It's the day of the ball! Edmund gifts Fanny a SECOND chain, and Fanny decides to get over Edmund just as Edmund starts to doubt his feelings for Mary. Henry offers to take William to town and flirts up a storm with Fanny (respectfully). Fanny is the belle of the ball, despite her wishes.

Theatre kids, rise up! Today we meet John Yates and the young people decide to put on a play. Edmund is NOT a fan of this idea. Julia finally gets her answers about Henry's feelings.

This adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is set in 2013 Cincinnati. The eldest Bennet sisters are approaching 40 and Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are country club parents who don’t care that they’re deep in debt. Jane and Liz end up back in Cincinnati when Mr. Bennet has a heart attack.

Topics discussed include our honest criticisms of the book, the success of the class commentary, the splitting of Wick/Ham, Darcy and Liz as fuck buddies, the Catherine de Bourgh-ification of Caroline Bingley, kissing your cousin, the charade of love and performance of courtship on reality TV, ace Mary, mortgages, and gender roles in the regency era vs. early 2010s.

Funniest quote: Surely, if Liz had learned that anybody in her social circle in New York had eloped with somebody transgender, she'd have greeted the news with support. Persuasion Cancelled Chapters

Today, we're covering the original ending of Persuasion, otherwise known as the "Cancelled Chapters." The original Volume 2, Chapter 10 replaces the Chapters 10 and 11 that we ended up with, and the original Chapter 11 is essentially the same as our Chapter 12. The Cancelled Chapters were published posthumously.

Anne has just found out Elliot's true nature when she runs into Admiral Croft, who locks her in a room with Wentworth after begging Wentworth to talk to Anne on his behalf. Wentworth reveals that the Crofts are concerned that Anne and Elliot are going to take Kellynch back when they get married. Anne tells him that she and Elliot are not going to be married, and the rest is history.

Chapter 9: Lydia and Wickham visit the Bennets. We find out that Mr. Darcy was at the wedding, and Lizzy writes a letter to Mrs. Gardiner demanding answers. Highlights include Becca's dancing skills and Lydia's pear-shaped diamond.

Chapter 10: Lizzy receives a letter back from Mrs. Gardiner. She tells her that it was DARCY who paid off Wickham's debts and got him to marry Lydia. Lizzy and Wickham get closure. Highlights include Darcy's ulterior motives, the return of Mrs. Younge, swooning on a chaise lounge, and Lizzy's saucy speech.

Chapter 11: Lickham leaves, to be replaced by Bingley! Darcy comes with Bingley, and it's uncomfortable for everyone. Highlights include Daddy Bennet: King of Sarcasm, Darcy and Bingley on a single horse, Mr. What's-his-name, and awkward run-ins with your ex.
