The Copa America is coming to the USA in 2024. After Ecuador's surrendering of their hosting rights, CONMEBOL has partnered with CONCACAF to not only bring the South American championship to the USA, but start a true partnership between the two sides. Copa America will be hosted by the USA, with 6 CONCACAF sides joining the tournament. 4 CONMEBOL teams will join the 2024 Women's Gold Cup. Ronaldo's Legacy, The USMNT's Reyna Problem, and Chelsea's decline

Today we discuss Cristiano Ronaldo's legacy after his move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, the USMNT drama between Gregg Berhalter and the Reyna family, and why Chelsea have been struggling so hard recently.

On December 30th, 2022, Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr signed Cristiano Ronaldo for two and half years on 200 million euros a year, the highest salary for a football player. This came about a month after his contract with Manchester United was terminated. How does this move affect Ronaldo's legacy? Is he officially washed?

Gio Reyna didn't get a lot of minutes for the USMNT during the World Cup. Berhalter afterwards stated that it was because of behavioral issues. As a retaliation, Gio Reyna's parents, Claudio and Danielle Reyna announced without anyone's consent that Gregg Berhalter abused his now wife in 1991. Now, US Soccer, the Berhalter's, and the Reyna's must deal with the fall out. Who is to blame and how does US Soccer move forward?

Chelsea FC… are struggling. They find themselves in 10th place, just as close to relegation as they are to the top 4. One Premier League win in the last 3 months. Are injuries to blame, or can we assign some blame to manager Graham Potter and owner Todd Boehly?

What the Manchester United Glazers Protest Tell Us About the Future of Football

May 2nd, 2021. Thousands of Manchester United supporters, donning green and yellow scarves gathered outside of the Club's historic home, Old Trafford. The green and yellow scarves aren't what you necessarily think of when you think of Manchester United Colors. They are the colors of protest. Representing the old colors of the club, and worn as a slight to the hated owners of United: The Glazer Family. This is right off the heels of the European Super League, a closed off league only for elite clubs that threatened the very fabric of the footballing world. And while these protests may have been sparked by Manchester United's involvement in the failed Super League, the roots of discontent stretch much further than that. The Glazers protest has sparked much discussion about the role of ownership in football, fan control, and more. So today we ask - "What does the Glazers protest mean for the future of football?" It's a story of over-commercialization, profit over community, and hope for a potential future featuring 50+1 and fan controlled clubs.

The Growing Wealth Gap in Football: A Bubble About to Burst

Football is a business. From the formation of Premier League and the introduction of Sky Sports, TV deals, gate receipts, sponsorship revenue, all drivers of the global game. However, 30 plus years of commercialization has led dreadful effects across the footballing world. On the field, richer clubs have been running the show, causing a competitive gap between the have's and have not's in Europe's big leagues.

Off the field it's no different, the rich dominant sides get richer, causing a vicious cycle that has exacerbated the wealth gap between teams. With fewer resources, smaller teams can neither compete on the field, but off the field in getting more fans and sponsors.

This has led to a "Footballing Bubble" to form. In an attempt to further grow their business, club owners are constantly finding new ways to expand and keep up with the competition. This means increasing ticket prices, getting more and more sponsors, signing more lucrative TV deals, and of course, spending exuberant amounts on transfer fees and salaries in order to get big players and stay relevant. This level of conspicuous consumption isn't just unsustainable, it's downright harmful for the game. Which leads us to our open-ended discussion for today. Why is football so economically unequal, what's wrong with it, and what can we do to stop the football bubble - from bursting?
