cleveland, Ohio. He started working in his father’s manufacturing factory at a young age which taught him how to figure things out and hard work. Not being a very studious person he then went on to join the Marine Core. He talks about the two biggest lessons he got from the Marine Core, you’ll make order out of chaos and make a decision when nobody else will. The military led him overseas in Paris and Venezuela where his met his wife. He got a taste of the good life living overseas with the military so when he came back to the US, to his cinder block room & to regular life he realized he wanted more. So he decided to further his education and go back to school. He chose to get his degree at Pepperdine University. He now mentors young Marines nowadays about finishing school after the Marines. After graduating with his Masters Degree his military connections led him into banking.

He also tells a funny story about missing out on the technology advances of the 90’s and how he came back to a World full of AOL chat rooms and he had no idea what was going on. Terrance also talks about being blessed with good mentors all his life and how important it is to have mentors guiding you. We talk about his career and rise at Silicon Valley bank.

We discuss how China is experiencing a year after year improvement in the quality of life and how all people in China are benefiting. Terrance realizes he’s found similar values to his upbringing in the Midwest in China. Terrance also talks about his transition to China and how he took a beating at first because it was a whole new culture & business culture. However, his experience has led him to be able to handle all the challenges and succeed.

In this Episode we sit down with Erik Cabral, MD. Dr. Cabral grew up in San Jose and received his Bachelor’s in Human Biology with Honors Thesis from Stanford University. He was fortunate to study abroad at Brasenose College, Oxford University and Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico in Cuernavaca and is fluent in Spanish.Dr. Cabral enjoys practicing in the Bay Area and has spent the past two years caring for patients in Sonoma and Marin counties. He is a fan of running, snowboarding, golf and wine.

In Part 2 we discuss Erik’s top 5 countries and most of his adventures. We talk about countries such as Mexico, Turkey, Russia and Cuba. Erik also discuses how it’s difficult to travel to certain areas being a vegetarian. He has traveled for the past 7 years to over 40 countries as a vegetarian. Erik also talks about how travel helps him learn to connect with people better and allows him to relax and decompress and fill his own cup. It also allows him to build and develop precious memories. Isaac talks about when he worked in retirement planning and how the #1 answer to the question when people were asked, what do you want to do when you retire was “Travel.” Erik shares stories of people who had all these grand plans of traveling but by the time they get there they are already sick and broken and can’t experience this dream of travel anymore the way they dreamed about. Erik talks about why he travels now so that he has the energy and capability to truly experience the countries he visits. Erik also explains how you can find so many amazing places close to home if you can’t travel far. Jho talks about how San Francisco used to be considered the “Paris of the Pacific.” We talk about how awesome the Bay Area is and how there is so much to see and do in the place we call home. We discuss the Sutro Baths, State Parks, Hikes, The Fern River Resort and much more.

We discuss why he chose Dermatology as a specialization. Erik talks about the fact that he loves being a specialist. And how he can do everything in home and the buck stops with him. He’s, "somewhat of a Renaissance man" as he puts it. Isaac asks if he’s like Dr. Pimple Popper and Erik says similar but more on the surgical side. Erik talks about how this rewarding to restore someone’s self-esteem by removing skin growths and Acne. As he puts it, “these growths won’t take your life, but will affect your life.”

We talk a little more about travel, specifically Tulum Mexico. Erik talks about how it’s an international community of health and wellness and it’s very plant based friendly. Erik talks about a synergy of wellness, spirituality and energy and mind body connection. He talks about feeling a special connection and energy about Tulum right now. Isaac gives a good example about energy and how we are all energy so it makes sense about Erik having that special feeling about Tulum. Erik gives the physicists view on death and transfer of energy. And Isaac completely agrees.

We also discuss financial strategies and Crypto currency. Erik gives his views on it and talks about it being the future of the transfer of money. In Part 1 we talk about his upbringing in the Bay Area, in a rough part of San José in the "horseshoe" gang neighborhood. He grew up with his mother because his parents divorced at age 2. Being the oldest of 3 Erik was forced to be the man of the house due to his mother having to work long hours. Caring for his younger siblings Erik learned to be humble, compassionate and care for others.

Erik had a rebellious stage when he was young but quickly learned the gang life had not future and wasn’t for him. He was still close with his father who taught him tough love and structure. His father lived in nice suburb of Santa Clara which ay that time was a drastic difference from the rough horseshoe neighborhood of San José. Even though his father was around Eriks mother was his “rock” in life. His mother taught him compassion and always give people the benefit of the doubt and to always help others.

He talks about how he never thought he would become a doctor but since he’s always been “nerdy” in school he gravitated toward medicine because it was a scientific way to heal people. We talk about how he met his best friend in middle school when they almost got into fight. This friend is also the person who connected Erik and Isaac many years ago. We also talk about how Erik has always been on the path of his purpose since he was very young and he just continued on that path his entire life. Erik also talks about how doctors these days are switching to being more healthy and healing themselves before they heal others.

Erik also talks about how he tested for the Gifted And Talented Education GATE program. And after he realized the grafiti artist and gang life was not for him he began to believe in himself and focused on his education. Erik talks about working so hard in high school and doing so much extra work that when he arrived at Stanford University he had enough credits to be a junior. He didn’t even realize this because he just put his head down and put the work in. He remembers thinking he thought this is what everyone does not knowing he was overachieving.

We discuss about him getting to Stanford and how he quickly realized compared to most of the kids there, he was very poor. He talks about the culture shock he faced. Examples like freshman kids showing up with brand new Mercedes cars and traveling to Bali & Switzerland and Erik being driven to school by his mother in their beat up van. He talks about most kids being prepped at boarding schools and prep schools and how he didn’t even own a computer. So instead of traveling to exotic places Erik went back to his mantra of hard work and focus. He didn’t want to go back to San Jose so he stayed at school and hit the books. We also talk about when he finally settled into Stanford and felt comfortable. And how the associations there motivated him to do bigger and better things which led him to studying abroad at Oxford.

Erik talks about his current career and how he tries real hard to be relatable to his patients and people and doesn’t start with the resume and education he has built up. He also talks about really learning about his patients and how he loves to connect with them before they even discuss the medical portion of their visit. He also talks about how this helps him avoid burn out and making his profession less robotic. This also falls back on his background of being compassionate towards others.

We also get into the fun part of being a successful doctor which allows Erik to travel the World and how he’s been to 40 countries so far.

I Part 1 we discuss him growing up in American Canyon, CA. He was the youngest of three boys and they were all homeschooled by their mother. His father, a British immigrant married his mother and came across the pond. It was a love at first sight romance. Byron talks about being raised that family is the most important thing in life. These values have been passed down for many generations starting with his grandfather who came from Jamaica. We talk about the awesome story of his grandfather who immigrated from Jamaica to the United Kingdom after WWII. His grandfather left Jamaica for a better future for his family and had to give up his 3 cows which at the time were everything he owned. As Byron puts it, "my grandfather led with love and gentleness." This action taken by his grandfather many years ago, left a positive ripple effect on Byron's family for generations.

He talks about what it was like growing up with 3 brothers, all homeschooled. He talks about the positives and negatives about being homeschooled. Particularly the social cues he didn’t learn because he wasn’t socialized with other people outside of him homeschool group and family. The benefits were being able to travel and learn and experience more things than the rigid structure of public school system. He talks about how moving to San Francisco was great for him because it was a firehouse to the face of social interaction and many different types of people.

He talks about why his parents made the decision to home school their kids and the fact that his mother was passionate about teaching and experiences that it was the perfect fit to homeschool her children. He also talks about how him and his middle brother became music artists due to being homeschooled. He also talks about over coming a series brain disease when he was 12 years old which ironically made him focus more on music and gave him a outlet when he was sick. Byron also gives some good advice to those who are being homeschooled currently. Byron was a positive and delightful guest. Please enjoy the show!

In this Episode we sit down with Moroni Silva the founder of "A Dead Desire, an Independent Alternative Rock Project from Logan, Utah created in April of 2015. The concept of A Dead Desire came to Moroni during an Ayahuasca ceremony in California where he had attended the ceremony with the intention of ridding himself of a 13 year dependency to Opiates which developed from a severe car accident as a freshmen in high school. After that experience his desire to use Heroin and Opiates was completely dead hence the name "A Dead Desire. Moroni is a songwriter, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, percussionist, and vocalist. The project has released two full length albums titled ‘Resurrecting The Mind’ and ‘Confiding In "The Oculist," a single entitled "The Vanity" a single entitled "Rage," as well as a cover song of The Eurythmics ‘Here Comes The Rain Again’ which was released as a single.

In Part 2 we talk about Cannabis and how it has healing properties and Moroni talks about how it helps him with anxiety and dealing with being a strong empath. We discuss the story of how marijuana aka cannabis became so misunderstood.

Moroni tells a story of how he healed himself from an injury & surgery that was deemed impossible to heal from. The doctor was amazed and said he should be on the pamphlet of Harvard medical. When he tells the doctor he healed himself with meditation, reiki healing and ho oponopono, the doctor dismissed him and ignored the apparent Miracle.

We discuss the power of the mind and the ability to heal. Moroni talks about a book The Autobiography of a Yogi. Moroni shares about how he grew up LDS and Mormon and how he’s changed to a more spiritual path in his life journey. Moroni talks about the book The Holy Science. Episode 38 - Part 1: Maroni Silva -" A Dead Desire" A Rockstar who overcame years of addiction and adversity with the plant medicine Ayahuasca.

In Part 1 we discuss his upbringing. Moroni was born in Logan, UT and raised in Bear Lake, Idaho. When he was a freshman in High School he was in a major car accident and was prescribed opiates and this is where his battle with addiction began. The accident forced him to miss a lot of school and he was at risk of being help back a year so he was forced to switch High Schools. After graduation he moved back to Logan, UT where he began his music career. He wanted to master his craft so he started learning all aspects of the music industry. He thought he had a music internship setup, when it suddenly fell apart, however he was able to find an internship at a movie theatre which helped him graduate from the school of music. He then moved to Salt Lake City where he ran into more adversity.

He got caught up in a bad relationship in Salt Lake and he found himself wrongfully accused of domestic violence and an attempt by police to frame him for things he didn't do. Moroni found himself in jail facing 7 felonies and being locked away and not being able to see his chid for a long time. However, when his child's mother realized that she wouldn't survive without him because he was the sold provider, she quickly changed her story and tried to get him out of jail. After this and reviewing the evidence the Judge quickly realized the case was flawed and wanted to throw the case out. However, the city and police feared a lawsuit so Moroni was left with a plea deal and had to spend 6 months in jail. Once he was released from jail Moroni found a job and quickly started to excel and move up. Because of this Moroni proved to the courts he was a good person and was released from probation early. However, the opiates addiction still haunted him.

Maroni talks about hitting age 25 and having his insurance run out leaving him to figure out how to deal with his opiates addiction. Not being able to afford opiates without insurance, he began to suffer from major withdrawals. He asked a friend of his if there was a way to deal with this, and he was given what he was thought to be opium, but later turned out to be heroin. Maroni was now left to deal with another serious addiction to heroin. However, Moroni was determined to hide his addiction and not let it destroy his life. He figured out ways to get bye and take small doses, just enough to not have to deal with the withdrawals. Unfortunately, after another serious car accident, where he was given gabapentin in the hospital he was now addicted to another opiate. He talks about leaving the hospital with a new addiction and new challenges to overcome.

We discuss his spiritual journey with Ayahuasca and how it helped him kick many years of struggling with addiction. He tells a story of how he healed himself from the injuries of his car accidents, which the doctors told him he would never be able to play the guitar properly ever again and he beat the odds. He tells the amazing story of his first Ayahuasca experience at the Portal De Luz where he's been going now for over 6 years and has changed his life and the lives of many others.

In this Episode we talk about Brian talks about how he deals with adversity and uses it as fuel, instead of it letting it stop or slow him down. He tells a story about how as soon as he got licensed he was in a major car accident where his car flipped several times and hit a tree, luckily he made it out with only a scratch. He talks about making it in an industry where most young people don’t make it. He was told he had to be so good people had to listen to him. So Brian set out to master his craft. With the odds stacked against him once again he committed to making it in this new industry. Brian talks about his journey in this new career and all the challenges and obstacles he overcame being very young. Brian gives advice to young people and young Latinos on how to break away and become successful.

We discuss his career in financial services and how this financial education and career has not only helped him but his family as well. Brian and Isaac share a similar experience with their mothers retirement and how this financial education has helped their parents be put into a better financial situation. Brian talks about his accomplishments such as becoming the youngest broker in the company and challenging the people in his office and beating many people who were much older than him. He talks about the decision he made to build an agency. He realized he could help more people through building an agency than just trying to help clients himself. We talk about the Zoom era of business and how it’s helped him expand his company and we talk about how it’s helping our podcast expand as well. Brian talks about his career opportunity giving people not only freedom of time but money as well in the process. And Jho asks her World famous six Q’s

Episode 37 - Part 1: Brian Avila - Raised in East Salinas, Field worker at 12, College at 15, financial broker at age 20

In this Episode we sit down with Brian Avila. Raised in the rough parts of East Salinas where gang violence was rampant. Brian remembers hearing gunshots daily and his parents telling him and his brothers it was fireworks. We also discuss how close him and his brothers are all growing up together. He remembers being bullied in the 3rd or 4th grade but this all stopped when his older brother taught him now to defend himself. Brian also remembers how he had built up anger and revenge inside of himself, which drove him to the gang life, because his older brother was shot by rival gangs. Not knowing this wasn't the normal way of life Brian did what he needed to do. Brian also talks about why so many kids who grow up in rough neighborhoods get lost to the streets. He also questions gang violence and says it really doesn't make sense, because it's the same race killing each other, as he puts it, "its just Mexicans killing other Mexicans."

We talk about Brian becoming aware of his parents struggles physically and financially when he was just 12 years old. He saw that his parents were "breaking their backs and he could see the pain and suffering from long days in the fields, but they would still come home and make sure the kids were fed. He didn't feel right asking for money, so he started working in the fields full-time at age 12. He tells us crazy stories about working in the fields. He started working in the vineyard and remembers having to carry 40 pound to his most humbling experience when working in the cactus fields. He says they give you protective gear but you still can't avoid getting thorns in your body. As he puts it, "you're either baking in the heat with all the gear, or you don't use it and face the thorns." He even recalls getting thorns in his eyes at one point. He calls this the most humbling experience in his life and this field work taught him the value of money. Even though it was rough, this hard labor field work allowed Brian to bring home $1,000 a month at 14 years old.

Brian talks about having a "no quit" mentality and always wanting to be the best since he can remember. This mentality was fueled many times in his life. However, Brian was driven to prove them wrong and be #1 so he could get out of the hood. We also talk about breaking away from the conforming mindset of his culture and his working class immigrant parents.

As be puts it, "sometimes those conversations can turn into arguments, which makes it tougher." His father was a "conformista" which didn't mesh well with Brian's mindset. Because of this, the conversations with his father were always very short and the only quality time they had together was working in the fields because that's what his father knew best. His mother was a hard worker but always taught Brian to appreciate things but to always seek more in life. Because of this Brian was forced to always think for himself and become a Leader at a young age.

We also discuss Brian's mentor who was like a father figure and changed his life for the better. Since Brian was already working full-time in the fields by the time he hit high school he had to do independent studies. He wasn't given a tutor because they knew he was working full-time so again, Brian has to figure it all out himself. Because he has to figure it out himself it forced him to grow and he started to excel in school and he finished High School early and started college at age 15. Again Brian found himself as the youngest person around and once again he has to silence the doubters and prove to everyone he could make it regardless of his age. Brian was 5 classes from graduation but adversity has struck again when his mother was involved in a serious car accident and he was forced to drop out to help his family. Shortly after this his mentor offered him the opportunity of a lifetime and Brian was given the chance to build his own legacy in the financial services industry. She's also about to publish a health cookbook and she's launching an all Vegan beauty product line.

I Part 2 we dive deeper into how to grow your social media with Tik Tok and Eloisa talks about how she put in the work and took it serious and exploded to 10,000 followers in a week. She talks about being recognized by Tik Tok as a creator and how this motivated her to learn to monetize more of her passions.

We discuss her life as a Mom and how she juggles being a mom along with running her other ventures. Eloisa talks about being a Twitch streamer and Fortnite gamer and how that career came from her dealing with a difficult time in her life. It was an escape that helped her get her mind off things. She became hooked on the game and her entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and she was focused on how she could monetize it. She also mentions that it was a way for her to connect with people during the pandemic.

She talks about feeling shamed and judged when she decided to make a career out of content creation, but now she has silenced the haters because of her growing success. And now she's carving out a career out of pursuing her highest excitement and following her bliss! She mentions the creating part is sometimes not always fun, but once the final product is finished it gives her a feeling of fulfillment and she feels it blesses others. I Part 1 we discuss her crazy story of her and her sister being brought here by a "Coyote" when they were very young, she was 6 years old and her sister was 2. They had to come alone because her parents were already in the United States due to her mother being diagnosed with a terminal illness (brain cancer) and she sought better treatment in the US. She also talks about her first experiences in the US.She remembers the food tasting so differently and being put into an all English speaking class when first came to the US, even though she didn't speak any English.

She remembers being asked by the teachers to read out loud in front of the class even though she couldn't speak or read English which traumatized her. She says she didn't feel comfortable with English until 10th grade. However, Eloisa was determined to succeed. Once summer in High School her teacher gave her a huge science text book. Since she already had an affinity for science she made it her goal to read the entire book from front to back and rewrite the book herself chapter by chapter. Because of this one event, it caused her to excel in school and graduate with honors. She pursued Science in college but it wasn't fulfilling so she decided to experiment with other majors. Her parents being hard working Mexican immigrants always taught her "work doesn't need to be enjoyable it just needs to be done." However, she always questioned this and asked herself, "why can't my work be enjoyable?"

We discuss how she made a decision that life is short and she wanted to be happy with her work and her life. She was also a natural born writer and writing was the way she had always been able to express herself the best. This writing skill is what allowed her to express herself when she was struggling to communicate in English and it now has helped her write a book and create her own music. We also discuss how she became a robotics instructor and how this career taught her how o run a business. We also talk about how she got into becoming a Tik Tok creator and how she has learned to deal with the fear and anxiety that sometimes comes with putting yourself out there as a content creator on social media platforms. Jho puts it best, "we are all weirdos, we just need to embrace our weirdness." Eloisa also gives tips on how to use Tik Tok and Reels to grow your social media presence. This was an amazing episode enjoy the show!

In this episode we sit down with KJ Focus born Kalin Freeman, is an American musician saxophonist, producer and song writer. The Oakland native has made his name in the industry by showcasing his talent within many genres of music. Confidently crossing the playing fields of R&B, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Latin and Tribal. The highly ranked soloist has been able to share the stage with some of the most prolific names in in the music game such as Solange and most recently David Banner.

Freeman has played in front of some of the largest audiences, and is a well known name at the University of Cal Berkeley. He has also been booked for many festivals and has even taken his talent into the depths of California’s very own San Quentin State Prison so share his joy amongst the mass population of inmates.

Over the years Focus has become more than just a musician and has positioned himself to be a major power house of connection by directly introducing other musicians to new opportunities through his platform. He recently soft launched his own music label "Focused Productionz." Freeman has a vision of eliminating some of the struggles he has seen young artists dealing with and has made it his mission to assist as many people as he can while working his way to the top. When asked what motivates his drive, KJ explains that the memory of his mother who passed away when he was 9, has been the fuel to his flame and motivates him to a level that is unexplainable by words. Sound has been his voice for years now. Waking up each day focused on bettering himself has been his mission and has allowed him to push through any and all of life’s hurdles.

In Part 2 we discuss his performance with Solange in front of over 10,000 people. This performance lit a fire underneath him to become successful so that he will be able to perform in front of large crowds many times in the future. We also discuss his dream performance, which would be at the Super Bowl. As he said, "If I ever got that opportunity I would kill it!"

KJ continues to impress us with his amazing mindset. He talks about time being an illusion. We discuss diet and how that affects your thinking and emotions. In Part 1 we discuss.. We talk about his upbringing in Oakland. He lost his grandmother and mother at the young age of 9 and lived with his grandfather into 16 when he moved to Richmond with his older sister who was like his mother. He talks about being involved in sports at first but then he was introduced to music at age 15 where he found his love for the saxophone! It was somewhat of an accident how he was put into the music class but he instantly knew he has a natural talent and developed a love for the saxophone. He remembers his first big performance playing the Black National Anthem and he killed it, this is the moment he knew this was his purpose.

He also talks about a valuable lesson he learned from his uncle about taking action and just doing it. Regardless of if he felt like it or if he was ready. He also talks about his mentality of wanting to be the best and working hard and training and practicing everyday religiously. And how those habits have led him to the success he has now and have made him into who he is now. As he puts it, he didn’t realize what he was doing and the impact it had until 7 years later when he 22 years old. He also talks about how his sister is a boss and how she was the first role model in his life and replaced the mother figure role in his life.

He talks about starting music really late at 15. And how he received a scholarship in only his 2nd year and was able to go to the Berkley college of music after only playing for 2 years. He had some doubt until one of his classmates told him he should feel confident that he’s here after only 2 years.

We talk about how he got into so many different genres of music. And how how since he has a good ear which allows him to learn it quick and be able to create from all types of genres. He talks about how his uncle gave him some great advice. “Never create music thats playing now, create music for the future” We also talk about his experience being able to play at San Quentin Prison with Robert Woods.

We discuss his label The Focus Team and why he created it. And how nowadays when you sign a contract with a major label it’s like signing your soul away. So he created a label to help artists without having to have them sign their life away and make it more fair for the artists. And we ask the question on why artists struggle to make a living these days. And why is it so hard for artists in this day and age.

In this Episode we sit down with DJ's J-Funk and DJ Tempo. The Bay Area is home to some of the greatest artist in electronic music. Many have started their careers there and J-Funk is no exception. Always armed with a big smile and hearty laugh this San Jose based artist has learned to channel his good vibe mentality into infectious house music. A DJ since the mid-nineties J-Funk has paid his dues spinning everything from high-energy to hip-hop at house parties, school dances, and clubs. J-Funk has been heavily influenced by the funky grooves of seventies Disco and R&B. His extensive mobile DJ and club experience have given him a keen sense of what will get the party people moving and according to J-Funk " that's what it's all about."

DJ Tempo representing Funk Lab Crew is a San Jose native that has been in the DJ scene for well over 20 plus years. Throughout his career he has also been a promoter, MC and mobile DJ. He started off DJ'ing with all of his friends that lived in the same neighborhood. He then branched off to mixing at house parties, dances, community events, bay area bars, clubs and raves. His biggest event was DJ'ing at was Metropolis in San Jose at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds which held over 20,000 plus party goers. DJ Tempo’s favorite music to spin is funky, disco, and vocal house. But over the years he has transitioned to playing all genres like hip hop, R & B, old school and freestyle which has given him more opportunities to move the crowd and get the people on the dance floor doing what he does best.

In Part 2 we talk about how they created a DJ "Supercrew" which became the Funklab which started with their first event The Funklab BBQ. They talk about the dynamic of the Funklab which is a mixture of hip-hop and house music DJ's which each have their own unique style. We talk about their beginnings of throwing rave parties back in the 1990's and the funny story of how they threw a rave at a barn in the middle of nowhere and how they actually met the owners.

We reminisce of how San Jose was the place to be for huge festivals such as the Cinco De Mayo festival in the 1990's where 300,000 people from all over would come to San Jose for this huge event. We also discuss how their career began taking off after starting to throw their own parties and how they began to make a name for themselves which still lives on to this day.

We also talk about how the pandemic has created a huge virtual space for artists and DJ's and how the Funklab is now hosting a twitch channel. J-Funk talks about his hesitation to go virtual at first but how that changed and now they are excited to grow their twitch channel and online presence. We also discuss how their careers were always supported by their families and it became a family business and how this has always been a huge driving force in their success. J-Funk and DJ Tempo give some great advice for young DJ's out there. And we finish it off with Jho asking her world famous six powerful questions. This was a wholesome and funky episode! In Part 1 we discuss the story of how they grew up in the same neighborhood and were childhood friends. The neighbors were such good friends they even made a gate in their fences to be able to walk right through. They talk about being the good kids who were creative and stayed home in order to avoid trouble. Growing up they were not the jocks and had to find a hobby so they turned to deejaying and music. Being the children of young parents, their families were really into music and family parties. Their parents exposed them to lots of different types of music such as 70’s rock, funk, jazz and Spanish music. J-Funk tells the story of his first ever DJ'ing experience at a school dance where the DJ left and he had to step in and wing it.

They started their careers DJing High Energy music because they liked the dance party scene which was huge in San Jose. They talk about being so young they couldn’t go out so they were “bedroom DJ’s” and as DJ Tempo puts it, the pandemic turned everyone into bedroom DJ’s nowadays. They talk about never being given the opportunity to DJ in the beginning of their careers, so they had to do it on their own and create their own parties. This built the hustle in them and to this day the FUNKLAB is still going strong due to this mindset of doing to themselves and hustle for opportunities.

J-Funk talks about his Dad investing in him and buying him DJ equipment but still taught him the value of money by making him pay him back. However, this investment his father made in him started their mobile DJ career. Mobile DJ'ing forced them to become diverse in the style and music they play due to diverse crowds.

We also talk about where funk lab started and why it started and how it saved them from the streets. We also talk about how they select music and how it was picking out records back in the day. And how Funk Lab is now a 30 year grass roots movement with a strong following. We discuss their first huge party at the fairgrounds which was a wild and crazy experience! In this Episode we sit down with LisSandra Duarte she is the CEO of multiple financial brokerage firms. She helps businesses and individuals set themselves up for future success. She has a Masters in Business and a minor in Finance. Her previous experience as a corporate executive for over 10 years has helped her attain an understand for expansion and growth in different markets. LisSandra is a Leader in networking and marketing ventures, especially in connection to resources and human capital. She's an entrpreneur & personal networking professional with a background in corporate expansion & marketing efforts. She also has a passion for small business and she's excited about personally helping other small businesses evolve and flourish. Ultimately her goal is to become an Angel Investor.

In Part 2 Lissandra talks about being made choose between being around for her newborn son or taking a position where she would be traveling most of the time. So, she gave up her dream job to be a mom. Shortly after that she went through a separation, & became unemployed. Struggling to find work and put food on the table for her son she did whatever it took to provide for her son. Working odd jobs until she found a great opportunity with a trucking company.

She continued to overachieve and lead a huge project, better than anyone else has in the history of the company had. Her project brought in $34 million dollars for the company. However, due to discrimination for being a female in a male dominated industry she was passed up for a big promotion and again forced to resign. Shortly after that she got invited to another pastors church and that’s where she was presented with an opportunity that changed her life forever. This is where her financial services career journey began. Again she was left to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix and make another great comeback.

Being taught to be a giver, Lissandra’s always did more than was required, sometimes to her own detriment. With her new financial company, she qualified for a special retreat and was given some profound words. “Your era of giving is coming to and end and it’s time for you to start receiving.” This profound advice made a huge impact on her and allowed her to be a better receiver. This motivated Lissandra to make some big life changes and decisions. When she went to her personal mentor for advice he told her, “there are people meant to be assistants and people meant to be leaders, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to keep you as an assistant, it’s your time to be a leader.” After that she consulted with another leader who made her realize it wasn’t about the money, it’s about what the money can do for you. As Tony Robbins says, “Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure.” These three pieces of advice motivated her to make big changes such as move back to Arizona and switch companies. While this change was a bit scary at first she took the leap of faith.

Lissandra talks about her new business venture and how she had to adapt. After a tough start she started to build momentum and she now has a growing and successful organization! She talks about the benefits of her current organization and the career opportunities it provides. And shares her gratitude for now being in a position where she’s very blessed business wise and financially.

We also discuss about how Lissandra spends about 80% of her time away from her son because he lives in CA with his father, but how the time they spend is quality. And she always taking her son on trips with her and how they’ve traveled the World together in his young life. Even though she’s busy building her company she makes sure she is there 100% for her son every opportunity she gets. And how she’s doing all this for her son and their future and to one day become an Angel Investor and help others succeed. In Part 1 we discuss her upbringing as the oldest of 7 children in a place called "Barrio Holywood in Tucson, Arizona. Her father an immigrant from Mexico was an ordained Minister and Construction contractor and entrepreneur. Her mother was American and was a teacher for the deaf and blind and eventually transitioned to a stay-at-home mother as the family grew. Even though they grew up poor her parents did their best to make sure none of the children ever felt it. Her father taught her work ethic, faith and entrepreneurship. Her mother taught her to always pour positivity into your children and always told LisSandra that she could have anything she wanted if she was willing to work hard for it. Since her father was a Minister LisSandra and her siblings grew up in Church. They attended Church 5 days a week. Her parents showed LisSandra what seemed like a perfect example of parenting and a great marriage. As she puts it, "the ruined marriage for me, because they made it look so easy." LisSandra has a great childhood and was always pushed by her mother to stay active and be involved.

She was involved in many extracurricular activities, was part of student government and played basketball. She remembers her mother teaching her about competition because she never let her children win unless they fought for it. She is now passing on this lesson to her son when it comes to competition. In her Senior year LisSandra started dating a football player and began to become rebellious due to growing up in church and being controlled. However, she has a spiritual awakening in Church one day and her life was changed forever. We discuss how her live and career started after graduating from college and how she worked her way up the ranks in retail. Her dream was to be like the character Rachel Green from the sitcom "Friends." This was a very powerful and entertaining episode full of life lesson. In Part 1 we discuss Chris' upbringing growing up in a strong Mexican-American family unit, as the oldest of 3 boys. They lived in San Antonio and the Rio Grand Valley in south Texas, 15 minutes from the Mexican border surrounded by Mexican culture. Chris tells us stories of the differences between the big city of San Antonio and the small town of Harlingen. His parents were High School sweethearts and provided him and his brothers with great parenting and a good home. Chris talks about how him and his brothers were good kids and how his mother was an inspiration for them and she used very creative techniques to discipline them along with providing them with a valuable life lesson at the same time. Isaac and Chris get into a good conversation about basketball and the San Antonio Spurs because both of them are life long Spurs fans. They talk about the glory years of the 2000's where the Spurs and Lakers virtually traded championships throughout the entire decade.

Chris talks about being excited to move out of south Texas and how him and his fiancé have lived in several different locations for long periods of time including places like Austin, Texas, Hawaii and now San Francisco, CA. He tells the interesting story of how him and his fiancé met through friends in the small town of Harlingen after getting in trouble with the law. He talks about his issues with the law affecting his ability to move forward in life so he had to pivot to entrepreneurship and self-education. This adversity which he turned into a positive and the recent legalization of Cannabis led to the creation of Canna Theory.

Chris talks about his San Francisco experience pre-pandemic and post pandemic. And how the falling rent prices have put them in a better living situation and his hope is that a more affordable San Francisco will attract more creative people and artists. He tells a hilarious joke that an Uber driver told him when he first landed in SF. Chris also shares how he and his business partner came up with the idea for Canna Theory and how he feels that the pandemic has caused a "DIY renaissance" worldwide and that his company will be in prime position to fill the need. He talks about his flagship product "HempCrete" and how this product will reduce carbon in the environment and help battle climate change. Channon is also a member of the Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce.

Her life mission is to influence change and encourage and empower individuals to live life to the fullest, without judgement. She is known as a role model by many of her peers. She is constantly building relationships that open opportunities that are not so obvious. She also has a wealth of knowledge that can change one's perspective of the journey of entrepreneurship. She's all about continuous learning and growth to level up her success and the success of others. As CEO of Kiwi Vision her focus is to build a solid foundation of skills and relationships that come together, to develop innovative tools and solutions to everyday life. She is the powerhouse behind the drive and growth of Kiwi Vision.

In Part 2 we discuss the evolution of her manufacturing company Kiwi Vision and how one idea has evolved into many different products and uses. Channon also talks about being a Founder and CEO of Kiwi Vision, having a career as a Vice President II at Silicon Valley Bank, taking care of her sick mother, having a husband and two dogs and how she handles all of this while still finding time to have fun and travel. In Part 1 we discuss her growing up in Atlanta, Georgia as the "linchpin" of her family to then moving to California in High School. She tells the story of how and why her father sent her to California to be with her mother. She talks about having to live in a hotel with her mother for the first few years, which was made tougher when the kids in school would tease her, however she managed to overcome this in her own special way which also was a first glimpse of her entrepreneurial spirit! We discuss the recent loss of her eldest sister Adrian Bird who was a well published and successful Author.

Channon talks about always being a high achiever. She was in AP classes, marching band, and played the saxophone all through High School. She was also the first person in her family to go to college and get a Masters Degree. She never had anyone guiding her to do this but she attributes her high achieving to understanding she was a black woman in America and she wanted to eliminate as many obstacles and "No's" as possible on her path to success. She realized the challenges ahead in life and wanted to be prepared! She remembers a funny story of how she got her first job at a Bank because of her voice and being articulate. They confused her or being a white woman over the phone and were surprised when she walked in but she still ended up getting the job. This job eventually led her to obtaining her current job at Silicon Valley Bank in Santa Clara, CA. which led to a successful 22 year career.

She talks about her journey up the ranks at Silicon Valley Bank which she calls, "the Bay Area's best kept secret." She tells us about the amazing culture at the Bank and how well they take care of their employees in a genuine way. She's held various jobs and positions at the Bank and has now climbed her way up to Vice President II in the Operations department. As she puts it, her career at SVB has been a "journey of different opportunities and roles and everyday she's growing, learning and expanding."

We also discuss how she juggles her 22 year career at Silicon Valley Bank along with being the Founder and CEO of Kiwi Vision. She also tells the inspiring story of how she got the idea for Kiwi Vision in 2008 in Las Vegas and what was the driving force for her to name the company and start it. In this Episode we sit down with Anthony Richie aka "Lyrical Tone." It's not about the longevity of ones life, but the quality of ones life. Raised in the Fillmore district of San Francisco Lyrical Tone has seen it all. He was raised by his grandparents due to his parents being addicted to drugs. After the passing of his grandmother in 2005, which "shook" him because she passed away in her sleep and he was the person who tried to wake her up, he decided to take a shot at rap music. He created the group Legends Live Forever. In 2013 Lyrical Tone decided to challenge himself more as an artist and released his first ever solo project titled "Live Forever," which he produced entirely by himself. As he puts it, "some are destined to succeed, some are determined to succeed."

He has since produced music for various artists on the West Coast, including multiple songs featured on the Bay Area radio station 106.1 K.M.E.L.'s "Home Turf" which showcases unsigned Bay Area talent. He continued his momentum and strengthened his brand through a clothing line, production and visuals. He also performed on tours such as Breaking Ground (2014) and Free Play (2018). He even opened up for the late Nipsey Hustle. He continued to produce for showcases such as Spread the Wealth and For the Love of Music. His Albums include "Something Greater" (2016), "Superficial City" (2019) and Honeybunch (2020) which is dedicated to his late grandmother. These can be found on all major outlets. As he puts it, "the goal is not to live forever, but to create something that will."

In Part 2 Tony talks about growing up in San Francisco's Fillmore district and how his entire city and neighborhood have been bought up by Big Tech. Tony explains how this gentrification was the main inspiration for his 2019 Album "Superficial City." Isaac shares his experience with his home city San Jose, California also becoming gentrified and changed completely since he was a child. The biggest example of this he explains, is how he lives a few miles from eBay and how eBay now owns the entire city block and all the townhomes behind it.

We discuss the re-emergence of the trading card industry and how Isaac found his old collection which is now worth thousands of dollars. Jho tells a story of when she was young growing up in the Philippines and her father, who was in the U.S.A. would send her and her brother baseball cards from America and they would sell them. This small side hustle helped them pay for a surgery her mother needed at the time.

Tony talks about his most recent Album "Honeybunch" which is dedicated to his late grandmother. He spent a lot of time on this album and it's full of hard hitting tracks and he feels it's his best project to date. He also talks about future Album releases "Sarge" dedicated to his late grandfather and "Goonies Never say die."

Tony shares amazing stories of his recent travels to Spain, Italy, Egypt and a life changing trip to Peru. He visited Machu Picchu in Peru, the Luvre Museum in Paris, and the Castles of the Moor's in Spain. He learns about the true history of his African heritage and says that racism is mainly in the United States. He talks about doing lots of soul searching during his travels and takes us on a trip around the World with his magical stories! We cap it off with some words of Wisdom from Tony and Jho asks her world famous Six Q's! This was a very exciting episode, Tony is an amazing guy! Enjoy the show.

Episode 29 - Part 1: Lyrical Tone a Bay Area Rapper Raised in the Fillmore district of San Francisco

In Part 1 we discuss his upbringing in the Westin edition of the Fillmore district in San Francisco. Because his parents were addicted to drugs, he was raised by his grandparents. When he was young he felt like he was missing something since he didn't have his parents and was a "knucklehead" and angry as a youth. However, later in life he realized this was a blessing in disguise because his grandparents were "legendary." His grandmother was the matriarch of the family, a strong no nonsense woman and his grandfather was a decorated Marine. His grandfather was one of the first black Marines and received the Congressional Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart. His grandparents always pushed Tony to be better.

Tony had a strong Catholic upbringing, structure and education he because he was put in strong Catholic schools. Tony attended Mission Dolores and Reardon High School. Education and competition was fierce at these schools. His grandparents always pushed him to be involved in many extracurricular activities to keep him from being lost to the streets. Even though his father wasn't around he always had strong male figures in his life. His grandfather, his best friends father and his Uncle who lived with them. His grandmother who raised him to be humble was extremely important to the family. After his grandmother's passing from a heart attack due to stress from having lost so many of her children too soon, the family was fractured. This taught Tony life is short and how deadly stress can be and to live a stress free life.

We discuss how Tony was good at basketball and this gave him confidence and popularity at a young age. "Hoopin' made me popular in my neighborhood," as he puts it. It also taught him that respect is earned not given, as he had to earn his respect on the basketball court competing with other players. This is when he started doing music and created his group Legends Live Forever. During this time he was picked up by Big Rich during the "hyphy" era and decided to go solo and created his first mixed tape "Live Forever."

We discuss his music and his albums and the strong musical influence his Uncle had on his life. His Uncle had been involved in Hip Hop and music since the 80's and would always bring Tony along with him. One time they opened for Public Enemy and he was asked to freestyle on stage. All he remembers is being so terrified he "blacked out." We go deeper into his albums and the meaning behind them and why he produced them. We also talk about the gentrification of his neighborhood in San Francisco and how passionate he is about this situation. Tony is a very charismatic and fun guy. Enjoy the show!

Episode 28 - Part 2: Dionn Renee Lupus survivor, graphic artist, painter, and power business woman.

In this Episode we sit down with Dionn Renee. Dionn was born with a God given gift for Art and she fell in love with drawing at the age of 4. She's also a close relative to the famous Jackson family, her grandmother and Joe Jackson are first cousins. She was born to young parents, therefore she was really raised by her two grandmothers. She tells the funny story of being raised by two completely different families. One side it were strict Jehovah Witnesses and the other side were strict Catholics. Except for having to adjust to the polar opposite lifestyles of her two distinctly different sides of her family life was fairly normal and good.

However, her life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with a severe case of Lupus at age 13. This forced Dionn to be alone a lot because she was always sick and became the "girl in the bubble." The disease caused such intense arthritic pain that it was painful to move and this caused her to miss a lot of school. She almost had to repeat the 8th grade due to being in the hospital so long. Thankfully, her outstanding grades had saved her from failing and she was able to graduate. While she was in the hospital fighting her disease she overheard a nurse saying she wouldn't live to be age 21. Instead of letting this devastate her, she used it as fuel to excel in life and in school. She felt that if she only had 8 years left she was going to make the best of it!

She continued to excel in High School and was voted "Most Artistic" this derailed her plans of becoming a Doctor and she switched her focus to Art. When High School came to and end a miracle happened and Dionn, her arthritis began to disappear and she was finally able to move without pain. She felt like her dreams had come true and she was given a new lease on life. She took this new found freedom and the habits she had built during her years of adversity battling Lupus and began to excel even further in life.

She went on to her dream college Temple University, where she attended Tyler School of Art. This taste of Freedom was liberating and full of life lessons. She was voted President of Student Government in college and continued to get straight A's in academics. She was able to study abroad for a semester in Rome and fell in love with traveling. By the time of her graduation she had already been to 8 countries.

She was able to create her dream job of being a graphic designer/clothing designer one month before graduation. However she was already deep into her dream career. Her company was very successful and had even designed some clothes for "The Roots." After a few years of success the clothing company went out of business. This forced Dionn begin the next Chapter in her life which was her painting career.

In 2007 she moved from Philadelphia to Harrisburgh and began her first real painting series entitled "Perceiving Humans." This was a very philosophical Art series and it went along with the principles of the world famous documentary "The Secret." In 2008 she became a celebrity photographer. Her and her friends became "rockstar" artists. However, after many years of success in this realm adversity struck again.

Her and her Artist friends had been planning a huge art show and they had all their years of Art pieces and all their supplies in a warehouse. A huge fire broke out in the warehouse due to old, faulty wiring in the building and Dionn lost her entires life work of Art and Art supplies. Dionn was forced to start over, however, already having to deal with a lot of adversity in her life which made her resiliant and mentally tough she rose from the ashes like a Phoenix

2020 she had a complete lifestyle upgrade. She finally took control and conquered Lupus and lost over 60 pounds. She also revamped her family business and with the help of hard work and a great business plan they were able to build a state of the Art building. She now on her path to building her multi-million dollar family business.

This was an amazing and inspiring story of overcoming adversity and living life to the fullest! We loved every minute of this Episode and we know you will too!

Laurence talks about a powerful even that happened to him when he was arrested for the 1st time ever in his life which made him realize that he is divinely protected.

Laurence also talks about his positive mindset and how he looks at adversity. He also talks about his battle with diabetes and how it's affected his life and the actions he takes to deal with the disease. We discuss fasting and it's positive effects on the human body and how it's helping him with his diabetes. Laurence talks about how fasting has helped him with self-discipline and helps him stay true to himself. Isaac shares his experience with fasting ad how it's helped him get rid of food addiction, especially processed foods. Laurence talks about how people don't read the food labels and as his hilariously puts it, "if you can't pronounce the ingredients, put it down!"

We discuss Larence's music and his podcast. He talks about rapping since he was 13 years old and how his passion is "making people feel good" and rapping makes him and others feel good. He reminisces about his first ever rap group "The Rich Peasants" and how when his rap career started to build traction Mr. Fab told him to link up with Trackademics and his music was eventually put on some stuff with Kid Cudi and this led to one of the highlights of his career. He then talks about how he ended up the host of his own podcast, which fell into his lap 4 months after he quit drinking. We close it out with Jho asking Laurence six powerful questions. In Part 1 we talk about his upbringing in Oakland when it was a real neighborhood and how his old neighborhood has completely changed. As Laurence puts it, Oakland is now "Oaklandish" and has gotten a major "facelift!" He tells a story of meeting Mohammed Ali at a very young age and how that made him feel. He tells us the story of being the baby of two families and how he went to the famous McClymonds High School in Oakland, home of Legends like NBA Hall of Famer Bill Russell.

We get into talking about sports and basketball. We discuss the era's of Jordan, Kobe and Lebron and debate who was the greatest. Laurence talks about how Jordan changed the NBA fandom by making fans like an individual player over a team. We discuss the modern day star player built "Super Teams" and question their legitimacy. We also talk about participation trophies and how that makes kids these days soft.

Laurence talks about now knowing his father his entire life then finally meeting him at 28 years old and how that experience was for him. He went to a family reunion in Ohio and met hundreds of family members he had never met his entire life, including his estranged father Larry. He talks about him and his father being spitting identical images of each other and as he puts it, "it was weird to meet a bunch of people who were your family for the 1st time."

Laurence talks about how alcoholism was a generational curse for him and his family and it caused him lots of grief in his life until he was able to break the curse and is now sober to be an example for his children. Laurence tells the story of what inspired him to quit drinking and how it has changed his life and his children's lives forever in a positive way. Episode 26 - Part 2: Waldo Merino troubled ex-convict & "hustler" turned spiritual guide and Shaman.

In this Episode we sit down with Waldo Merino. Waldo is an ex-convict and "hustler" who completely turned his life around and is now a plant medicine spiritual guide, micro dose creator and Shaman. Waldo grew up in Hayward, California, at the young age of 7 he started communicating with spirits, but after a very bad experience he stopped. His youth was then filled with turmoil, he was introduced to drugs at age 11 and thus began his troubles. His best friend was killed at age 16 and he was in and out of juvenile hall till age 18, all the time abusing drugs and getting into trouble. After losing his best friend Waldo stopped using drugs, but his life of crime and hustling continued and he was eventually convicted of carjacking.

After this conviction, he tried to live a normal life and keep busy with work, but that was short lived because he was working hard all day and had nothing to show for it. Upon returning to his criminal ways, Waldo was arrested at a night club and charged with possession of a firearm and was sent to prison. After being released from prison he was still on his path of hustling and crime, so he decided to "shake things up and train for a marathon," thinking this would keep him out of trouble and help him get back into shape.

While training for the S.F. Marathon Waldo noticed he always had dragonflies around him, which he thought was interesting. After 4 months of intense training the marathon was near. Waldo had asked the organizers of the San Francisco marathon if he could propose to his then girlfriend and ask for her hand in marriage after the race. However, two days prior to the marathon Waldo went out for a night on the town with his brothers for a pre-celebration which turned out for the worse. They were involved in an altercation where Waldo was held at gunpoint by a masked man, however, in that moment, Waldo came to the sudden realization that he was not afraid of death and this is where his spiritual journey began.

Waldo ended up running the marathon and this is where he found self love and accomplishment for the first time in his life. this along with a crazy experience in the mountains where he had 30 dragonflies facing him for a log time, flying in place. After this experience he felt led to change, he knew it was time for a "transformation." Waldo looked up the meaning of his encounter with the dragonflies and he realized that was his spirit animal and it meant "transformation." Because of this Waldo was lead to attend Ayahuasca ceremonies and has now worked with the medicine countless times. He began guiding his own ceremonies, his first ceremony was 8-8 "Lionsgate" and as he puts it, he's the "protector of the ceremony." He's gone so deep into his spiritual journey he flew to Peru and did an intense weeklong "dieta" deep in the jungle. This was a very engaging and riveting podcast! Please enjoy the show!

She is a family taught singer, professionally trained audio engineer, electronic music producer and dancer. Ruby has performed at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Muddy Water Blues and Jazz Festival, San Francisco Asian Art Museum, The Kennedy Center, and several other venues across the U.S. and Europe.

In Part 2...We discuss her story growing up in Oakland, CA. We also dive deep into the topic of identity and race. Ruby talks about her Afghan roots and how Afghanistan was on the Silk Road which makes the Afghani people a melting pot of culture. Ruby mentions "cosmic heritage" and she says she's mainly "Venutian" aka from the planet Venus. Ruby says she feels more connected to the stars and her own energy. As she puts it, "It's more about energy and knowing your purpose and how you want to impact the World."

We discuss Ghengis Khan and his impact on music and the World. We also get into a conversation about out of body experiences and being, "spiritual beings having a human experience." Isaac shares a true story of an out of body experience he had in his life in the year 2000.

We talk about the new trend of getting a DNA test with services such as Ancestry.com and 23andME and how we are all just melting pots of different cultures. Ruby talks about her travels to Europe to perform and shares her unique experience in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ruby talks about how her music is "an experience" and she shares her future projects for the future. She wants to connect with "high vibe" artists to create more virtual live streams and eventually concerts when the industry opens up again. Ruby mentions when the World goes back to normal, there will be a renaisaance because so many people have made big changes in their lives and have worked on themselves during the pandemic. In Part 1 we discuss her upbringing in a musical, artistic and spiritual family. We talk about how the Pandemic transformed her music career. Her upcoming event called "Feminist." Ruby talks about how she coined the term "Feminist" and what is means and how it's a lifestyle that awakens the divine feminine in women. As she puts it, "Its about loving who you are and vibrating at a high level to attract everything you want in your life." She also talks about how she was "femifesting" at a very young age.She discusses having a mother who was very in tune with other realms and how her mother was connected to Angels and sometimes could predict certain things which happened.

We also dive deeper into manifestation and certain manifestation techniques such as father manifesting. Ruby talks about accepting your higher self and knowing your power and not needing, but knowing that things will happen for you. We discuss socialization and how it's affected people to seek happiness in material things versus finding it in yourself. We discuss the "gamification of life," and how almost everything has been "gasified" these days.

We talks about the business/artist connection and how money is not negative, unless you attach something negative to it. And how she loves that she can work with other creative and powerful women aka "Goddesses" such as Desire Lacap of Lacapture visuals and The Bliss Seekers and other women of color to create "magic."

We also dive deeper into her music and her upcoming music video release for her song called "Seeker" and her big Live Stream event "Femifest" coming up at the end of the month. In Part 1 we discuss her upbringing in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in a strict Haitian family as the eldest of 3 girls. She talks about her father being in prison in her younger years but later re-joining them as a family when he was released. She talks about her big move to leave home for the 1st time and move all the way across the country to California. She broke cultural traditions and pursued her dream to be independent and free on her own with a new career and new life.

We dive deep into where she discovered her passion for healing people and why she switched careers from studying to be an RN to become an occupational therapist. She reminisces about loving to give her mother massages and holistic therapy when her mother would come home from working long hours as a dialysis nurse. She would watch YouTube videos and read books to educate herself on how to help and heal her mother at a very young age, and she fell in love with it.

We discuss her business Yoni Adore and she talks about the "Yoni Egg." She talks about the importance of womb healing and why women benefit from this practice of women wellness. We also talk about the "phallic phase" and how this affects people especially women and causes traumas.

Nelly also educates us on the chakras, their colors, and how they affect us. She talks about having a connection to her Chakras at a very young age. She also talks about her days as a Yoga teacher, teaching Yoni Yoga and Yoni healing in Oakland, CA. She discusses Yoni steams and Jho opens up about how the Yoni steams have healed her from a personal trauma. Nelly talks about learning about these healing steams from her Haitian culture and the use of the powerful Castor leaf. We dive deeper into holistic medicine and the healing power of herbs. Isaac shares a crazy story of how he was healed of chronic back pain and injuries by an herbal healer who made special teas for him.

Episode 23 - Part 1: Elaine Huang how to break free from cultural limitations and live an authentic life.

In Part 1 we discuss her childhood. She was born in Chinatown, San Francisco but she was sent to live with her grandparents in China from age 1-5. Then she returned to San Francisco to start Kindergarten. Elaine was taught traditional Chinese values however, she grew up in a very non-traditional Chinese home, because her father didn't go down a traditional path because he was a former "gangster" turned struggling entrepreneur. Because of this, her childhood was full of judgement from her extended family and personal trauma at home. Her family had to be secretive and she wasn't allowed a normal childhood. She wasn't allowed to attend birthday parties and unlike most kids, she would never want to leave school because that was her "safe place to escape."

Elaine went from being "invisible" as a child and always wanting to be the "peacemaker" to an angry, rebellious teenager, as she puts it, her "Eminem Girl" phase. Elaine was eventually able to discover the root of her calling in activism at the young age of 16, when her younger brother was falsely accused of a crime and was sent to juvenile hall. Elaine used her fire and passion to help people and was able to fight for him and set her innocent brother free. However, everything changed her Senior year when the family was uprooted to Sacramento.

Elaine lost her community, friends, and ability to participate in activism. Having to start over Elaine ended up getting to a few toxic relationships and although she was easily accepted into UC Davis, she found herself failing in school and lost her financial aid. Afraid to tell her parents, she had to work 3 jobs and live a secret life until she got an internship that changed her life. She realized she was not made for school and was an entrepreneur at heart.

She ended up working her way up to VP in just a few short years with her the company. She was in talks for a partner position at the age of 26, however she knew she was created to make a bigger impact on her own terms. She turned down the offer and started Neon Owl with her brother. This motivated Elaine to set onto her journey of self-discovery and entrepreneurship. She talks about her solo cross country drive, where her love for New York came from and why she loves electronic music festivals such as EDC and Nocturnal Wonderland, which was the inspiration for Neon Owl.

In this Episode we sit down with Rob Lopez. Rob has gone through significant personal and inter-generational trauma in his life. He was born into a cycle of violence both in the home and in the streets. In spite of all this adversity and personal trauma Rob has broken free of the past and is now on a journey of self healing. He has lost over 100 pounds after converting to a plant based diet and is now an activist for human and animal rights and is a great example for many others on how to overcome personal trauma and adversity and succeed and move forward in life.

In Part 2 we talk about his passion for animal rights and being an animal rights activist. We talk about how Colonizers and Big business pushed holistic healing and plant medicine traditions out of the way. We discuss learning to take care of yourself in ways such as growing your own food and foraging for mushrooms and herbs and the benefits of oregano oil. We also discuss the power of meditation and breathing exercises and the healing power of nature. Rob talks about learning the laws of nature and reading what nature is telling you and being more aware of your surroundings.

Rob talks about learning to forgive yourself and love yourself. He also shares his first experience with Factory Farms and how badly and inhumanely the animals are treated. As he puts it, "the animals bleed and suffer the same way humans do." He talks about how people of color are the ones used to work in these factory farms and how they suffer from PTSD and health effects of working in those conditions. Jho asks Rob six powerful questions.

We go deep into past lives and Tony talks about a powerful Disney movie called "Soul." Isaac shares a dream and vision of his to turn cemeteries into forests in the future.

They both were born and raised in San Jose, California and have been together for 11 years. They grew up down the street from each other and met in high school. They are both the middle child of their families and had to grow up fast as they were given responsibilities very young. Always having a passion for food Manuel was glued to his Mom's side in the kitchen. Manuel took over the cooking responsibilities for his family in his teen years. Dalena has an older sister with down syndrome and autism and a younger sister, she was also responsible for having to help take care of her siblings at a young age.

Dalena got into health and fitness in her college years and became uninterested in meat after eating the same meals over and over just to meet her fitness goals. Dalena was always concerned about the environment and was looking for a way to make an impact. She then watched the Netflix documentary "What the Health" which made her convert to Vegan. Manuel converted because of his compassion for the environment and his love for Mexican food and his Mothers recipes also decided to become Vegan.

Since there were both passionate foodies and seeing the lack of Vegan options for traditional Mexican food they decided to take action and created the Vegan Veganos food truck. They were inspired by a show they used to love called "The great Food truck Race." Starting with a little trailer they now have a state of the Art food truck that they invested over one hundred thousand dollars into.

In Part 2 we learn about what it takes to start a food truck. We talks about Veganizm and how it's a movement. We talk about the health effects of the S.A.D. Standard American Diet. We also talk about business ideas and an abundance mindset. And Jho's asks them some deep and powerful questions. This was an amazing episode with an amazing young couple. Alicia’s family comes from Cambodia and survived the war and persecution from the Khmer Rouge. Alicia being the baby of the family was born in Massachusetts and then moved to Southern, CA at around 5 years old. She grew up in Alhambra, CA. a small suburb of Los Angeles. Alicia was raised to love music thanks to her waking up to her father singing everyday and her sister being the famous Cambodian singer and philanthropist Mary Kheng. She was raised to be tough and have a strong work ethic by her older siblings and to love singing by her father.

She came to the Bay Area 7 years ago chasing love. The plan was to stay only 1 year, but Alicia fell in love with the Bay Area and its creativity and artistic community. Alicia also survived a horrific car accident when she was T-boned in a Lyft. She had and out of body experience and almost passed away, luckily she survived! She’s currently a bartender manager at Lukas in Oakland. She loves to express herself through tasty cocktails, poetry, dancing, singing, song writing and painting. It’s like her form of therapy.

In Part 2 we discuss her musically talented family and Alicia gives us a thorough education on crystals and how they work. Alicia also reads some of her poetry and breaks out into a never before heard song that she wrote. Jho also asks Alicia some powerful questions.

In Part 1 we discuss her horrific car accident where she was T-Boned in an Uber on fateful morning and had a near death experience. Her struggles with recovery and PTSD from the car accident. To the tremendous outpouring of love and support from her East Bay friends and community that helped her through her ordeal and her returning to her Art which was a driving force in her rehab.

We also discuss her times growing up in Alhambra as the "dark asian." and being the baby of the family being born in the United States and not experiencing the War but having a family that taught her of the struggles they went through and to appreciate life and work hard and to be mentally tough. We also discuss her love for bartending and the "craziness of bartending." Alicia also touches on her budding Art career and her ideas for combining her love for music, art and mixology!

Episode 16 - Part 2: Jourdan Jade how to go from street sales, to corporate sales to a CDB corp CEO!

In this episode we sit down with Jourdan Jade. She's the founder and CEO of Jade Healing Co. (http://www.jadehealing.co). Jade grew up in Vallejo, California aka the "707." She was raised by a very busy single mother, so all her life Jade had to fend for herself. Growing up in Vallejo during the hyphy and thizz movement she was exposed to hustling and drugs at the very young age of 15. Being surrounded by drug dealers and hustlers Jourdan became immersed in the cannabis world and became a hustler herself.

Her cannabis career began in black market sales at age 16 then she moved into personal cultivation & working as a "bud-tender" at the young age of 18. However, because Jade was very smart and had a passion for health and nutrition and wanted to attempt to follow a straight a narrow path, she went on to college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and got her degree as a Dietician. However, Jourdan had to hold several jobs and continued cannabis sales to put herself through college because she had no one helping her and hustling was all she knew, the college life also provided her high demand and a huge market.

After graduation Jourdan’s professional career began in the medical industry, serving as an inpatient medical nutrition therapy dietitian, before moving out of the hospital into pharmaceutical sales. In Pharma, she primarily consulted with oncologists on cannabinoid therapies for cancer pain & chemotherapy-induced symptoms. She became displeased with “Big Pharma” practices, she was fired for not wanting to push Fentanyl and for speaking out against "Big Pharma" as a public speaker. Jourdan moved to Sales Manager for hemp CBD company Vida Drops. Simultaneously, she began leading a series of free educational cannabis seminars in Oakland, CA alongside various doctors & psychiatrists.

After Prop 64 passed, she became sales manager for multiple leading THC brands, increasing the brands’ strength, sales & value throughout California & Nevada. Armando was born & raised in East Oakland, off 96th and A street until he was 12 years old. Then his family moved to the Central Valley, CA where he's lived ever since. As a young child Armando faced constant rejection and he never fit in with the crowd. Always day dreaming about bigger and better things he became a true underdog story. Since Armando never fit in he always had to outwork everyone in order to succeed. This built a strong work ethic and forced Armando to be driven to prove himself and prove others wrong.

In Part 2 we discuss his family life. Armando is a new husband and father. But he's a man of strong faith who believes his faith and family give him his purpose. He tells the story of his wife being the Prom Queen in High School and Armando was the outcast underdog and felt he never had a shot with her. However, destiny set in and later in life they crossed paths again and eventually fell in love. Armando now a polished, fit, budding young entrepreneur and long story short, he got his dream girl, they got married and now have a beautiful young son together.

We also discuss how adversity has molded Armando and how adversity became opportunity for him. We also dig deeper into how great his parents were and how they filled him with valuable life lessons and strong values. This caused Armando to become a Do-It-first Leader and how he always leads by example.

Jho asks Armando 7 powerful questions and he gives us his insight on life and how never fitting in and being the underdog was the catalyst for all his success in his young life.

In Part 1 we discuss his upbringing where he felt he was raised to be different. He was taught valuable lessons by his parents who were hard working hispanic immigrants and entrepreneurs. His father who always had a positive, abundant outlook on life and taught him to be respectful and to be a man of integrity. His mother who had the "gift of gab" and great people skills being the owner of a hair salon, she always poured belief into Armando telling him he could achieve anything in life.

We also discuss how he found out he was a Leader when he began playing sports and he talks about how he had great coaches who pushed him to be better. Armando also tells the story about how him and his brother built Savage Elite Fitness a fully functional fitness center from the ground up, starting in their backyard. He also gives us lots of tips on fitness and weight lifting.

Armando always wanting more then started a trucking company and had 7 trucks running at one point and while he was very successful, he found himself becoming lazy because of the lack of a challenge which led him to sell his entire fleet of trucks and enter the financial industry.

Armando found his passion and purpose as an agency builder in the financial services industry. Armando found a business that can provide him with low overhead and elite lifestyle. He can also give other people the opportunity to change their lives by recruiting, developing, and training agents to become successful in the financial services industry.

In this Episode we sit down with Ravdeep "Rav" Barring. A British immigrant of Punjabi descent. He's a successful father, husband and entrepreneur.

In Part 2...Rav talks about his values and about how important fatherhood is to him. He has a mission to not only teach his kids to survive but to teach them how to thrive! He also talks about the struggles of being stuck in the Bay Area rat race with long commutes and having to hold 2 jobs just to survive. This lead him to realize that job security is a myth and he needed to find a better way to provide for his family.

These struggles led Rav to seek out knowledge on investing and money and entrepreneurship. Rav talks about finding successful mentors and a special very successful couple that Rav and his wife Cristina modeled their life around.

Rav also talks about identity crisis. Being of Punjabi decent, raised in the outskirts of London. Then moving the United States and being a young British immigrant in the USA. Then marrying a woman of Mexican-American descent and having to deal with those cultural differences and finally raising 3 wonderful multi-cultural children. He teaches lessons on how to raise a "functional family" and creating what he calls the family corporation.

Rav also talks about his current business and how passionate he is about what he does and how much of an impact his company makes on peoples lives.

In Part 1 Rav tells his crazy story of growing up in poverty as one of "Margaret Thatchers forgotten children" in the "dodgy" part of London known as the "London Overspill projects." He tells a tales of getting bullied and beaten up every day by racist British skinheads just because of the color of his skin and the fact that he wore a turban as a child.

Eventually Rav learned to defend himself and fighting became a way of life. He tells wild stories of losing faith in God and being taught not to hate by his mother. Eventually Rav started to find a little bit of success in life when he got a good job, a beautiful lady friend, a nice car and started training boxing at 18 years old. Life seemed to be falling into place for Rav, until he got into a crazy car accident and another recession which the UK hard forced Rav to lose his job, his car, and his confidence.

Because of all this, Rav got a call from his mother who was in the USA at the time and she advised Rav to immigrate to the USA. Rav came to the USA in the 1990's and he tells his stories of being a new immigrant struggling to find a career coming from a blue collar background into a new country dominated by the tech world. Eventually everything started to turn around for Rav when he met his lovely wife Cristina!

She tells her story of growing up as a half Mexican and half Filipino girl in the "Crest" neighborhood of Vallejo and her struggles of growing up mixed race and not having her mother around, to later finding a powerful mentor in her band instructor and being taught life skills and Leadership as the drum major for her school band. Eventually she found her passion for K-Pop music and also found like minded friends and an accepting community in the K-Pop fandom world and her followers on Tik Tok.

In this episode we sit down with Hatem Alrifai. Hatem is an engineer making six figures working in the construction industry in the San Francisco area. He's moved up in his career quickly but found out he was unfulfilled. You would think he's living the "American Dream" however, during the quarantine he discoveredt his purpose was to be a videographer and photographer. Finding his purpose he has become the videographer for the Bliss Seekers.

Hatem is an immigrant from Syria. He came here in 2010 with a dream to get his Masters degree in the United States and go back to his country and become a C.E.O. of a major firm back in Syria. However, one year after he arrived in the United States, a revolution broke out in Syria and he hasn't been able to return home. This is an amazing and unique story. Please enjoy this episode.

In this episode we sit down with young entrepreneur Rosa Guerrero Contreras. Rosa is a San Jose, CA native, born in Santa Clara, CA and grew up in downtown San Jose. She loves to be in nature, staying active, cooking, singing, dancing, bonfires and generally having a great time. Rosa founded CA Vegan Food Company with this quote in mind by Ella Baker, "This may only be a dream of mine but I think it can be made real." She dreamed of making Vegan food comparable to regular food, to bridge the gap between flesh (animal products) centric eating and health forward plant based eating.

After becoming vegan at a very young age she faced challenges finding good food options and saw the health of some of her very close family members be affected greatly, due to the lack of knowledge around diet. Being a Leader and a very compassionate person Rosa decided to take action and created California Vegan Food Company. A fast growing Vegan food truck and producer of Vegan faux meats. As she calls it, "wheat meat." Rosa has a passion for educating her community and all people on the downfalls of the Standard American Diet aka S.A.D. Diet and also has a passion for educating her Latino community on the downfalls of their traditional diets and wants to teach people how they can still enjoy their cultural cuisine without the health issues. In this episode we sit down with career educator and community organizer Mike Gonzales. He tells stories of his struggles with learning to eventually becoming a Leader in education. Fighting for the rights of children in poor communities and organizing against the Charter School system which promotes inequality, to his defining moment of organizing a 50,000 person march in Los Angeles! This podcast is an amazing story of a modern day Jaime Escalante, who's life story was portrayed in the 1988 hit movie "Stand and Deliver."

He has 14 years of teaching experience as an elementary school teacher in Southern California. Starting in south central Los Angeles and ending up in Pacoima, CA. He was the union rep at every school site he worked at, N.E.A. National delegate, CA teaching state delegate, former Vice Chair of the Hispanic caucus, Unite Teachers Los Angeles school organizing committee member. Wrote the plan and name the school the SMART Academy. Former President of the Pacoima neighborhood council and Vice Chair of the P.T.A. Mike just recently moved back to the Bay Area, his hometown and just got hired for the Hayward U.S.D. and is running for the New Haven School board. He's also fighting for Prop 15 which is an initiative to increase funding for local public schools, to put schools and communities first!

Episode 1: Who the heck are we???

Who are the Bliss Seekers? In this episode you will get to know us and why we started this podcast. Isaac was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA. and Jho was born in the Philippines and immigrated here when she was 10 years old.

Isaac is a lifelong entrepreneur who's been in the financial industry for the past 17 years. The quarantine gave him time to reflect and realize he needed to return to his creative roots! He made a decision and just decided to do a complete 180 degree career change and pursue his true purpose and get back into the world of creativity and content creation. Jho was raised in the East Bay CA and now lives in San Francisco, CA and is a up and coming talented photographer. She's always been naturally curious and life long bliss seeker from her time growing up in the Philippines to being in the us for now 21 years and just officially earning her U.S. citizenship!

We share some of our life experiences and why we chose to "Follow our Bliss" and start this journey. Isaac & Jho (pronounced Joe) have an entertaining conversation and we introduce ourselves and share some life experiences with you!
