These Leopard Curs have brought two worlds together, and nothing is more powerful than sharing a common interest and goal with another person. We discuss what matters in coon hunting, the Leopard Breed, and other topics that came up along the way. We believe this one will be enjoyed; it is not every day you get to create a podcast with your best friend! What you hear is a natural form of friendship; the laughs are genuine, and the passion is evident! Give it a listen and tap into the minds of two Curs guys as they share a conversation about the things we love!

This episode was special, featuring a conversation with one of my best friends! These types of conversations happen often between him and me, and we thought it was time to share them with others. This one is the first of many we hope to share along the journey of our friendship. Andrew holds nothing back with an honest love for coon hunting and Leopard Curs.

Each Leopard dog can be unique, but those who have the good ones will be very slow to get another breed. In this episode, I list several things a new Leopard owner should know. The leopard breed is so small. Here is my list of things I believe will help you succeed! My list is as follows:

-A leopard can be slower to Mature and needs to be mentally stimulated

-Color doesnt tree coon

-Leopards are intellectual breeds, very intelligent

The mind's ability to understand, reason, and think, separate from feelings

-Leopards have feelings

-Be clear with who you buy a Leopard from if you plan on outcrossing to another breed

-Line breeding is even more important with leopards.

-Get a Leopard from the terrain you plan to hunt

-You will ruin them if you try to make them something they are not

-Leopards thrive on trust; if you break that, good luck

-Leopards do not thrive on heavy-handed training techniques

-Leopards crossed on other breeds is not the goal of Leopard Owners; it's not needed

-There are Leopards being bred for the Money grab

-If you want a hunting Leopard, get one out of Hunting Leopard

-Leopards are in a class of their own. If you want a more houndy style, go with that; if you want a more classical cur style, go with that.

The hope is that these frameworks can help people choose the Leopard Dog that will work for you!!

<itunes:summary>In this episode, we discuss having a young dog that might not stay on the tree when it gets treed. I have a question sent to me on Facebook about how a dog sometimes can mill around the tree and not quite be belly up or even leave the tree when the owner is walking in. I have dealt with this before and share something I did that seemed to help my dog when he would tree for a bit and start to leave the tree. WE discuss being slow to correct in these situations to make sure the dog is actually leaving trees with game in them and not just double-checking to make sure they are right. With most things involving training hunting dogs, there are many ways to accomplish the same goal, and the hope is to give a new handler options they can fall back on when encountering different scenarios!</itunes:summary>

The foundation of communication, coupled with the bond made between the handler and dog, is a crucial part of success. Miscommunication is a recipe for frustration when it comes to training a hunting dog companion. We discuss dissecting the miscommunication matrix that is making training difficult for you and your pup.
