This story reminds me of a particular serial killer from our land. He was truly horrific and terrorized an entire state for years. He was the type of person who took his time and learned everything he could about his victims before he made his final move. He would go into their homes beforehand and take trinkets as prizes for his unspeakable acts.

I found an article called 5 Myths About Serial Killers and Why Do They Persist and it reads I quote: “The majority of serial killers are not reclusive social misfits who live alone, despite pervasive depictions of them as such in the news and entertainment media. Real-life serial killers are not the isolated monsters of fiction and, frequently, they do not appear to be strange or stand out from the public in any meaningful way.” Upon reading this I began to wonder. Did Zeke, the Big Bad Wolf truly travel alone as I first stated? Or was he truly a lone wolf?

When I started this journey I sat in front of my computer and stared at the blank screen for what felt like eternity. I was frozen, but I was lost in this run on sentence in my head about Zeke. Only I didn’t know him as Zeke at the time he was The Big Bad Wolf. And I found myself shaking my head from side to side and saying “that's 3 murders. 3 murders so close to each other by the same villain, The Big Bad Wolf.” Then I just shot up in my seat, He's a Serial Killer!!!! Fairytale land has, or had a serial killer and no one was or is talking about it.

This is FairyTale Land. Yes, the place where fairy godmothers dance and evil forces play. You’ve read about this place to your kids at night. You’ve bought books about princes and princesses that promote happily ever afters. You’ve shared with your friends which ones of it’s tales were your favorites and why.

But we are here tracking a story. Going through the looking glass and pushing aside the veil. I’m shining a light on Fairy Tale Lands' first serial killer. This is the story about the Big Bad Wolf. He terrorized FairyTale Land for years and then poof! We just stopped hearing about him. What happened to the Big Bad Wolf? And Is he still alive?

This season I”m trying something different. You might not know this but I am a murderino, you know a true crime junkie. That’s right my friends on my free time I listen to murder. So much so that when I was first bouncing around ideas to create a podcast I thought I would be doing a true crime podcast and who knows maybe one day I will. So this season I decided to take a stab at it but in my own way. This podcast is me reading you great stories which I love and I will continue to do so here. Even during this investigation season. So keeping that in mind we are going to delve into the realm of Fairy Tale Land and get to know one of the meanest, sneakiest, baddest mother wolves around the infamous Big Bad Wolf. We are going to hear stories about his beginnings. Where he grew up, who were his influences, did he have friends, how did he become who he is known as today? The Big Bad Wolf is not a one trick pony like, he is at the narcissist level of Ted Bundy. He has been “Gone in the dark like the Golden State Killer”. The Big Bad Wolf is a serial killer and I'm calling him out.

For this holiday season let's go on an adventure to a Victorian Christmas of long, long ago. Did you know that during the Victorian era, publishers of newspapers and magazines printed ghost stories during the Christmas season for chilling winter reading by the fireside or candlelight. It was a time of reflection as the days became longer and darker. People would gather and share tales of past winters, of deaths that occurred, of births and rebirths. “Christmas was originally connected to the 'pagan' Winter Solstice celebration and the festival known as Yule. The darkest day of the year was seen by many as a time when the dead would have particularly good access to the living,” that was a quote from religious studies professor Justin Daniels stated in an University of Pennsylvania blog. These last few days have been intense. The pandemic is still in full effect. We now have civil upheaval entering center stage. We need to be on the side of change. Black Lives Matter. I have turned inward. My brain has been on overload. I have thinking about our history and how things have changed and how they have not. I've been thinking about those who stood up in the past and how they would stand today. How they would be with us now and how they are with us now. So I give my voice in the only way I know how. Maybe by voicing the voices of the past we will feel them joining us and their strength will empower us.

This is a poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar named Sympathy. Paul was an American poet, novelist, and playwright of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in Dayton Ohio to parents who were enslaved in Kentucky before the American Civil War.

Hello, bienvenidos, and welcome to How About A Story. I’m Yzaura. Today's adventure comes from Puerto Rico. When I was younger I would visit my grandparents there and for 2 months I was surround by family, nature and the haunting stories of the islands past. I had a fierce aunt who taught me that if you grab a lizard and are brave enough to rub it’s belly. It will fall asleep and then you can gently open it's mouth and place it on your ear like a earring. She also taught me how to sneak up on butterflies and ever so gently grasp it’s wings between your fingers. Of course now I know that is extremely harmful to the butterfly but it was one of those magical moment we shared. This story reminds me of those times. Except for the witch, the…. well enough boncinchando let go ahead and dive right into Pura Belpre world of words this is the story of Amapola.

Hello and welcome to How About A Story. I’m Yzaura. In this adventure we follow a traveler who is looking for a place where no one dies. Now wouldn’t that be wonderful. To find a realm where we never feel the pain of losing those most dear to us.

Andrew Lang a well respected writer and collector of tales takes us on this journey. It is written that in Andrews youth he soaked up the stories of his home Scotland. Drawing upon its rich history and lush land it was said that we would run off into the forest and stomp around in its streams. I envisioned him finding the perfect nook in tree to cuddle into and escape into a fairytale to two. It is noted that he has gotten lost in the words of the The Brothers Grimm’s and into the soul of Shakespeare so of course his past times of his youth laid the ground work for his future in literature.

I was inspired to create a murder mystery theme for this tale so let’s step into Andrew Langs world of words this is The Voice of Death.
