The Coach & The Culture podcast is back!!! Coach Frank and son Lance return with the latest episode of their father and son family Wolves hoops conversation. After a month off due to Lance's European vacation to Spain and Rome, as well as Coach Frank's duties as defensive coordinator and player development coach for the #2 ranked in 3A Richfield Spartans, Timberwolves talk is back on the front burner.

Did I say burner? A barnburner is what the Wolves and Nuggets played on Christmas Day and Ant Edwards full yin and yang was on display. Stop me if you've heard this one: Ant showcases a dazzling display of shotmaking and the Wolves play inspired defense to send the Nuggets to OT. Then, the Wolves thrash the Nuggets around and bodyslam them to the Canvas for the first 2 plus min. Denver's manager distracts the referee while Ant and the Wolves climb to the top turnbuckle. But, instead of jumping for the final flying elbow drop, Ant and company turn to play to the cameras and crowd. They disparage a couple hecklers, and laugh at a few joke(r)s (pun intended). Their, seemingly unconscious, opponent is playing possum, though. Ant and company have lost focus. They leap off the top rope for the final flying head-butt, only to have their prey (Den, Phx, Sac, etc...) roll out of the way at the last second as the Wolves smash their head into the canvas, never to recover. 1 three, 2 threes, 3 threes, and a turnover later and the Wolves have been counted out, again. All of Wolves Twitter and BlueSky social ask, "when will they/he ever learn"? The definition of insanity, I'm told, is repeating the same behavior over and over and expecting a different result.

What followed was a pathetic effort in a home loss to the 10-20 Brooklyn Nets that prompted Ant to unwittingly tell on himself. "I guess this is Timberwolves basketball" he said about the low energy low IQ performance. Well, Ant, YOU are the face and the directional force of Timberwolves basketball. So if inconsistent effort and IQ is the mark of the Wolves, then it is your mark. (Sorry, not sorry Ant stans)

The episode ends with Lance reiterating his faith in Bones Hyland and an invitation to come out to Richfield Saturday afternoon for what is sure to be an electric High School boys basketball game.

It Starts at the Top (That's Finch and Ant on this team)

Recorded 11/27, the morning after the Minnesota Timberwolves 'little brother' treatment from their bully brother Oklahoma City Thunder, this episode of The Coach & The Culture gets blunt. Coach Frank and Lance deliver some harsh truths about the hometown hoopers. Mind you, this means this episode was also recorded before word got out of Mike Conley's "mandatory" players dinner meeting in OKC.

Lance makes the claim if the Wolves continue to play this way, undisciplined, lacking emotional control, fundamentally and technically poor, then its clear the message is numb to Ant and therefore Finch or Edwards will have to go. Coach Frank apologies to the listeners for steering them wrong about the Wolves need for a PG and the impact of the loss of Alexander-Walker. Lance says the PG answer may already be on the roster and Coach Frank shares why he saw the 0-3 road trip coming.

Not Bad Meaning Bad but Bad Meaning...Good?

In this latest edition of The Coach & The Culture podcast, recorded Thursday November 20th, Coach Frank and owner of "Yes!Trees" (trimming and removal) son Lance discuss the Wolves continuing dominance of struggling franchises so far this season. The conversation begins with discussion about the 120-109 child's play over the Wizards Wednesday night. Which, of course, meant talk about Ant's performance and Julius's continued leadership. Then, the father and son tandem get into what went wrong against the Nuggets and how that game actually inspires optimism that the club is about to turn the corner in games vs plus .500 opponents. This episode will also include some Jaden McDaniels and Jaylen Clark love and a shout out to Tim Connelly. As Coach Frank and Lance come to a close, they sprinkle in some talk about the upcoming road trip which includes the daunting task of trying to beat a rested OKC in Oklahoma before heading back to Target Center. Is a 0-3 road trip on the horizon for the hometown hoopers? Possibly if Ant doesn't find his shot.

Coach Frank and Lance are back at it with "The Coach & The Culture" Minnesota Timberwolves themed podcast. On this episode, recorded before the rematch of with the hapless Utah Jazz. The father son duo discuss the Wolves feasting off the bad teams and that meal starting to have a better presentation on the plate. While Lance takes a break coach Frank reminds long time listeners and informs new listeners of how and why The Coach & The Culture is a little different than then other podcasts that cover the team. And why we're worth a continued listen. Then the talk turns to Rudy Gobert's impact and what may be leading to some of his numbers dip- not related to age. The obviously noticeable with the naked eye difference in effort is a big part of the conversation, as is Jaden McDaniels rise and impact on the Wolves success. Now the attention turns to consistency for the team going forward. The conversation concludes with Lance reminding us all how lucky we are to be able to watch Anthony Edwards play for our hometown team.

Timberwolves Start the Season With the Dark Age

***Trigger Warning*** The latest episode recorded on Oct 31, 2025 is not one for those who can't handle criticism of the hometown Minnesota Timberwolves (said with a wry smile). The Coach & The Culture podcast features Coach Frank, from Richfield High, and Lance Gardner, former collegiate player and owner of Yes!Trees (Tree trimming and removal). The father-son duo lets the Timberwolves have it this week. Coach Frank gives his usual coach's eye take on the Wolves and one thing a coach has trouble stomaching is poor fundamentals and lack of "winning" effort. Well, the Timberwolves, through 5 games, are full of both and Lance warns that it's early "act right" time for the Wolves. The discussion covers the offense of Jaden and Julius and basically no one else in Ant's absence. Then theres a scathing review of the defense and how that end of the floor may be affecting Naz and TJ on offense. Tune in for these conversations and more. Coach Frank and Lance are back to discuss the 2-2 week that was for our Minnesota Timberwolves. After back to back losses vs the suddenly pesky Trailblazers the Wolves right the ship a little with wins against the short handed Kings and the even shorter handed Phoenix Suns. The Wolves season long bugaboo of turnovers and lackluster energy did them in during their first in-season tournament game in Portland. Coach Frank has plenty to say about that. Then Lance chimes in with another Wolves nemesis, blowing big leads, as he tells us why the Sacramento win wasn't as impressive as it should have been on the surface. We complete the episode with some Jaden, Mike, and Donte talk as well as the return of our "Concerning trends and hope it never ends" segment.

3 steps forward, 1 step back

Consistency is a beautiful thing! The latest episode (our 3rd Tuesday release in a row) of The Coach & The Culture Timberwolves centric podcast has Coach Frank and Yes!Trees Lance discussing the 3-1 week that was for our MN Timberwolves. The duo recap wins over Charlotte, Chicago and Portland with some spotlight conversation on electric performances by Ant and steady work by Julius and Rudy. Then the conversation gets to the Miami game and all the ugly inconsistencies that haunt the Wolves resurfaced in the disappointing loss. Intensity, turnovers, execution and decision making- in short, maturity- always seem to be the theme when the Wolves lose. The defense is, mostly, improving however and just in time because tougher opponents are on the horizon after a back to back with the in Rip City. Give us a listen and enjoy Timberwolves analysis and discussion like only a coach and his player son can give.

Oh boy! On this latest episode of the Coach and the Culture podcast, recorded Nov 4 (before the Wolves v Hornets) Coach Frank and Lance break down last weeks 1-2 record and overall 3-3 record with the most Coach and Culture rant ever. Trigger warning: If you believe Ant is untouchable for criticism you may want to find your zen place before listening to this episode. This week's talk centers around the Wolves inability to consistently play clean basketball. A volatility led by Ant's lack of culture setting when it comes to doing the "winning things" and Jaden's struggles on offense marooning his defense. On the positive side, the duo talk about how good NAW has been, how steady Randall has been, and the reality that this team is so talented it can sleepwalk to a.500 record- which they've basically done in these first 6 games. This conversation is animated, passionate and informative for any listener interested in how Coach's set the ground rules but players, specifically elite players, lead the "culture" of a team.

A defensive performance for the ages (but it ain't over)

Coach Frank and Lance are back with their first podcast recording in over a month. Coach Frank has been busy hosting the hottest Thursday night open MIC jam in the Twin Cities and Lance has been busy welcoming his first child in the world. The Wolves? Well, they were busy burning out the Phoenix Suns and their offensive stars and now they prepare to dig in on the defending champion Denver Nuggets.

Listen in as Coach Frank and Lance discuss how the Wolves defense and playing style could be seen coming from as early as last April and what that style did so effectively against Phoenix. Jaden finally put up that 15-5 (okay 14-5) the duo has been pining for all year. Ant and KAT committed to ball movement and Rudy can guard guards. NAW can guard EVERYBODY.

Frank and Lance close the show discussing how all the above stacks up against the champs and they boldly make predictions on the series.

Uh oh. Dad seems mad. (It’s the kids)

Recorded on February 4th 2024, the latest episode of “The Coach & The Culture” Timberwolves centric podcast, Coach Frank and Lance give their take on the week that was and yet another 4th quarter stall for the Timberwolves offense. A week that began with a gutsy win over the Thunder in Oklahoma City ended with a disappointing late game collapse at home against the Orlando Magic. Coach Frank and Lance talk about the determine factors in the two games being the excellent play of Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels in the 4th at OKC and the glaring mistakes the duo made in the loss against Orlando. The bottom line is the Timberwolves late game success hinges on the maturity and decision making of the kids. Coach Frank breaks down some of the late game decisions by Ant and Jaden on both ends of the floor. He then shares some Chris Finch comments, via Dane Moore, that suggest the coach is fed up with the ball hogging and defensive lapses and, now that the mid season awards have been handed out, the coach may be making some changes. Lance points out how the “continuity” period that may have allowed the Wolves to get off to such a great start is over and the Wolves had better adjust. The West is tightening up in a hurry. The Coach (Frank Sentwali) & The Crooner (Julius “Juice” Collins) debut podcast features

discussion about their excitement for Wolves basketball, off-season acquisitions and their

impact on the culture and on-court play of the 2022-2023 T-Wolves squad, and the dual
